New Outlook Bug – Hitting backspace when the spellcheck popup opens deletes whole email
This is a highly disruptive bug.
When I am typing, I, like everyone, make typos. Usually you just click on the wrong character to set the cursor there, hit backspace, and fix the type.
The brilliance of the new outlook is now that if you click on a word with a typo in it, it directly opens the spellcheck popup. But if I now click backspace, instead of the cursor deleting the previous character. The backspace is handled by the list of emails in the inbox, instead of the text i am writing. This results in the email i am typing, as well as the email i was replying to is deleted. And if I hit backspace a couple of times, it deletes more email in the inbox.
So to summarize.
– Replty to email
– Start typing
– Make a typo
– Try to fix the typo by using the mouse to place the cursor next to the typo
(The spellcheck popup takes focus away from the text editor)
– Try to delete the erroneous characters with backspace.
ERROR: The whole email is deleted, and if you are unlucky other emails as well if you pressed backspace repeatedly.
Good luck finding the correct emails back.

I need a best YouTube-video to mp3 converter for Windows 11 without ads
Hello everyone! I recently made a PPT for a client and needed to convert YouTube videos to MP3 format for use in the presentation. I tried several YT to mp3 converter online converters, but encountered some problems: first, there were too many ads and I was often interrupted during operation; second, the download speed of these tools was very slow, and sometimes the download failed. I am looking for a YouTube-video to mp3 conversion tool suitable for Windows 11, and I hope this tool will be efficient and without ads.
If you have any good recommendations, please share them with me, thank you very much!

The Spirit Within the Device
Today, I decided to investigate my vintage computer system for any possible issues. To my surprise, I delved into connecting a pair of speakers, which had been idle for over two decades, to the setup for some background tunes.
The unexpected occurred when musical sounds began emanating from the speakers even after I had disconnected them from the computer. Strangely, the volume seemed to improve when I touched the speaker connector or added a metal object to it. Curiously, the sound persisted even when the computer was turned off.
These speakers are of a basic variety, with a single speaker featuring an on/off switch and power cord for mains supply. Despite lacking any wireless or Bluetooth features, I found myself perplexed as to how they managed to stream music from Spotify.

Surface8: Unable to Activate Camera or Microphone – Access Buttons Disabled
Surface8 is currently running Windows 11, but unfortunately, both the front and back built-in cameras along with the microphone have never functioned since the device was purchased a year ago. Oddly, there seems to be a belief that an ‘organization’ is causing these issues, despite this being a personal PC with no organizational affiliations.
In the Settings menu, specifically under Privacy & Security and Camera settings, all the access buttons are disabled and cannot be activated. This is the same situation for the microphone settings page as well.
Even after Microsoft technicians remotely accessed the system and attempted to troubleshoot, they were unable to pinpoint the root cause of the problems. Their recommendation to reinstall Windows was carried out, yet the problems persist.
Despite exploring various suggestions from online sources such as making registry edits and adjusting group policies, none of these attempted solutions have proven successful.
At this point, do you have any alternative suggestions to resolve this ongoing issue?

Installer for Windows
¡Necesito ayuda urgente!

Battery Usage not Tracked in the Settings Application
I noticed a strange issue when checking the Power & Battery settings on Windows 11. Despite using my laptop while it’s plugged in most of the time, all the battery usage metrics show 0% and no apps are listed as using the battery. Surprisingly, this problem does not occur on another laptop with the same Windows 11 version. Any insights on why this might be happening? Your assistance is greatly appreciated.

“Can Microsoft Ever Perfect the Start Menu?”
MS’s history with Start menus has been quite disappointing.
Initially, they had basic menus with just a few icons that could be moved around a bit. It’s funny to see that with W11, they’ve essentially come full circle with a similar layout.
As time passed, the menus evolved, leading to the well-liked W7 menu. However, things took a nosedive with W8, which didn’t even have a proper start menu, opting instead for a full-screen version.
With the introduction of the W10 menu, there were some initial rough edges that got smoothed out over time with features like nested folders and improved visual themes. The W10 Start Menu is now quite versatile and functional, with options to resize and customize it.
Unfortunately, the latest iteration has taken a severe step back, reverting to a menu filled with ungrouped icons and lacking nesting capabilities. Functional changes matter more to me than cosmetic ones.
A significant annoyance is the bottom section dedicated to recommended apps, which, even when turned off, persistently teases that you can turn them on. This kind of wasted space is frustrating.
The insistence on including a search bar in the menu seems redundant, especially when there’s already one on the taskbar. Furthermore, the inability to resize or move the menu is a significant drawback, making it one of the least customizable menus possible.
The current W11 menu feels like a regression to the days of W3.1, but with even more wasted space. While the debate over whether the W7 or W10 menu is superior is subjective, there’s no denying that Microsoft missed the mark with the new W11 menu if they believe it’s an improvement.

Common Questions about SSD Issues
My recently purchased Dell XPS8960, only 2 months old, is experiencing boot-up issues. Currently, I can only access it through the command prompt window after the ‘post’ stage. The XPS8960 has a single 2TB PCIe M.2 SSD, recognized as the ‘X’ drive. Upon running the DIR command, folders like Program Files, Program Files (X86), Sources, Users, and Windows are listed. Additionally, there is a file named ‘OfflineRecEnvTrace/etl,’ with the System32 subfolder under Windows containing windows-related files. The Users folder includes a ‘Public’ subfolder with empty directories for documents and photos under the Sources folder.
Before the problem arose, there was a significant amount of personal data stored in a ‘My Documents’ folder on the drive. While some data is backed up on a portable hard drive, the rest is not. I am eager to recover this data, as I suspect its disappearance is linked to the boot-up issue.
Based on my understanding, the X: drive is the SSD responsible for booting up the computer. It seems operational to some extent since I can access the BIOS, troubleshooting, and command prompt. The available free space indicates that a substantial partition of the 2TB drive might not be visible, where my personal data likely remains.
I’ve come across suggestions to remove the drive and attempt data recovery on another PC before reinstalling Windows 11. However, this solution would be inconvenient for me. Is there any way I can explore the current state of the machine to verify if my data is recoverable without resorting to removing the drive?

Problem Using the Median Function with Complex Numbers
Hello,
I encounter an issue with the median function when using on complex numbers. I am using MATLAB 2022a. In the link: https://www.mathworks.com/matlabcentral/answers/96926-why-do-i-receive-different-results-when-applying-median-or-nanmedian-to-my-matrix-vs-a-single-colu#answer_106277 it is stated that the median function sorts the complex numbers according to their magnitudes. However, I tried the median function with the abs values of the complex numbers after seeing that the numbers are not like what I expected. In my case, computing the median then the magnitude and the reverse (computing the absolute values of an array then the median) did not produce the same result where it should have produced. With further debug in the built-in function median, I observed that this case occurs when the length of the array is an even number. I think that the problem is due to the function that calculates the mean (inside the median) for the two middle numbers. The function is:
function c = meanof(a,b)
% MEANOF the mean of A and B with B > A
% MEANOF calculates the mean of A and B. It uses different formula
% in order to avoid overflow in floating point arithmetic.
if islogical(a)
c = a | b;
else
if isinteger(a)
% Swap integers such that ABS(B) > ABS(A), for correct rounding
ind = b < 0;
temp = a(ind);
a(ind) = b(ind);
b(ind) = temp;
end
c = a + (b-a)/2;
k = (sign(a) ~= sign(b)) | isinf(a) | isinf(b);
c(k) = (a(k)+b(k))/2;
end
In the bold part, c is calculated as (a+b)/2. Then, according to k, it should be updated as c(k) = (a(k)-b(k))/2 to correct the calculation if the numbers have different signs whereas it remains the same since it is given as c(k) = (a(k)+b(k))/2.

How does the “RL external action” is supposed to work?
Hi all,
As some of you may already know, I have been working for a while with a 3DOF model of a business jet. This model is successfully controlled by the TECS algorithm that gives actions to reach some speed and altitude setpoints. The original idea was to train a DDPG agent to emulate these actions, rewarding it appropriately using the specifications of the TECS algorithm. After many weeks of failures, I would like to abandon this path and make one last test using the external action port of the RL block. The idea would be to run the same system with the TECS in parallel with the agent. The latter receives commands from the TECS directly. So I was wondering how learning with external actions works. Do neural networks update their weights and biases by observing the actions of the external agent? Also, can the action be injected continuously or is it better to proceed with an "on-off" approach? For example, I can start with external actions, then after a certain number of seconds they turn off and there is the agent alone. Are there any documents I can consult on this? ThanksHi all,

The OneDrive for Business Problem Created When Deleting User Accounts
On the surface, the work to delete OneDrive for Business accounts seems straightforward because Microsoft provides a 30-day deletion period to review contents and uses an automatic delegation process to assign control over the account to the deleted user’s manager. But given the number of applications that store data in OneDrive for Business, can anyone perform an end-to-end review of what’s in the account in a reasonable time?

Unable to Remove-SPOUser from personal sharepoints properly
Hello,
I had to add a global administrator account literally on every single personal sharepoint, as Site Collection Administrators, to delete a user from each personal sharepoint, with a certain email but associated with a old sharepoint ID (the user was re-added to our Office 365 and he had issues when other were sharing links from personal sharepoint to him, access denied even with the right email, because he have now other sharepoint ID).
Now I want to remove that global administrator account from every personal sharepoint (using: Remove-SPOUser) , using a global administrator account A to remove the global administrator account B that I’ve added everywhere (Account B was added with Account A login with: Set-SPOUser)(otherwise will get: Remove-SPOUser : A user may not remove his or her own account from a site collection.), but cannot do that because, seems like I need to use an account that is already a Site Collection Administrator, to perform this action, so I am unable to leave just the Primary Site Collection Administrator (the own user).
Over web sharepoint admin center, I can remove and add everyone using Account A, even remove Account A from Site Collection Administrators, it simply doesn’t work in the same way when connected over Connect-SPOService.
Please advise how can I remove that Account B, and leave only the Primary Site Collection Administrator as Site Collection Administrator?

Data validation on a column based on another cell content on a different column and different row
I am trying to creat a data validation on a column where it doesnt allow duplicate entries based of content from another column correspondence to the original entry in the first column.
Eg:
column A – 1,2,3,4
Corresponded column B – occupied, Not occupied, Not occupied, Not occupied
If someone enters number 1 in column A again, it should trigger error message because the corresponding value in column B says “occupied “

Eg:column A – 1,2,3,4Corresponded column B – occupied, Not occupied, Not occupied, Not occupiedIf someone enters number 1 in column A again, it should trigger error message because the corresponding value in column B says “occupied “ hope this is clarified and hope someone can help 🙂 Read More
FOCUS: An open specification for cloud cost transparency
When it comes to FinOps, the data is of the utmost importance. Data is the key to understanding your cloud cost and usage patterns, and pivotal to making smart decisions about your cloud strategy and operations. This is why Microsoft is proud to be a founding member of the FinOps Open Cost and Usage Specification (FOCUS) project and why we’re dedicated to defining and evolving the specification alongside our customers, partners, and industry peers. We first implemented FOCUS 0.5 in the FinOps toolkit in June 2023, then we implemented FOCUS 1.0 preview in Cost Management exports in November 2023, and most recently, we were excited to announce FOCUS 1.0 support in Cost Management exports at FinOps X 2024. And if that weren’t enough, we were joined by Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Amazon Web Services (AWS), and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) teams who all announced FOCUS 1.0 support in June. This is truly an amazing time to be able to see FOCUS take flight across each of these platforms, setting FinOps practitioners across the globe up for future success. So, if you haven’t started preparing for FOCUS by familiarizing yourself with the current specification, joining the FOCUS community, and providing feedback on your use cases and needs, now’s the time! And I’ll give you a crash course in FOCUS 1.0.
What is FOCUS?
FOCUS is a groundbreaking initiative to define a common format for billing data that empowers organizations to better understand cost and usage patterns and optimize spending and performance across multiple cloud, SaaS, and even on-premises service offerings.
FOCUS provides organizations with a consistent, clear, and accessible view of their cost data explicitly designed for FinOps needs such as allocation, analytics, monitoring, and optimization. As the new “language” of FinOps, FOCUS enables practitioners to collaborate more efficiently and effectively with peers throughout the organization and even maximize transferability and onboarding for new team members, getting people up and running quicker. Paired with the FinOps Framework, practitioners will be armed with the tools needed to build a streamlined FinOps practice that maximizes the value of the cloud.
For a quick introduction, I’ll let JR Storment, executive director of the FinOps Foundation, introduce FOCUS in his own words from the FOCUS 1.0 announcement during the FinOps X keynote a few weeks ago.
Why organizations need FOCUS
The variety and flexibility of Microsoft cloud services allows you to build amazing things while only paying for what you need, when you need it. And with this flexibility comes varying operational models where services are billed and can be tuned differently based on a variety of factors. When services are billed differently, their cost and usage data tends to differ as well, making it challenging to allocate, analyze, monitor, and optimize consistently. Of course, this goes beyond just Microsoft’s cloud services. Organizations often rely on software as a service (SaaS) products, licensed software, on-premises infrastructure, or even other clouds, exacerbating the problem with each provider sharing data in proprietary formats.
FOCUS solves this problem by establishing a provider- and service-agnostic data specification that addresses some of the biggest challenges organizations face in managing the value of their cloud investments—understanding and quantifying the business value of their spending. FOCUS enables organizations to spend more time driving value and less struggling to understand data caused by inconsistencies between and unfamiliarity with different services and providers. And just to emphasize that point, FOCUS benefits everyone, not just organizations using multiple cloud providers. Whether you use multiple cloud providers, one cloud provider with complementary service providers, multiple accounts within a single cloud provider, or even if you have a single account with a single cloud provider. The benefits from using FOCUS are wide-reaching, from streamlined operations within an enterprise to making your skills as a FinOps practitioner more portable, FOCUS delivers immense long-term value. Getting started with FOCUS
FOCUS 1.0 covers the resources you deployed, the internal SKUs each resource used, the type of charge, how much you used or purchased, how it was priced, and the specific:
Billing details related to invoicing, like the provider you used, who generated the invoice (invoice issuer), and the billing period for the invoice.
Resource details about what you deployed with the provider, like the service, resource type, region, and tags.
SKU details about the product you used or purchased, like the publisher and SKU identifiers.
Charge details that describe and categorize the charge, like the type, description, frequency, and amount used or purchased.
Discount details that summarize the pricing model, like the pricing category and commitment discount details.
Pricing + costs that include the raw details about how each charge is priced, like the pricing quantity, unit price, and cost.
Next steps
Armed with the knowledge of what FOCUS is, it’s time to take that critical next step to start adopting and evangelizing FOCUS within your organization. If you’re looking for a starting point, check out the FinOps toolkit Power BI reports, which added support for FOCUS 1.0 in the most recent release.
If you’d like to dig in more before you start, you can also leverage the FinOps Foundation introductory course and certification for FOCUS. If you have any questions, feel free to ask here on Tech Community or leverage the #chat-focus channel in the FinOps Foundation Slack community. If you have direct feedback, create an issue in the FOCUS GitHub repository.
The FOCUS community is working diligently towards the FOCUS 1.1 release in November, so it’s a great time to make your feedback heard and contribute to what will change the future of FinOps in an amazing way. And if there’s anything we can do to help with your adoption of FOCUS and FinOps in general, let us know. We’re here to help!
