Strategy to make app efficiently when we can’t get the real time data
We have an issue in making the .NET in-house app to work effeciently.
We have 2 systems, one in-house, one system from the vendor. The vendor can’t provide the real time data nor can we query the real time data, they can only push the data back every 5 min.
After the data is sent from in house app to vendor’s system, they will process it. The issue is: the in-house app can’t send the next set of data to the vendor’s right away because we need the push back data for calculation and decide what needs to be sent to the other side. As a result, I have to wait 5 min for each item. It becomes unacceptable when we have 100 rows to process。 it means it will take 500 min = 8 hours.
Please advise is there is a better way to do this? Your help would be greatly appreciated!

deleted Teams app storage on my phone
I recently cleared the Teams cache on my android because it was randomly crashing and not sending messages and I cleared the app storage as well without thinking. I cannot sign into Teams anymore on my phone. I’ve uninstalled, reinstalled, tried downloading it through teams.microsoft.com and nothing is working. I can still access it on my laptop, but need it on my phone as well. Any suggestions are welcome! Thanks!

Exporting to Excel – Indexed filters not working
Hi,
I would appreciate any help or advice that people may have.
I am on office 365 not enterprise. This is relevant as some answers on similar issues advise actions that i need an enterprise license for – specifically connecting a data connection to Sharepoint.
I have a document Library that has many folders, sub folders and files.
There are in excess of 100, 000 lines when exported to excel. We need to look at files created over the lst 7 days but this is unmaneagable in the standard export. due to the number of lines the information suc as date created and link to document dont work.
So i thought, and is the advice across forumns, that i could create a view to restrict the results. So i have. I have created a view that says show me any file created in the last 7 days. i have been bulk uploading documents, as we move from our old filke storage system, so i have asked the query to show files where created is not equal to my name. therefore excluding my results.
this gives me very few lines to export. less than 300.
This is where the problem starts. If i click export to excel i get an error saying i do not have permission to view the entire list because it is larger than the list view threshold enforced by the administrator.
So i can export the whole list but not the reduced list. I am an administrator. We do not have on prem so i cant amend the threshold. How can i export to excel and have links to the files that have been created in the last 7 days?

problem saving pagination formatting in Word
My problem is that the formatting I am doing on the pagination of a document is not saving. I format the pagination (in the footer), save it, close the doc, and when I open it again, the formatting has returned to what it was before I made the changes. I’ve done this several times now: make the pagination formatting changes I want, save it, close the doc, open it again, and the changes are gone. (Any other changes in the doc I make are saving fine.)
Background context, in case it’s helpful: It’s a 308-page book manuscript, with chapters. I broke the doc into sections, in order to have the footnote numbering begin again at 1 with each new chapter. I’m a full-time book editor, so this is something I do all the time. When I did it to this file, though, the pagination suddenly began again at 1 at the start of each new chapter (the new sections I created in the doc); that has not happened in the past. Ok, so I fixed the problem by going to the first page of each chapter, double-clicking on the page number, clicking on PAGE NUMBER in the top bar, then FORMAT PAGE NUMBERS in the drop-down list, and choosing CONTINUE FROM PREVIOUS SECTION. By doing this at the beginning of each chapter, I ended up with what I wanted: a doc that’s paginated 1 through 308. But that fix is what’s NOT SAVING when I close the document.

Insert the embedded “Version” field into a Word document
Hi,
I’m struggling with the existing “Version” field connected with files created into a sharepoint library.
I see this field is made available by by the platform in the library setting
As a result I can see the Version number connected with the documents
Now, I’m trying to achieve is to insert such info info into the header of the file, so that when I open the file I see the same version info as reported in the list.
I’ve been trying several wasy without any result.
Can someone help me please?
I need to use this field since I want the files to be updated through check-in/check-out procedure.
Implementing the same logic with power automate is quite hard, given that it misses the relevant triggers (at check-in, at check-out)

We’re thrilled to announce the public preview of the Microsoft Entra PowerShell module, a new high-quality and scenario-focused PowerShell module designed to streamline management and automation for the Microsoft Entra product family. In 2021, we announced that all our future PowerShell investments would be in the Microsoft Graph PowerShell SDK. Today, we’re launching the next major step on this journey. The Microsoft Entra PowerShell module (Microsoft.Graph.Entra) is a part of our ongoing commitment and increased investment in Microsoft Graph PowerShell SDK to improve your experience and empower automation with Microsoft Entra.
We’re grateful for the substantial feedback we’ve heard from Microsoft Entra customers about our PowerShell experiences, and we’re excited to hear your thoughts after evaluating this preview module. We plan to build on our investment in the Microsoft Entra PowerShell module going forward and expand its coverage of resources and scenarios.
What is Microsoft Entra PowerShell?
The Microsoft Entra PowerShell module is a command-line tool that allows administrators to manage and automate Microsoft Entra resources programmatically. This includes efficiently managing users, groups, applications, service principals, policies, and more. The module builds upon and is part of the Microsoft Graph PowerShell SDK. It’s fully interoperable with all cmdlets in the Microsoft Graph PowerShell SDK, enabling you to perform complex operations with simple, well-documented commands. The module also offers a backward compatibility option with the deprecated AzureAD module to accelerate migration. Microsoft Entra PowerShell supports PowerShell version 5.1 and version 7+. We recommend using PowerShell version 7 or higher with the Microsoft Entra PowerShell module on all platforms, including Windows, Linux, and macOS.
Benefits of Microsoft Entra PowerShell
Focus on usability and quality: Microsoft Entra PowerShell offers human-readable parameters, deliberate parameter set specification, inline documentation, and core PowerShell fundamentals like pipelining.
Backward compatibility with AzureAD module: Microsoft Entra PowerShell accelerates migration from the recently announced AzureAD module deprecation.
Flexible and granular authorization: Consistent with Microsoft Graph PowerShell SDK, Microsoft Entra PowerShell enables administrative consent for the permissions you want to grant to the application and supports specifying your own application identity for maximum granularity in app permission assignment. You can also use certificate, Service Principal, or Managed Identity authentication patterns.
Open source: The Microsoft Entra PowerShell module is open source, allowing contributions from the community to create great PowerShell experiences and share them with everyone. Open source promotes collaboration and facilitates the development of innovative business solutions. You can view Microsoft’s customizations and adapt them to meet your needs.
Next steps
Installation: Install Microsoft Entra PowerShell, which uses the “/v1.0” API version to manage Microsoft Graph resources, from the PowerShell Gallery by running this command:

Or install the Beta module, which manages Microsoft Graph resources using the “/beta” API version, by running this command:

What is the difference between the Microsoft Graph PowerShell SDK and Microsoft Entra PowerShell modules?
Microsoft Entra PowerShell is a part of our increased investment in Microsoft Graph PowerShell SDK. It brings high-quality and scenario-optimized Entra resource management to the Microsoft Graph PowerShell SDK. Still, it keeps all the benefits of Microsoft Graph PowerShell SDK for authorization, connection management, error handling, and (low-level) API coverage. As Microsoft Entra PowerShell builds on the Microsoft Graph PowerShell SDK, it is completely interoperable.
Is the Microsoft Entra PowerShell module compatible with Microsoft Graph PowerShell?
Yes. You don’t need to switch if you’ve already used the Microsoft Graph PowerShell module. Both modules work well together, and whether you use Entra module cmdlets or Microsoft Graph PowerShell SDK cmdlets for Entra resources is a matter of preference.
I need to migrate from the deprecated AzureAD or MSOnline modules. Should I wait for Microsoft Entra PowerShell?
No. One of our goals with Microsoft Entra PowerShell is to help you migrate from Azure AD PowerShell more quickly by setting Enable-EntraAzureADAlias. Microsoft Entra PowerShell supports simplified migration for scripts that were using AzureAD PowerShell, with over 98% compatibility. However, the legacy AzureAD and MSOnline PowerShell modules are deprecated and will be retired (stop working) after March 30, 2025. We recommend that you act now to begin migrating your MSOnline and AzureAD PowerShell scripts.
Both modules use the latest Microsoft Graph APIs. For test environments and non-production systems, you can migrate to Microsoft Entra PowerShell. We recommend migrating to this module for production systems only after it reaches general availability. If you migrate scripts to Microsoft Graph PowerShell SDK now, there is no need to update them again with Microsoft Entra PowerShell, as it enhances and will not replace Microsoft Graph PowerShell SDK.
Should I update Microsoft Graph PowerShell scripts to Microsoft Entra PowerShell?
This is not necessary but a matter of preference. Microsoft Entra PowerShell is part of the Microsoft Graph PowerShell solution, and the two modules are interoperable. You can install both modules side-by-side.
Will Microsoft Entra PowerShell add support for more resources in the future?
Yes, it is a long-term investment. We will continue to expand support for more resources and scenarios over time. Expect new cmdlets for Privileged Identity Management (PIM), Entitlement Management, Tenant Configuration settings, Per-User multifactor authentication (MFA), and more. We’ll also enhance existing cmdlets with additional parameters, detailed help, and intuitive names. Check out GitHub repo for ongoing updates.
Will Microsoft Entra PowerShell use a pre-consented app like AzureAD or MSOnline modules?
No. Microsoft Entra PowerShell permissions aren’t preauthorized, and users must request the specific app permissions needed. This granularity ensures that the application has only the necessary permissions, providing granular control over resource management. For maximum flexibility and granularity in application permissions, we recommend using your own application identity with Entra PowerShell. By creating different applications for different uses of PowerShell in your tenant, you can have exacting control over application permissions granted for specific scenarios. To use your own application identity with Microsoft Entra PowerShell, you can use the Connect-Entra cmdlet:
Connect-Entra -ClientId ‘YOUR_APP_ID’ -TenantId ‘YOUR_TENANT_ID’

MVP’s Insights on Copilot for Our Lives and Startups
Through collaboration with Microsoft Startup Team, UK-based M365 MVP Lesley Crook has been supporting the growth of startups. She recently participated as a panelist in a discussion at the Oxbridge AI Challenge event held at Oxford University, one of the most prestigious universities in the UK.

Learnings from the panel discussion
With the advances in AI, we live in exciting times. I was at Keble College Oxford University to share my recently acquired knowledge of Copilots and the vital importance of Bees on our planet! For the startup ecosystem, using Copilots and freeing up time for them and their teams to focus on innovation and growth is crucial, like a hived network, to find guidance and support. Over the past few months, I transitioned from 4 months of unemployment to leading Copilot adoption and change campaigns, particularly in the public sector. I can honestly say that Copilot has had a significant impact on me in several ways and my growth mindset:
Saving money and time: I now generate high-quality, unique sustainability images for my passion project and customer engagement campaigns within minutes instead of relying on a usually out-of-budget graphic designer.
Improved well-being: Thanks to Copilot, I can now research honey and bees more effectively without sifting through many links to find relevant information. It also helps me explain complex thinking in a simple yet fun way that might have taken me months to articulate or never. This must be so helpful to start-ups, too!
Expanded digital skills: I have enhanced my proficiency with tools I had barely heard of just six months ago.
Time-saving: Improved my task completion rate.
Quality. Vastly improved my passion project and work collateral quality.

Improvements to Contacts in the Outlook for Mac
We’re thrilled to share some long-awaited improvements to contacts in the Outlook for Mac. Keep reading to learn about our Large Profile Card including Org Chart and Files (available on 16.86.609.0), Better search for contacts and the global address list (GAL) (available on 16.86.609.0), and Support for Contact Lists (available on 16.82.211.0)!
New Large Profile Card with Org Chart and Files
Head over to contacts and check out our new large profile card (Learn more). More than just a visual upgrade, the new profile card makes it easier to initiate communication and copy contact information.
For organizations, you’ll also find the “Organization” tab, another way to navigate and find people in your organization! We have also added Files (not shown) to help you find recent files you have collaborated on.
Better search for contacts and global address list
If you’re like us, you probably use your email and calendar apps to communicate with people from all over the world. For large organizations it can be challenging to address emails and events to large groups on the fly.
With the latest update, you can remain in-flow while using a more robust search UI for adding recipients to mail and events. Simply tap the address book icon on the To line and access the new ‘add recipients’ experience.
From there, you can optionally select the account you want to search (if you have multiple accounts connected) and use the search box to find the profiles of the people you want to contact.
You can also view their contact info and org chart when available, so you can learn more about them and their role. And of course, you can easily add and remove contacts as you compose your message or event invitation.
Support for Contact Lists
Another long-awaited feature in the Outlook for Mac are Contact Lists, also known as Personal Distribution Lists (PDLs).
What Are Contact Lists?
Contact Lists are an intuitive solution for managing large lists of email addresses. These lists simplify the process of sending emails to multiple recipients, saving you valuable time and energy. Contact Lists are available for M365 and Outlook.com account types, and they will sync across your devices.
Creating and Managing Your Contact Lists
Creating a Contact List in the Outlook for Mac is a breeze. Navigate to the People module, hover over the ‘New contact’ primary button, and choose ‘New contact list’. Name your list, add the desired contacts, and hit Save. It’s that simple.
For those switching from the legacy Mac app, you can migrate your Contact Lists into the new experience and find them under the “On my computer” tree in People module.
Use your Contact Lists when addressing mail or events.

We are working to add an Org chart explorer accessible via the left rail. No date to share on when it will roll out, but it is in active development.

Can’t run or uninstall MATLAB
I have already contacted tech support on this but I figured I should post this here in case someone else has a problem later. Basically my computer runs 64-bit and I am trying to launch the R2018a version of MATLAB. It’s already downloaded and installed but it won’t launch due to java errors involving sun.awt.win32Fontmanager. Tech support recommended uninstalling and downloading a R2015a version or later but when I tried to uninstall its giving the error "Installer Error Exception Calling Main". This is where I’m at now with this. If any of you have a solution it’d be appreciated, I’m still waiting on a response from support.I have already contacted tech support on this but I figured I should post this here in case someone else has a problem later. Colormap editor window size is huge and cannot be resized bug
when opening colormap edior, the default window is huge, way bigger than my screen.
Any manual resize attemp dont work, it simply dosnt change anything.
Its come to the point where i cannot use the colormap editor.

Office Files Not Syncing with OneDrive on Linked PC
Whenever i try to sync microsoft project files on a PC linked to my Onedrive it fails, the file renames and i receive the error:
“The file or folder name contains invalid characters. Save a Copy of this file using a different file name or folder name.”
It also renames the file to the first word in my file path.
The file path itself doesn’t contain any characters other than letters, other than the onedrive folder that defaults to the name “My name – Personal”
Possibly the “-” could be causing the issue, though i can’t find a way to rename it. I’ve tried unlinking and re-linking my PC though the error reoccurs each time. I also don’t get the error if i open Onedrive in my browser.
Any pointers would be greatly appreciated

Conflict Note when trying to open one of my calendar invites
I scheduled the meeting – subject is ‘Python messaging’ for context on screengrabs below.
When I try to open it, the screen opens as below with my email address and the subject of the invite displayed multiple times over and over again. There is no option for me to investigate or fix the issue.
An app appears that shows the below when i right-click, but again, no option to remediate the issue.
Can anyone help?? I’ve closed and re-opened Outlook multiple times, as well as restarted my PC twice to no avail.

M365 Business Premium – Defender for Business
Hi Everyone,
I’m having some difficulty and was hoping you could help me with my question.
Does the Defender for Business included with M365 Business Premium have any kind of Vulnerability Scanner? Specifically, does it report vulnerabilities in third-party applications installed on endpoints?
I know that Microsoft Defender Vulnerability Management is available as a standalone product and as an add-on for Microsoft Defender for Endpoint Plan 2 customers. From what I’ve researched, Defender for Business includes some features of Defender for Endpoint Plan 2.
How does this compare to M365 Business Premium? It seems to me that while some features are included, it isn’t the full Microsoft Defender for Endpoint Plan 2 experience.

New Purview Portal – Missing Sections
Hi
We’ve recently upgraded to the enterprise tier and started using the new portal.
However, we’re missing some sections within the Data Catalog solution. The entire Data Management menu/section is missing, so we can’t access Business domains or Data products (using a Purview admin user).
Here’s what we’re seeing:
We’ve granted the tenant-level data governance admin role to our Purview admin user, but we’re still unable to access the Data Catalog “Roles and permissions” page.
We’ve followed all of the instructions described in the link below without any success:

I am asking some advice on Business Intelligence curriculum/certifications/licenses when related to Azure and Microsoft technologies.
What are good certifications today for Business Intelligence Developers with knowledge of PowerBI and SQL Server, who would like to enlarge their curriculum to Web Development (such as React, Python, C#) ?
In regards to Azure, are there still any Microsoft exams focused on SQL Server or programming?
Is Business Intelligence still the good word to use to refer to Dashboards, Reporting Apps & Tools, or did Analytics replace this notion entirely? I still see job posts for “Business Intelligence Developers” which include a lot of analytics activities requirements. What would other synonyms/options for this type of job be?
Is Azure Synapse Analytics the latest solution from Microsoft in this matter?

Windows Server 2022 Hyper-V Cluster Network issues
Hi,
I need help with Hyper-v Windows Server 2022. Recently Spinned up a new Cluster on Win 2022 and I am facing Network challenges with the VMs not seeing the Network. But only the ones deployed without Desktop Experience GUI. Every time I try to assign a static IP it gives me the Error below:
Setting NIC to static IP…
Failed to release DHCP lease.
Result code: 83
Method name: ReleaseDHCPLease

Outlook new: need to change from inbox to another folder so a new email is available in the preview
Hello community! I receive a new email and the notification is fine, but in Outlook I see the number of unread emails next to the Inbox, I need to change the folder from the Inbox to “Sent Emails” or another folder so that the email is displayed in the preview area. Changing the sorting also works, but is so annoying that I’m thinking about going back to the classic view. I’ve heard from colleagues that they have the same problem. Restart etc. didn’t work!
