Microsoft MVPs help launch Copilot+ PC in Australia
Copilot+ PC launched during Microsoft Build, and the announcement has been well received by end users with a series of engagement events taking place across Sydney by Microsoft Australia. Microsoft MVPs also played a significant role in educating the audience on Copilot capabilities through fun activities and demonstrations.
Kirsty McGrath, an M365 MVP, is passionate about sharing the latest news around Copilot. She hosts the Microsoft 365 Adoption – Sydney user group, as well as shares adoption resources on her YouTube channel.
Kirsty, alongside fellow M365 MVP, Daniel Anderson, demonstrated her excitement for accessible travel and technology at a recent consumer event at the Microsoft Experience Centre in Sydney. Kirsty showed guests how she used Copilot+ PC to plan a trip to Norway to see the beautiful Northern Lights.
Kirsty explained, “my demo focused on using Copilot+ PC to organise a holiday. Now, the really fun part was showing them how I’m actually planning an accessible holiday right now to Norway to see the Northern Lights at winter. It’s a great example to use the add-in app plug-ins like Kayak to help support Copilot results. It’s so fast on the new Copilot+ PC laptops… now I really mean, superrrrr fast!”
Kirsty also described her favourite Surface Pro feature and commented on the reliability of the connection, “I loved the new Flex keyboard for the Surface Pro, the fact you can disconnect it and it still works (I may have walked quite a way outside the Microsoft Store to test it).”
Rishona Elijah, a Business Applications MVP, who hosts her own Power Platform & Copilot Microsoft Learning Room to connect with the wider community, shares her experience at Vogue Codes, an annual event that celebrates women in STEM and technology.
Vogue Codes attracted over 600 attendees who were interested in learning about the latest trends and innovations in the tech industry. The theme for this year’s event was Technotopia, which explored the next generation of female leaders and technology’s impact on various topics. Azure AI Product Lead, Prerita Mehta, also joined a panel discussion on Australia’s AI position in the world and Microsoft’s role in sustainability and responsible AI.
Microsoft AI Platform MVP, Haritha Thilakarathne, also took part in this event with MVP Rishona, who showed the attendees the possibilities of Copilot and how it can help them when applied in different scenarios.
Rishona says, “I had a wonderful experience talking to attendees about Copilot and showcasing the capabilities to them. Not only did they have fun trying it out, but they were also thinking about practical ways it can help them at work. Attendees were amazed that they could use Copilot to write songs and poems, plan holiday itineraries, find recipe suggestions, design their own artworks, or help with analysing data in Excel.”
Rishona also shared her experience of using the new Cocreator tool, which is available in Copilot+ PCs. Cocreator is a feature that enhances Microsoft Paint by allowing users to generate realistic images from their sketches.
“Experiencing the new Cocreator tool available in Copilot+ PCs was a highlight for me. It really takes Microsoft Paint to the next level! I have been using Copilot already for image generation, but it was incredible to see how you can bring your drawings to life with Cocreator – you don’t need to be a talented artist to create a beautiful drawing,” said Rishona.
Discover the Copilot Learning Hub
If you want to learn more about Copilot, the Copilot Learning Hub was also launched at Microsoft Build, where you can discover how Copilot is relevant to your role and explore the many Microsoft Learn resources.

Error sending data to ThingSpeak – Data Intervals??
I am sending data from sensors on a XIAO esp32 S3 – there are 6 fields of data – I have timed to send every 5 minutes. When I initiate the code it sends 2 or 3 sets, but then I get an error message saying ‘Error sending data to ThingSpeak’ – and it doesnt send any more data unless I reset the esp , yet the data is being collected as shown on the serial monitor. I have played around witht the time intervals but no joy. Missing gpu.lib in R2024a
I am trying to compile CUDA version of Matconvnet on R2024a.
Mex reporting an error of missing gpu.lib and indeed I can’t find it in R2024a. It however, exists in the previous versions, for example R2023b.
Is there a replacement for gpu.lib in R2024a?

Using a specific wavelet transform on new ECG signals
I’m working with ECG signals and am trying to use a wavelet technique to reduce some of the noise in various data sets. I was able to use a ‘Continuous Wavelet 1-D using FFT’ technique in the Wavelet Analyzer toolkit to achieve a good response (at least on one sample). I have exported the CWTFT struct to a variable called CWTS and want to apply the same wavelet function on a number of other pieces of data.
My overall goal would be to have a command or function that applies the same wavelet transform I generated to new input data.
I am somewhat of a novice in the wavelet / signal processing realm, so if there are smarter or better ways to approach this, please let me know. I tried several random wavelets and this option seemed to do the best for me.
How I generated the wavelet transformed data: 1-D/FFT -> ‘dog’, 6 parameter, linear analysis, linear synthesis, scale limited to first 16 options
Here are some of the details:
CWTS Contents: CWTS.cfs, CWTS.scales, CWTS.frequencies, CWTS.omega, CWTS.meanSIG, CWTS.dt, CWTS.wav
Here are the pre / post transform plots of the data:

Why is my solution incorrect here? How to implement the boundary conditions correctly
I am trying to solve for a 1D BVP with Neumann boundary conditions. I am using chebyshev derivative and so to implement these BCs I am initially replacing the first/last row of the second derivative to the values of first/last row of the first derivative and set them to zero so that u'(-1)=u'(1)=0 (i.e. first derivative at left and right boundries = 0). I am not sure if that’s what I am doing in the code though because I get completely wrong numerical solution.

apologies if i have not explained myself properly.

Half of 11 years messages have disappeared…
Hello to the Microsoft community,
and first thanks a lot for reading this !
I write you from Paris, close to Pere Lachaise (cemetery), I have lived here fore 28 years, in a little apartment (19 m2), I teach half time in poor suburbs but I do also short movies (fiction) and photography (portraits). I love epistolary correspondence, so I enjoy using Microsoft Outlook…
One week ago I have lost half of my correspondence ! I am very sad and I hope someone is going to help me for finding a solution.
First, I say with what I work:
Macbook Pro (2018), OS Catalina 10.15.7, Outlook for Mac 16.66.1
And I tell what’s happened…
In Riga where I was for thinking about a new movie, there was connexion problems. At a moment I had the colored wheel which means the application has a problem. It was the first time I saw this with Outlook. I have waited for but as I was not at home, I decided to force to quit and come back.
And all messages had disappeared ! This basis is with all my messages since 2013.
I am not too afraid because I know I work with imap.orange.fr and I know my messages are also there. So I connect Outlook and the messages are coming back slowly. I feel it could be a source of mistakes but I decide to trust. And 5 or 6 hours later, Microsoft Outlook shows me my last messages. I think I am saved !
It was Thursday. But today, Sunday, I had some e-mails with heavy attachments so I decided to check with Orange.fr the size of all my messages because Orange doesn’t store more than 10 Go. I know I was around 9,96 Go… Everytime there is saturation I throw away old attachments.
And I see: 5,3 Go !!!
It means I have lost quite half…
How can I do to find half missing?
Of course I have a backup hard drive but how mix the 5 Go which are now in the basis, with the 10 Go in the backup drive ? I wouldn’t want a 15 Go basis with many repetitions…
All the best from Paris,
Patrick

I have a manuscript on my hard disk that should have been published two decades ago. I want to publish it shortly if only as a PDF but it was set by someone else, not by me. It is in A5 format but only alternate pages – to accommodate the printing. Can anyone tell me how to reformat it to a standard layout? I am using WORD 2007, the program I like best.

I bought MS Word yesterday (Office) I’ve a LAPTOP. I’ve set it to UK English, but it still wants to change my ‘leant’ into ‘leaned’, my ‘focussed’ into ‘focused’, my ‘backwards and forwards’ into ‘backward and forward’ etc. What am I supposed to do? Also, in the UK, we don’t use Oxford commas much, like the USA, but MS Word keeps highlighting the lack of commas. Thanks.

What is the most computationally efficient factorization of a matrix A?
I have an exam in 24 hours for my Linear Algebra and Geometry course and we have a section with MATLAB related questions. In a simulation test, I was asked to "solve the linear system Ax=b by the solution of two triangular systems, using the most computationally efficient factorization of a matrix A". What does this mean? What is "the solution of two triangular systems"? How would I choose the most computationally efficient factorization of a matrix?
The question I am talking about is the following, word for word:
Let Ax = b, a linear system of order 18, where A is a symmetric, tridiagonal matrix with all elements equal to 6 on the main diagonal and to 3 on the superior and inferior codiagonals. The elements of b are linearly spaced numbers in [8,11]. Compute the eigenvalues of A and, based on their properties, solve the linear system Ax = b by the solution of two triangular systems, using the most computationally efficient factorization of A. The 1-norm of the vector obtained by summing the vector that is the solution of the inferior triangular system and the one that is the solution of the superior triangular system is, approximately:
A) 8.4419e+01
B) 3.4638e+00
C) 7.5558e-01
D) 9.5155e-01
E) 6.5559e+01
Now, we went over all this with a friend and even asked chatgpt to give us an idea. In our curriculum, the main factorizations we learned about are the PA=LU, the Choleski, SVD and the QR factorization. We thought maybe after seeing all the eigenvalues are positive, and thus the matrix positive definite, the choleski should be used. But we aren’t really sure. Why would the others be less efficient? With the code chatgpt gave us, tweaked a little here and there, we got the answer right using the choleski. But we really aren’t sure we understand the wording of the question and the systems at play. Here is the code in question:
Thank you in advance for an answer to such a long question.

n = 18;
A = eye(n)*6 + diag(ones(n-1,1), 1)*3 + diag(ones(n-1,1), -1)*3;
b = linspace(8,11,18);

R = chol(A);
disp("R’*R*x = b so y = R*x = b")
Y = R’b’;
x = RY;
finalVector = x + Y;
norm(finalVector, 1)I have an exam in 24 hours for my Linear Algebra and Geometry course and we have a section with MATLAB related questions.
How can I have a data store that connect to out of model in Simulink system composer?
Hello guys,
i have a project that i want implement on hardware with microcontroller (STM32f103VGT).
part of my project such as control unit, protocol unit , … is in simulink and other parts such as GUI Control,Hardware control ,… are in other IDE (Keil IDE).
i need a global and shared data store in system composer and connect this data store to other part of project out of MATLAB.
i have a lot of variables and structures that are common between Simulink and other IDE. all variables after reset will back to initial values.
which tool or tools in system composer can help to make a global data store can convert to C code by EMBEDDED Coder?Hello guys,

Bad resolution of Dashboard Displays after printing to PDF
Hello everyone,
I´ve got a model composed of several subsystems. Those are associated with a small table consisting of some annotations and Dashboard Displays. Now, while zooming in/out in Simulink, the resolution of every part is adjusted. So, everything stays well readable, also the numbers in the displays.
But when I try now to print the model to PDF, the resolution of the Dashboard Displays seems to be "stucked". Zooming in leads to pixelated numbers while the rest of the model is well readable (see attached picture).
Anyone faced that problem before and got a workaround?
