Microsoft Quashes Bad Habit of Sending Passwords in Email
MC837081 announces that the Microsoft 365 admin center is to lose its ability to send password in email after updating a user account. It’s the right thing to do because sending passwords in email is bad practice and encourages people to treat passwords with less respect than they should. The long term solution is to move away from passwords, but it will take time before Microsoft 365 is passwordless.

What is the best alternative to Disk Drill?
I’m having trouble recovering deleted files on my Windows PC using Disk Drill. Despite multiple attempts, it hasn’t been able to retrieve the files I need. My primary needs are recovering deleted files, including documents, photos, and videos. While Disk Drill has been effective. I’m starting to lose hope with this tool and I’m looking for a reliable alternative that can effectively recover my lost data.

SharePoint query throttle exception
Hi,
we are developing app for our customer, where we interact with document library.
It recently passed 5000 items and switched to throttle mode. Im now trying to solve displaying items in our app, so they can interact with it.
This is the main query for data:

All the fields used in order and filter are indexed. Currently it contains around 5050 documents and this query should return around 2800 – I tested that using Excel, where I exported the query from the Document library, opened it in Excel and selected respective fields as in the filter.
We cannot pinpoint source of the SPQueryThrottle Exception.
On folders with less documents it works just fine.

Excel IF Formula Combination Help
Hi,
I’d like to create a formula which looks at column A for a value containing ‘MD’ if it contains this then to go to column B AND C and if they both state ‘Complete’ then to return words in column D with ‘Case Closed’
If column A does not contain ‘MD’ then return a blank and not to move to the if statement or next stage.
If one of the two Column B and C contain any other words then column D should return words ‘Case Open’
Hope that all makes sense. Is this possible?

Notepad typing problem from spellcheck I suppose
After upgraded to Windows 11, the new Notepad and other MS apps I use I observed the new functionality to save the file and to have it after restart, even if not saved. That’s ok.
But, using daily notepad, and typing a lot sometimes in it, I observed a bug recently. Because I blind-type, I observed when typing some characters did not appear, even if I certainly typed them.
Normally I just ignored and insisted to type the missing character(s). But after a time because this phenomenon repeated, I tried to view what can be the problem. In MS Word all normal. But in notepad it kept not registering some characters …and that randomly, not because maybe I have a keyboard problem. Not at all. I tested that also. As I said, in MS Word all normal, but in notepad not.
I observed also that the spell check works in the new notepad, but you don’t have the possibility to activate/deactivate or simply change the language from the app config. I assume they are simply inherited from the Windows 11 general configs.
So after that, I supposed that this could be the problem. More exactly the source of the problem could be the spell-check. And I explain.
For a simple test, I made a new notepad file and in that new notepad file I didn’t had typing problem …till some time.
I say this, because I use a “note” notepad file every day, adding things always on top of it. So after some time it became big (at least big for a notepad point of view).
So I suppose the typing problem in notepad is …when it became big the spellcheck is allways trying to recheck all content and till not finishing the recheck the typing doesn’t work normally (because in background the system is “occupied” with something else that is prioritized – i.e. with spell checking all the big file content).
I assume that in MS Word the things are differently, and it does not recheck allways all the content, or maybe has different resources allocated for that process so that it doesn’t kill, or suspend sometimes, the typing process.
Corect me if I am wrong.
But that is what I observed.
PS. As a solution for me for that, I began to use for the big files the MS Word again, and for notepad olnly small files or opening new file for typing something ocassionally and then just copy/paste what I just typed back in the big file.

Sortby and Filter together – Circular Reference Error
I am trying to sort (using SORTBY) a filter array on two columns, one which is value derived from another of the columns in the range being filtered. I get an error saying that there’s a circular reference — which there is.
To be more specific: I have 3 columns, a word list, the date the word was added, and a column indicating (by 1 or 0) a “rating” for the word.
One of the sorting columns is the date column. It’s value is based on an XLOOKUP to a chart of words and the date they were added. Some words have blank dates (unknown). So the date column is derived from the word list column.
Filtering the list on the rating indicator works, but when I try to sort by the looked-up date column, I get the error.
Thanks to anyone who can say how to fix this problemand sort the filtered results by 2 columns.

We are in the process of implementing M365 CoPilot for a limited number of users as part of an adoption phase.
As for the users, we will progressively extend CoPilot’s visibility (see segregation) of the user tenant resources once validated by our team.To be clear, for example, CoPilot works across all of Graph, but initially, we would exclude SharePoint and focus only on Exchange.How can we achieve this? Is it possible?

Migrated Surface Hub 3 doesn’t log on
I have installed a Surface Hub 3 (updated with compute cartridge) using Autopilot and followed the guide to Teams auto-login (Deploy Surface Hub with Windows Autopilot & Teams Rooms Auto-login – Surface Hub | Microsoft Learn) but the device doesn’t (apparently) retrieve the user from the Teams Pro Management Portal and doesn’t auto-login.
I don’t have any Intune configuration that prevents local login (only Defender configuration).
Any suggestions on how to get auto-login working properly??

Importing and Exporting a List Template (.stp file) in SharePoint
Developers often need to import the same data for reuse across SharePoint sites. They want an effective way to import and manage this data across sites and want to preserve environment settings, rather than having to start from scratch each time.
As a developer, if you’re using the modern experience in SharePoint, the option to upload a SharePoint list template (.stp) file isn’t obvious in your settings. Also, if you try to upload it, you might get a message that says, “Sorry, you don’t have access.”
However, the option to upload a list template is easy to see and works well when you use the classic experience in the SharePoint admin center. In this technical article, you will learn how developers can handle data replication between sites by importing SharePoint lists using the classic experience.
Accessing the SharePoint Admin Center
To get started, sign in to the SharePoint admin center with your administrator credentials. The admin center gives you access to your environment’s settings and customizations.
Creating a Classic SharePoint Site
Once you’ve entered the SharePoint admin center, go to the Sites or Active sites area. To create a new SharePoint site, select Create or New. When choosing the site template, select the template that uses the classic experience because it provides the features required for list import.
Uploading Lists Across Sites
After setting up your classic SharePoint site, navigate to the site where you want to import the list. To access the site’s settings, go to the Web Designer Galleries category, choose Site Settings, and then choose List Templates.
Leveraging the Classic SharePoint Admin Center to Use Uploaded Lists
After you upload the file, go to the settings gear and select Add an app. Locate and choose the uploaded list template. To complete the import process, enter the necessary information for the new list, and then select Create or OK.

Cert Based Auth no longer working on Android devices.
Curious as to how wide spread this is/will be. Windows and iOS is fine, only affecting android.
You can easily test this by revoking MFA sessions on a user who is using cert based auth on a android phone.
I’m not sure if there has been a update recently to Android Microsoft Office apps where it thinks the certs live inside the intune company portal and is not looking for certs in the phones cert store.
BYOD work profile Android 14 phones are being problematic, when a user changed their password and Azure revoked their sessions for a reauth, the issue started occurring.
I tested this on another user manually revoking their MFA sessions without changing their password same issue occurred. I also setup a brand new Android phone and had the same issue after enrolling it.
The issue is when the user opens outlook or teams and goes to sign in, it will pop up asking to use a cert on the device or a physical key. When selecting on the device the phone will freeze it will then eventually say “”company portal isn’t responding” with the options of wait or cancel. Opening chrome in the work profile and going to a office app site will popup asking for the cert and works fine. So the issue doesn’t appear to be the phone getting the cert, just the Office Apps are not accessing the Phones cert Store. I can confirm the Cert is inside the work profile as a browser or cert viewer app inside the workprofile can see it, auths work fine when using a browser in work profile, just not outlook or teams inside the work profile.

Copilot getting aloof when addressed as “Computer”.
Long story short, I’ve watched too much Star Trek, I pre-face any voice command with “Computer”. Copilot becomes very whimsical and aloof when I do this, any way to instruct the system to be more serious?
The issue started when I made a small joke by stating “Computer, tea, Earl Grey, hot.”, it was downhill from there.

Team Android Mobile app syncing issue
I am writing to bring to your attention a critical issue affecting a significant portion of our fleet of Android devices. Approximately 10-20 percent of our devices are experiencing a perplexing problem with the Teams application, wherein certain teams fail to sync and update properly.
To date the only fix is for the user to log into a web browser version of teams and look at the teams channel it then updates on the tablet.
The symptoms of this issue are as follows: despite new posts being made in a channel, affected devices display outdated information and fail to reflect the latest updates. Consequently, users are unable to access crucial information in a timely manner, significantly impeding workflow and collaboration efforts.
To date, we have exhausted various troubleshooting measures, all of which have proven ineffective in resolving the issue. These include:
Clearing cache and temporary files: This action results in channels appearing blank, devoid of any data, including both old and new posts.
Logging out and then back in: Despite attempting to re-authenticate, the problem persists.
Deleting the Teams application from the device: Reinstalling the application has not yielded any improvements.
Interestingly, we have observed that if a user is tagged in a post, the content becomes accessible through the activity tab of Teams. However, this workaround is not a sustainable solution for our operational needs.
Given the severity of this issue and its adverse impact on our productivity, we urgently require your assistance in identifying and rectifying the root cause from the administrative side. Any insights or guidance you can provide to resolve this matter expediently would be greatly appreciated.

on a SharePoint Library i used a JSON to hide the new, upload and share button, describe here: Command bar customization syntax reference | Microsoft Learn
For my created views, this works perfectly. In my document library i have some required fields, and the out of the box view “Files that need attention“.
if i go to Format current view –> Switch to design mode -> And paste the same json there, i get an error: Error saving view format
