MS merged 2 accounts without warning. Now no access to 2ndary account
Situation:
I had an issue with XBOX hotmail and a gamepass activation app 5 years. They required me adding another email address as an alias to correct. (dont’ ask me why..) This was a completely independent outlook address I gave them verbally. I would continue to have issues with XBOX as there were also now 2 XBOX profiles after this change. Fast forward to app 3 months ago, and ran into similar issue when I inadvertently added my gamepass renewal to the outlook addy. They fixed the gamepass association with my primary ms account email addy. I indicated I wasn’t going through this again and asked how to disassociate my outlook account from the hotmail acccount. They suggested removing the alias under my ms account section. I did that.
On or around Oct 3rd, my outlook account is no longer accessible. I have lost license records and other content. I spent 3 hours with outlook chat last night. And, they simply do not get the difference between an alias and a standalone account. I don’t know how XBOX managed to add a legit email addy as an alias.
How can I get my original email account which is NOT an alias restored with the folders/archive ?

Latest ASP.Net
Hello All,
I’ve been working on a web application developed in ASP.Net and .Net Framework 4 for a few years. Trying to find out the new technologies that replaced asp.net web forms to brush up the skill set, found that ASP.Net Core is the new one. I’ve worked on ASP.Net MVC framework.
Does this core completely replaced asp.net? Can the web forms applications be created in core?
What is the latest framework to develop web apps?
Thanks

Can’t save large excel files onto a shared work folder.
I’ve been unable to save large (10,000KB+) files to a shared work folder. I am working remotely and using a VPN. When I try to save the file out, it gives me a “Not Saved” error, and then saves a blank version of the excel file with the same name, and 0kb file size into the folder, along with a temp file with the true file size into the same folder.
Any idea what the issue is? I tried opening the file in safe mode and then saving it out, but that was not helpful. I can also save large files to my own personal folders with no issues.

Trying to work out if Defender for Identity Default Ruleset would alert on specific Win Event IDs
Im working in CTI and im trying to work out if defender for identity alerts on all the common attack types towards AD.
I have correlated all the relevant widows event IDs that are required to be monitored. Im trying to work out if Defender for Identity can capture all these types based on this?
For example.
Event ID Source Description
4738, 5136Domain ControllersThese events are generated when a user account is changed. Malicious actors can modify user objects and add a SPN so they can retrieve their Kerberos service ticket. Once the Kerberos service ticket has been retrieved, the user object is modified again and the SPN removed.Would this be spotted and alerted by Defender for ID?4769Domain Controllers
This event is generated when a TGS ticket is requested. When malicious actors execute Kerberoasting, event 4769 is generated for each TGS ticket that is requested for a user object
Malicious actors commonly try to retrieve TGS tickets with Rivest Cipher 4 (RC4) encryption as these tickets are easier to crack to reveal their cleartext password. If a TGS is requested with RC4 encryption, then the Ticket Encryption type contains the value ‘0x17’ for event 4769. As this encryption type is less frequently used, there should be fewer instances of event 4769 with RC4 encryption, making it easier to identify potential Kerberoasting activity.
Common offensive security tools used by malicious actors to perform Kerberoasting will set the Ticket Options value to ‘0x40800000’ or ‘0x40810000’. These values determine the capabilities of the TGS ticket and how it can be used by malicious actors. As these Ticket Options values are commonly used by offensive security tools to perform Kerberoasting, they can be used to identify Kerberoasting activity.

send from alias enabled for individual users instead of org wide
Hello,
There currently exists an org wide setting to enable users to send from their aliases. This allows any user to send from their aliases or .onmicrosoft.com domain.
I would like to request a feature to have this ability on the mailbox level instead of org wide. I only want to enable this feature for a small subset of users instead of org wide and currently cannot do this.

Removing Outdated App Installation Errors in Microsoft Intune
Hello everyone,
I’m experiencing an issue with my Microsoft Intune dashboard. It continues to show app installation errors for users who no longer exist on the Windows 11 devices, as they have been removed. These error messages relate to both Win32 apps and Microsoft Store apps and seem outdated, cluttering the dashboard.
Is there a way to remove or clean up these outdated error messages? Is it possible to delete these error messages directly on the device or initiate a complete re-evaluation?
For example, the Company Portal app was deployed as a Microsoft Store app for Windows 11 devices. The following image shows the existing installation error:
Any tips or solutions would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance!

Upcoming Changes to Instance Size Flexibility Ratios for Reserved VM Instances for M-series: What Yo
Overview
In the ever-evolving landscape of cloud computing, it is crucial to stay informed about changes that may affect your usage and business. We are writing to notify you about some important updates related to Azure Reserved Virtual Machine Instance (RI) for M-series.
What is happening?
As we continue to offer a wide selection of SKUs for M-series VMs, on December 6, we will be updating the instance size flexibility ratios for this product to optimize reservation discount within instance size flexibility groups and their respective SKUs.
How do instance size flexibility ratios work?
When you purchase a RI, you can choose to optimize for instance size flexibility or capacity priority. When you choose instance size flexibility, it allows the RI discount to apply to all VM sizes (SKUs) within that instance size flexibility group. The discount application varies based on the VM size selected when purchasing RIs, the sizes of VMs in use, and the ratio, which represents the relative footprint for each VM size within the instance size flexibility group. See an example of instance size flexibility group, SKUs included in that group and their ratios in the table below.
Figure 1. Example of instance size flexibility group
Why is this important?
If you have reservations for M-series VMs, optimized for instance size flexibility, you may notice changes in your reservation coverage. Although there are no price changes, your reservation utilization could change due to the changes in ratios.
Change in instance size flexibility ratios will impact the total units/VMs covered by RI, it will either increase or decrease RI coverage. Coverage for each VM SKU is measured by RI Normalization ratio, which is provided in the usage file under the additional info attribute, which can be downloaded from Cost Management (see more details on this process here).
If the RI Normalization ratio increases, the RI Coverage will decrease, resulting in overages/additional costs. If the ratio decreases, the RI will cover more VMs.
What do I need to do?
Prior to December 6, please review the list of SKUs with updated instance size flexibility ratios to understand if your VMs will be impacted. If you don’t have reservations for SKUs (VM sizes) listed in that list, these changes will not affect you.
Starting December 6, start to review your RI utilization to understand how the updated ratios may have impacted your coverage. You can find step by step guidance on how to review your utilization in the Azure Portal leveraging this MS Learn Page.
If your reservations are underutilized, you can run more VMs of that instance, exchange unused reservations to a VM family that is not covered by an RI or you could trade-in unused reservations to an Azure savings plan for compute to increase savings. You can also find additional guidance leveraging Azure Advisor to identify additional ways to save within your environment.
If your reservations are 100% utilized, it is recommended to review your cost savings recommendations in Azure Advisor to identify additional ways to save within your environment such as purchasing additional RIs or savings plans. Please note that it can take up to a few days for Azure Advisor recommendations to update based on the updated ratios.
If you want to learn more about how to manage your billing account and subscriptions, please visit the Cost Management + Billing documentation.
If you are having cost management or invoice related issues because of this change, please contact support.

Planning a 24H2 in-place upgrade from 23H2 using Feature Update:
I’m planning to roll out Windows 11 24H2 as an in-place upgrade from 23H2 using Feature Update in Microsoft Config Manager (SCCM). I’m considering the following approach:
I will use the Task Sequence to upgrade the devices from 23H2 to 24H2 using Feature Update.WHY Task Sequence: I also want to update the drivers and bios of the system and take the opportunity to update the devices (see screenshot for more information).
Any advice, sample Task Sequence or best practices from anyone using the similar upgrade process would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

New role recommendation: Read Only Exchange Admin
To fully leverage PIM, we are transitioning to Entra roles wherever possible. We wish we could get off of customized Exchange RBAC roles, but the Exchange Recipient Admin role, lacks access to information like mail flow rules, which is essential for troubleshooting mail delivery issues. We would appreciate the introduction of a read-only role that allows viewing all information in Exchange without the ability to make changes.

SharePoint roadmap pitstop – October 2024
I and Count Dracula 365 (you’ll hear my alter ego nudge his way into the podcast episode several times), are excited to bring you a roadmap pitstop filled with jump ScarePoint agents, Little Shop of Clipchamps, chilling OneDrive reanimations, eerie amplified Amplify amplifications, and more.
Yessssssssssss (in the voice the slithering snake, Kaa, from Disney’s “The Jungle Book”), October 2024 brought many spooky and exciting updates – no bones about it (ok, a skull or two, maybe): Copilot agents in SharePoint, Clipchamp for Microsoft 365 E3 and E5, Copilot in Viva Amplify, SharePoint eSignature: Adobe Acrobat Sign and Docusign integration, SharePoint: Design Ideas, Microsoft Lists: Add approvals to any list, Copilot agents in OneDrive (announced), Colorful folders in Windows File Explorer, SharePoint list and library rules will now send notifications from the no-reply@sharepointonline.com email address, New Planner for the Web, Teams new calendar experience, and more. Mwah hah ha ha haaaaah!!!
Details and screenshots below, including our audible companion: The Intrazone Roadmap Pitstop: October 2024 podcast episode – all to help answer, “What’s rolling out now for SharePoint and related technologies into Microsoft 365?”, plus a few audio snippets from the OneDrive October 8th, 2024 event, a new tech song for SharePoint Advanced Management: “SAM – Copiloting Securely” (thanks Dustin Willard), and vonderful visits from my aforementioned vampiric friend, Count Dracula 365!
All features listed below began rolling out to Targeted Release customers in Microsoft 365 as of October 2024 (possibly early November 2024).
Inform and engage with dynamic employee experiences.
Build your intelligent intranet on SharePoint in Microsoft 365 and get the benefits of investing in business outcomes – reducing IT and development costs, increasing business speed and agility, and up-leveling the dynamic, personalized, and welcoming nature of your intranet.
Copilot agents in SharePoint
Copilot agents in SharePoint work for you, your team, and people you work with across your organization to help enhance knowledge sharing and teamwork. In a single click, create and share a Copilot agent in SharePoint, grounded in only the information you want.
From your SharePoint document library, select only the folders or files you want. Agents reason over the scoped set of SharePoint content to answer your questions, summarize information, or provide valuable insights, giving the most current and accurate response.
Copilot agents are automatically enabled in every SharePoint site. And then you can create additional agents with specific purposes, grounded by other content – other document libraries – to serve the purpose of sharing knowledge, without you being the copy/paste/respond person tied to email and chat; create an agent to work for you.
Note: Targeted release is coming soon; look for more availability details in November 2024.

Microsoft 365 Copilot in Microsoft Viva Amplify
Our goal here is to enhance your authoring experience with AI. That’s why we’re bringing Copilot into Viva Amplify. It will be available in the Campaign Brief and Publication authoring canvases.
With our Copilot editor experience, by selecting the rewrite capability, Copilot will suggest diverse ways to rewrite your content, providing options that vary in style, structure, and emphasis. Copilot allows you to shorten or expand your content based on your needs. You can tailor your text to meet word counts without compromising quality. Copilot helps you shift the tone of your writing. The Viva Amplify Copilot rich text editor (RTE) supports the following tones: Casual, Professional, Enthusiastic, Engaging, and Creative.
Some important news: A Microsoft 365 Copilot license is not required to use this new feature. If you have a Viva Amplify license through Microsoft Viva Suite, Microsoft Viva Communications and Communities, or another Viva license, you can use Copilot in Viva Amplify. NOTE: A customer that has a Viva Amplify license but does not have a Microsoft 365 Copilot license will not have access to Copilot on Microsoft SharePoint pages.
This feature is available by default for all Viva Amplify users in the web/desktop experience. Note: Amplify on mobile iOS and Android applications is currently out of scope. Last, a reminder: Disabling Copilot only exists at the tenant level.

SharePoint eSignature: Adobe Acrobat Sign and Docusign integration, rolling out globally
Now you can eSign with choice. It is now possible to use third-party providers, wherever they are supported. You are no longer required to enable native SharePoint eSignature as a prerequisite for enabling either Docusign or Adobe Acrobat Sign.
From a deployment and enablement perspective, you do have to set up Pay-as-you-go to enable SharePoint eSignature, but Microsoft will not charge customers for using third-party providers. Admins need to enable the feature in the Microsoft admin center at Setup > Automate content with Syntex> Go to Syntex > eSignature – and then admins can enable a third-party provider without enabling native SharePoint eSignature, and vice versa.
Once configured, Microsoft 365 users who have licenses with Adobe Acrobat Sign or Docusign will be able to initiate eSignature requests with these providers directly from SharePoint within Microsoft 365.

Teamwork updates across SharePoint team sites, OneDrive, and Microsoft Teams
Microsoft 365 is designed to be a universal toolkit for teamwork – to give you the right tools for the right task, along with common services to help you seamlessly work across applications. SharePoint is the intelligent content service that powers teamwork – to better collaborate on proposals, projects, and campaigns throughout your organization – with integration across Microsoft Teams, OneDrive, Yammer, Stream, Planner and much more.
SharePoint: Design Ideas is now available.
SharePoint page authors and editors will now be able to use Design Ideas on their compatible sections – to enhance sections with new layouts and formatting. Design Ideas identifies the text and webpart content of the section and suggests new layouts, backgrounds, text formatting, and image webparts to enhance the section. You can then select the suggestions to apply them.
When you click into a new section with one blank text webpart, Design Ideas will offer formatting options that you can add to get started. After your section has additional content, Design Ideas will summarize your text to provide appropriate image webparts and background suggestions along with basic text formatting.

Microsoft Lists: Add approvals to any list.
This gives you the ability to configure Approvals by going to the Automate dropdown from the command bar in the Lists app, or if you’re working directly in SharePoint. Approvals will be actioned and available from Microsoft Teams. Note that disabling approvals will only hide the relevant columns and in-progress approvals will still be actionable in Teams. At any time, you can manually add approvals columns back into views.
After Approvals are enabled, a user can create a list item and submit it for approval. By creating an approval request and specifying the approver, the request will appear in the Approvals app in Teams or can be approved directly within the list. Once approved, the list item status gets updated.
And there’s a nice fail-safe feature the team built in. If a list item was sent through a review/approval process, and was approved – any change to the item post approval will trigger a warning pop-up that lets the person know that this amount, or date, or status change has been approved and shouldn’t be adjusted; to maintain good governance and process – all auditable throughout the entire review and approval process.

OneDrive Oct. 8th event + announcements
OneDrive is your gateway to seamlessly managing files, photos, and memories across work, home, and everywhere in between – like your favorite coffee shop. OneDrive is transforming how the world collaborates, stores, and connects.
At the OneDrive event , the team unveiled a great lineup of new features designed to help you work smarter, stay organized, and relive life’s best moments – all through the magic of AI. Whether you’re an IT Pro managing enterprise-grade compliance or a parent organizing family memories, OneDrive has you covered.
Copilot agents in OneDrive: You’ll be able to gather relevant files, documents, and data into a powerful, shareable assistant that knows everything about your project.
Updated Document Libraries: Coming mid-next year, we’ll be making significant improvements to the document library experience – making it easier and faster to navigate, switch to and create custom views, and filter large data sets.
Site Policy Comparison Report: We’re introducing the AI-driven site policy comparison report. With a few clicks, you can identify comparable sites and which policies they are missing, to ensure your organization remains compliant. This will be in public preview at the end of 2024.
Microsoft Graph Data Connect (MGDC): We’ve improved our OneDrive Sync Health Reports by integrating them with MGDC, allowing admins to export data into Power BI or Excel for customized reports. Now available in public preview.

OneDrive: Colorful folders, in the OneDrive folder, are coming to the Microsoft Windows File Explorer
That’s right, Explorer.exe gets a full spectrum of light into your desktop folders. You will be able to see folder colors applied from OneDrive on the web in your OneDrive folder in File Explorer; and you can adjust them in File Explorer by right clicking a folder name and then selecting OneDrive > Folder color.
It really uplevels the look and feel and useability of your folders, especially as you start to establish what distinct colors mean to your way of working, that now travels and remains consistent no matter where you work with your files.

SharePoint list and library rules will now send notifications from the no-reply@sharepointonline.com email address.
We’re making a change to how emails are sent for customers that use list or document library rules, – created from the Automate dropdown. You specify an automated ‘send to’ email based on when a change occurs: A new file or item is added, a file or item is deleted, and file or item metadata conditions get updated.
To align system generated emails with best practices, these emails will now come from the no-reply@sharepointonline.com email address with the display name “SharePoint Online”. Previously, these emails would be sent on behalf of the user that made a file or item update.

Exchange server transport logs reading tool
Hi Exchange Brain Trust,
I need to get rid of any inactive IP addresses out of my SMTP receive connectors in Exchange 2019 server (Hybrid environment). Is there a free tool to monitor/study transport logs which provides a good UI as opposed to notepad readings?
Appreciate any suggestions. Thank you!

Send Messages using Bot/Change Notification in MS Teams
I have some questions regarding bot functionality within Microsoft Teams.
I’m developing an app/plug-in to monitor and analyze all incoming messages in chats and channels. The goal is to intercept these messages, check them for specific flagged (e.g., inappropriate) content, and instantly send a notification back to the respective chat or channel if flagged content is detected. I need to achieve this in real time.
Currently, I’ve implemented the first half of this functionality using Microsoft Graph’s change notifications API, allowing me to intercept and read messages as they arrive. However, I’m facing a limitation: since my app doesn’t have permissions to post messages, I can’t use the Graph API’s send capabilities to notify users within the channels or chats.
To work around this, I’m considering utilizing a bot. My approach is to have a bot send these notifications to the appropriate chats and channels, using identifiers such as tenant ID, team ID, channel ID, message ID, and chat ID—information I retrieve through the change notifications API.
So here are my main questions:
Can I use a bot to send messages to various chats and channels on demand, leveraging the IDs obtained from the change notifications API? This would allow my app to handle message interception while the bot takes over in sending the flagged notifications. In my current setup, is there a way to reply to chats or channels directly using the Graph API’s ‘send’ functionality through the app itself? It is related to Application/Delegation Permissions.
Thanks

Access to Word Document
Office 365. I have an Access report with one image (logo) and 4 subreports as a Print Preview. I need to save it as a Word .docx.
Would it be best to just use the export to word command on the Print Preview tab or should I try to set it up as a merge document? It would require subdocuments, I believe. I will need to give it a unique name, based on the data in the report.
Once it is in Word, can I make changes from Access? Can I re-open the Word document from Access at a later date to edit it?
OR is there a better way???
Please help. Thanks in advance.

Introducing the Data-Bound Reference Layer in Azure Maps Visual for Power BI
Imagine managing a nationwide sales team and needing to understand how your sales align with factors like population density, competitor locations, or even regional weather patterns. Visualizing this data on a map offers powerful insights—not only showing where your team is excelling but also uncovering new market opportunities. Now, with the Data-Bound Reference Layer feature in the Azure Maps visual for Power BI, you can achieve this level of insight, blending geographic and business data for enriched decision-making.
What is the Data-Bound Reference Layer?
The Data-Bound Reference Layer is an advanced capability that enables users to bind their data directly to custom reference layers in the Azure Maps visual. Think of it as adding a multi-dimensional view to your Power BI maps. With support for data from multiple sources, such as Shapefiles, GeoJSON, and many more datasets, users can create a fully customizable, data-driven map that renders polygons based on live data.
This reference layer acts as a “contextual overlay” on your map. Standard data points in Power BI visuals highlight locations, but the Data-Bound Reference Layer goes further, allowing you to visualize additional insights, such as demographic boundaries, sales territories, or high-priority zones. What used to be a static, single-dimension map can now become an interactive, fully adaptable visualization that changes as your data does, providing real-time insights as conditions evolve.
Conditional Formatting: Making Data Pop
The power of the Data-Bound Reference Layer extends with conditional formatting, which allows you to style maps dynamically based on your data values. Colors, shapes, and sizes can be tailored to specific data thresholds, making it easier to spot trends, outliers, and areas needing immediate attention.
For instance, in disaster response, a map showing hospital densities can use conditional formatting to highlight regions with lower hospital coverage in a distinct color, or adjust opacity to signify areas with infrastructure vulnerabilities. This provides instant, actionable insight for responders to prioritize their resources where they are most needed.
Dynamic URL Sources: Adapting Layers to Changing Conditions
With dynamic URL capabilities, you can use Data Analysis Expressions (DAX) to set URLs for reference layers that adapt based on data conditions. This is perfect for scenarios requiring responsive maps, such as tracking different data sets by user selection. For example, by dynamically linking product performance across regions, reference layers can shift in real-time to reflect selected categories, giving you highly interactive and relevant visualizations.
How to Get Started with Data-Bound Reference Layers
Enable Azure Maps in Power BI: Confirm that Azure Maps is enabled within your Power BI environment, so you can start incorporating spatial data into your reports.
Add a Data-Bound Reference Layer: Navigate to the Azure Maps visual in Power BI, and upload your reference data in supported formats, like GeoJSON or Shapefiles, as a new layer.
Apply Conditional Formatting: Customize the appearance of each layer using color gradients, transparency, or sizing, aligning your map’s visual cues with data values and thresholds for immediate clarity.
Interact and Analyze: Like other Power BI visuals, Azure Maps allows for interactivity, so you can zoom in on specific areas, compare data layers, and uncover insights directly within your map.
Real-World Example: Retail Site Selection
Imagine a retailer evaluating new store locations. By overlaying demographic and income data as reference layers, they can quickly assess regions with high potential. With conditional formatting, income levels above a certain threshold could display in one color, while lower income areas display in another, making it easy to spot regions with high purchasing power. This data-driven approach allows them to pinpoint the most promising sites for expansion, maximizing investment in the right areas.
Unlock Deeper Insights with Azure Maps and Power BI
The Data-Bound Reference Layer in Azure Maps for Power BI elevates map-based reporting by allowing users to visually explore, understand, and act on their data. This feature enables new possibilities for data analysts, business leaders, and decision-makers reliant on spatial insights—whether optimizing logistics, selecting retail locations, or planning infrastructure projects. With the combined power of Azure Maps, Data-Bound Reference Layers, and Conditional Formatting, your maps can tell a more compelling story, driving smarter, more strategic business actions.
Take the next step in your data journey—let Azure Maps unlock a new level of insight in Power BI!

XLOOKUP Help
I have a spreadsheet that uses XLOOKUP to pull data from one tab into another. I have matching references on each tab to identify the data. However, I now need to add data from a new date. How can I adjust my XLOOKUP to only pull the data from a particular date? An example of one of the current formulas is XLOOKUP($C8,’DATA ‘!$B:$B,’DATA ‘!Z:Z). C8 is the refrence and DATAB:B is the reference column. My new date column is DATA!B:B.

Page numbers for PDFs
Hi – we’re using Copilot pretty effectively to summarize and interrogate PDFs. Does anyone know of a way to get page number-specific references/citations when asking Copilot targeted questions of the document?
For example: “Find discussions in the document related to some topic“
This identifies relevant parts of the document, but the citations always point to the entire document, and do not identify specific pages.
