Double Thunking Works Wonders!
Given that most Excel users would not dream of employing one thunk, you might well ask why even consider nested thunks! The use case explored here is to return all the combinations by which one might choose m objects from n (not just a count of options =COMBIN(n, m), but the actual combinations) Knowing that sometimes allows one to deploy an exhaustive search of options to determine the best strategy for a task.
Before considering the task further, one might ask ‘what is a thunk; isn’t it far too complicated to be useful?‘ All it is, is a LAMBDA function that evaluates a formula when used, the same as any other function. The formula could be an expensive calculation or, rather better, no more than a simple lookup of a term from a previously calculated array. The point is, that whilst ‘arrays of arrays’ are not currently supported in Excel, an array of functions is fine, after all, an unrun function is little more than a text string. Only when evaluated, does one recover an array.
In the example challenge, each cell contains an list/array of binary numbers, which might itself run into the hundreds of terms. A ‘1’ represents a selected object whilst a ‘0’ is an omitted object. Rather like the counts of combinations obtained from Pascal’s triangle, each cell is derived from the contents of the cell to the left and the cell above. This is SCAN on steroids, accumulating array results in two directions. Running down the sheet, the new combination contains those of the above cell, but all the objects are shifted left and an empty slot appears to the right. These values are appended to those from the left, in which the member objects are shifted left but the new object is added to the right.
So the challenge is to build a 2D array, each member of which is itself an array. The contents of each cell is represented by a thunk; each row is therefore an array of thunks which, for REDUCE to treat it as a single entity, requires it to be securely tucked inside its own LAMBDA, to become a thunk containing thunks. Each pair of rows defined by REDUCE is itself SCANned left to right to evaluate the new row.
By comparison the 2D SCAN required for the Levenshtein distance which measure the similarity of text strings was a pushover. I am not expecting a great amount of discussion to stem from this post but, if it encourages just a few to be a little more adventurous in the way they exploit Excel, its job will be done!

Outlook groups – how to send emails from Groups
Hi,
Is there a way to send emails from groups similar to distribution groups/security groups?
I need to use a specific group to send emails rather than individual email addresses
I have added the email address to my “From” section but it says I do not have permissions to send from the specific group. I own the group and can’t see any option in the group to add permissions so looking for advice on what to do next?

Prevent Users from Changing “Content Type” After Item/Document Creation
Hey everyone,
Quick question for the community!
I’m working with a list that has 10 different content types. What I’d like to do is prevent users from changing the content type once an item is created.
Is there a way to hide the content type option in the information panel or item edit panel after an item has been created? I’m really hoping to stick with content types instead of creating individual lists (would literally save time + significantly reduce the long-term maintenance of a site)…
If this is possible, I’m sold on using content types! Otherwise, if any user can change it…I don’t really get them…

Steps to Create a Custom Policy
Creating a custom policy to check the last activity on an Azure Bot channel involves several steps. Below is a detailed process to guide you through setting up this policy effectively.
Prerequisites
Before you begin, ensure you have the following:
An active Azure subscription.
Access to the Azure Bot Service.
Basic knowledge of Azure Policy and Azure SDK.
Step 1: Define the Policy
Firstly, you need to define the custom policy in JSON format. This policy will check for the last activity on the bot channel. Below is a sample JSON definition:

After creating the policy definition, assign it to a scope (e.g., subscription, resource group):
Step 3: Monitor Compliance
Once the policy is assigned, Azure Policy will evaluate compliance at regular intervals. You can monitor the compliance state via the Azure Policy dashboard in the Azure portal.
Advanced Monitoring and Notifications
For more sophisticated monitoring, you can integrate Azure Monitor and set up alerts. Here’s how you can do it:
Step 1: Create a Log Analytics Workspace
If you don’t already have a Log Analytics workspace, create one:
az monitor log-analytics workspace create –resource-group your-resource-group –workspace-name your-workspace-name
Step 2: Configure Diagnostic Settings
Configure the bot service to send diagnostic logs to the Log Analytics workspace:

I am using a manually created signal (using signal editor) as an input into a PID controller. I have tried to select ODE15 from the model configurations and also tried tightening the absolute error. Nothing works. The simulation stops at 300 s. I need it to run till 550 s. Please help.I get the following error –

I have 3 types of data. The first data is the angle, the second data is the radial distance, the third data is the pre-calculated data as a function of the first two data.

In the past we have successfully used Measurement Computing PCI-DAS 1001/2, PCI-DAS 1200 and PCI-QUAD boards with Matlab xPC Target for real-time acquisition for custom robotic applications. The drivers for Measurement Computing boards were supported only until Matlab 2015b, since this was the last version of Matlab that was 32 bit. After that measurement computing boards (at least the ones that we have) are no longer supported. On one of our older industrial PCs have died and the new one does not run 32 bit version of xPC Target. So the next step would be to try to compile 32 bit drivers on a 64 bit version of Matlab.
Has anybody tried to compile drivers for Measurement Computing boards on 64 bit Matlab and used them in Simulink real-time (which is basically just renamed xPC Target)?

📢 Windows Devices not evalued compliance

It’s been 1 week since I’ve been able to solve the problem and it’s becoming urgent, so I need the community’s help.
I manage Windows devices in a hybrid environment. My case is only related to exiting devices.
I have two GPOs applied, one that automatically registers to Entra ID and the other that registers to Intune.
In the Entra ID console, the workstation is registered, but the user name is visible instead of the device name.
In the Intune console, the same device is registered with the user’s name.
The result is that the device is managed by Intune, but no policy or application deployment is applied to it.
the hardware inventory is not updated, and it’s impossible to synchronize the device.
I’ve already properly rewrapped the device – same error.

My case is only related to exiting devices.I have two GPOs applied, one that automatically registers to Entra ID and the other that registers to Intune.In the Entra ID console, the workstation is registered, but the user name is visible instead of the device name.In the Intune console, the same device is registered with the user’s name.The result is that the device is managed by Intune, but no policy or application deployment is applied to it.the hardware inventory is not updated, and it’s impossible to synchronize the device.I’ve already properly rewrapped the device – same error. help with a formula please
Hi,
Im hoping you could please help me with this formula as I cant do it after lots of tries! I have 2 sheets. One is a front page and one is a data page. The front page contains a unique number with a special instruction. The information is from the data tab. This unique number is multiple times on the data sheet with special instructions and there are four different columns with the special instructions (unable to combine in 1 column as all looking for different things from different columns). I have concatenate the line to bring the special instruction which it does. On the front page I would like it to show the line with the maximum instructions but it just pulls through the special instruction from the first line with the unique numbers. Is there a way to do this or is it just not possible?

Auto Populate date in a microsoft list column based off an action in another column
Hello
I am attempting to improve a action list we have created. The improvement is adding a “date completed” column to each action. Is there a way to auto populate the “date complete” column when status of the action is change to “completed”? We can see the version history but would like this auto populated.
