How do I get my personal events (in Apple calendar) to show up as busy in Bookings (without details)
Hello, I need to start using Bookings, but I find it completely incomprehensible and unintuitive, and I am lost! I want to have a Bookings calendar to show my availability and let people reserve time, but I need all the events in my Apple calendars to show up as busy on Bookings, so I don’t get double-booked. Does anyone know how to do this? I’d like the times I’m unavailable to say just “busy,” rather than “First date with George.” TIA!

I have a #REF error on one PC but not another
We have a workbook with no external links. On my PC there are no errors. On another user’s PC we get #REF errors.
Formula setup: In one cell we have a a Data Validation dropdown list with the source setup as =INDIRECT(Named_Range) that refers to a column in a table. In this cell, the dropdown list does not work because of a #REF error. When I look in Name Manager, I can see the correct data referenced for the named range in the “Value” column (there is no #REF error here). In another cell we have another dropdown list set up exactly the same way referring to a different table that works without errors.
What we’ve tried:
Both computers are using the same version of Excel (same build number too: Version 2406 Build 17726.20126).We have the same add-ins running on both computers.We have checked Options > Advanced > For objects, show: All and it is selected on both PCsWe have uninstalled and reinstalled Office.We have updated both Office and Windows, but the problem persists.
Any thoughts on what I could try next? Thanks! I’m pulling my hair out over this one.

Can sort by recipient name but can’t jump to name by typing the first letter
In this “amazing” (sarcasm) new Outlook, is there a way to sort your inbox or sent items alphabetically and then type the first letter of the recipient’s name to jump to that section?
This is important because often users might be doing some correspondence with someone but forget their name or don’t know the correct spelling.
Or let me guess…. the “work around” is to keep scrolling and scrolling until you get to the letter.

Sending OneDrive Files Externally is not working correctly
We send OneDrive file links to external partners. I setup a test account with F3 licensing which is what these users have. Sending from my test account to a Gmail account, the Gmail account receives the email, clicks the link and enters the email address and one time passcode…. no issues opening and downloading the files.
For other users, when they send, the link forces them to login into our tenant to download the file. The external user doesn’t have a guest account in our tenant so they have an error. I don’t understand why it’s doing this for the other users and not my test account. All settings are the same for both users. Below are the default sharing settings in SharePoint admin. How can I fix this quickly? Thanks

Running Open AI Whisper Model on Azure
Whisper is an advanced automatic speech recognition (ASR) system, developed using 680,000 hours of supervised multilingual and multitask data from the web. This extensive and diverse data set enhances its ability to handle various accents, background noise, and technical jargon. Whisper not only transcribes multiple languages but also translates them into English. We are making the models and inference code open source to provide a robust foundation for developing practical applications and advancing research in speech processing. The Whisper model, developed by OpenAI, converts speech to text and is ideal for transcribing audio files. Trained on an extensive dataset of English audio and text, it excels at transcribing English speech but can also handle other languages, producing English text as output. We have Whisper models accessible through the Azure Open AI service. The Whisper model by Azure OpenAI provides varied solutions for different scenarios. It excels in transcribing and analyzing prerecorded audio and video files. It is also ideal for the quick processing of individual audio files. It can transcribe phone call recordings and provide analytics such as call summary, sentiment, key topics, and custom insights. Similarly, it can transcribe meeting recordings and provide analytics like meeting summary, meeting chapters, and action item extraction. The Whisper model also supports contact center voice agent services like call routing and interactive voice response and is suitable for application-specific voice assistants in various scenarios such as set-top boxes, mobile apps, in-car systems, and more. However, it does not support real-time transcription, pronunciation assessment, or translation of live or prerecorded audio. It is recommended for translating prerecorded audio from other languages into English.
Developers using Whisper in Azure AI Speech benefit from additional capabilities such as processing of large file sizes up to 1GB, speaker diarization, and the ability to fine-tune the Whisper model using audio plus human-labeled transcripts.
For accessing Whisper, developers can use the Azure OpenAI Studio. The Whisper REST API supports translation services from a growing list of languages to English. The Whisper model is a significant addition to Azure AI’s broad portfolio of capabilities, offering innovative ways to improve business productivity and user experience.
Here is a code snippet on how to use Azure Open AI Whisper API in python.
import openai
import time
import os
import os
import urllib
from IPython.display import Audio
from pathlib import Path
from pydub import AudioSegment
import ssl
openai.api_type = “azure”
openai.api_version = “2023-09-01-preview”
model_name = “whisper”
deployment_id = “whisper”
audio_language=”en”
audio_test_file = “./wikipediaOcelot.wav”
#Azure OpenAI CONFIGURATION
from openai import AzureOpenAI
client = AzureOpenAI(
api_key=”yourkey”,
api_version=”2023-12-01-preview”,
azure_endpoint = “https://instance.openai.azure.com/”
)
def transcribe_audio(file):
transcript = openai.audio.transcriptions.create(
file=open(audio_test_file, “rb”),

print(transcribe_audio(audio_test_file))
Best Practices for using Whisper API in Azure.
Whisper API does offer a variety of parameters that can be utilized for more specific transcriptions. The prompt parameter in the OpenAI Whisper API allows you to guide the transcription process by providing specific instructions or conditions. For example, you could use the prompt parameter to instruct the API to ignore or exclude certain words or phrases from the transcription. This can be particularly useful when you want to filter out specific content or when handling sensitive information. By using the prompt parameter, you’re able to customize the transcription output to better suit your specific needs or requirements
def transcribe_audio(file):
transcript = openai.audio.transcriptions.create(
file=open(audio_test_file, “rb”),
model=”whisper”,
probability=0.5
prompt=”your prompt text”,
response_format=”verbose_json”
response_format=”text”
)
Preprocessing
Preprocessing in the context of audio transcription involves preparing the audio data to improve the quality and accuracy of the transcription. It’s a crucial step that can significantly impact the results. Here are the main steps involved in audio preprocessing:
Trimming: This involves removing unnecessary parts of the audio, such as silences at the beginning or end of the audio file. Trimming can help reduce the size of the audio file and also eliminate sections that might cause inaccuracies in the transcription.
Segmentation: For long audio files, it can be beneficial to break them down into smaller, manageable segments. This can make the transcription process more efficient and also improve accuracy as it’s easier to manage and process shorter audio clips.
Audio Quality Enhancement: This may involve tasks like noise reduction, volume normalization, and echo cancellation. Improving the audio quality can significantly enhance the accuracy of the transcription.
Audio Format Conversion: The audio files need to be in a format that is compatible with the transcription service. If they are not, they must be converted into a compatible format.
These preprocessing steps are primarily aimed at reducing potential sources of error in the transcription and making the audio data more manageable for the transcription service.
You can use PyDub is a simple and easy-to-use Python library for audio processing tasks such as slicing, concatenating, and exporting audio files.
Post Processing
In the context of audio transcription, the output from the initial transcription process can be further refined using Language Models like GPT-3.5. This step is known as post-processing.
In post-processing, the initial transcript, which could potentially contain errors or inconsistencies, is passed to the language model. The language model, guided by its training and potentially a system prompt, generates a corrected or refined version of the transcript.
This process allows for the correction of errors, better context understanding, and even the rephrasing or summarization of the content, depending on the specific system prompt provided. It is an effective way to leverage the capabilities of language models to improve the quality and usefulness of audio transcriptions.
def generate_corrected_transcript(temperature, system_prompt, audio_file):
response = client.chat.completions.create(
model=”gpt4″,
temperature=temperature,
messages=[
{
“role”: “system”,
“content”: system_prompt
},
{
“role”: “user”,
“content”: transcribe_audio(audio_file)
}
]
)
return response.choices[0].message.content

Weekly tasks due messages sent via Teams to specific assignees
Hello, I am looking to optimize my workflow with Power Automate and while it seems like a simple request, my knowledge on Power Automate is limited. We have a SharePoint task list with thousands of different tasks assigned to different people. Each week, I send all assignees in the marketing department an email with everything they have due this week. This takes me a lot of time but helps the team out and we have seen some benefits from it when it comes to assignees knowing what they need to do and completing tasks on time. I would like to automate this…
My thought on how this would work… each Monday at 7am gather all the tasks assigned to the Marketing Department that are due this week. Then the system would run through each assignee and compile as of John Doe’s tasks into a Table format (Title, Due Date, Link to SP) to be sent view Teams. Instead of just doing John Doe’s tasks, once his is complete it would move onto Mary Jane’s tasks, and continue until there are no more names with items due this week.
Any ideas on how to do this? Or do something similar? Copilot hasn’t been much help but that could also just be user error

Cannot assign a PC Microsoft 365 to an existing user
After being granted a nonprofit license, I created a couple of users, selected the products to be used, and registered the Microsoft 365 products of the PCs to the newly created users. And everything worked fine.
Now, I wanted to add a new PC. I installed Microsoft 365 but, when I tried to register it under one of the existing users, I get a message that ‘another account in my organization already has a session initiated on this device. Try again with a different account’ (translated from portuguese, message in english may not be exactly the same).
What has happened, and what is the correct procedure to follow?
Thanks

Limitations for Copilot for Word under 20 page limit is ludicrous
I cannot use Copilot for Word on most of our documents as they are longer than 20 pages. The “workaround” to split the document into different files is also impossible as that makes comparing document to document impossible as not each file extracted (say page 1-20) will never match the document I want to compare it to. Not every document is perfected formatting with sections and headers so that makes it impossible to use as well if you didn’t create them.
If Copilot can only handle 20 pages at a time then why does it not “batch” its logic into 20 pages at a tine so the customer is not the one stuck with extracting every document to meet its limitations?
With the license being so expensive, it should work with any word document we use with our Business Premium license.
As a side note, I asked Copilot the same question on the same word document 5 times and received 5 different answers: 2 were hold on while I do it and never did, the 3rd was you have to do it manually, 4th was I can’t do it and another was I need to use a macro.

SharePoint Webpart page functionality limitations?
There are two issues I am trying to solve regarding SPO webpart pages.
I am rebuilding several SharePoint 2013 sites in SPO and have a several lists I used to display on the sites home page using multiple “list” webparts but cannot get the same results.
New Item opens in a New Tab – I have a custom list with the advanced options set to use Dialogs (Yes). When on the list itself and clicking “new item” a dialog opens as expected however we are using a Webpart page to show several different views of a simple Time Entry app.
Issue: When selecting “New Item” from one of the Webparts a new tab is opened not the Dialog I was hoping/expecting to see. Is there a way to fix/change this without using Power Apps? Below is how the SPF 2013 works and its nice because the NewForm opens as a dialog which allows the “Service Codes” webpart to be visible as a quick reference when entering time.
Context Menu: List items displayed on a Webpart page cannot be edited directly from the webpart, only showing “Share” or “Copy link” or “Delete”. I want to turn off the quick edit but even with that on the context menu is still limited, even to the Site Owner. (Left: SP2013, Right: SPO)
Again, in SPF 2013 we have several consoles pages that use Webparts to show items from different lists or in one view. From the “Console” page the user would normally select an item and take action, either editing the item or accessing custom forms/links from the “Context Menu”.
Task Lists as Webpart: When trying to add a “Tasks” list as a webpart (on right), all task type lists are not available to select? This are used on a console webpart page with multiple other webparts so the user can see all relevant info, eg Unassigned (top left), Active (mid left) and Completed Jobs (left bottom) in separate webpart and Active Tasks (top right) in a 4th webpart. Then take action on the Job items or Task directly from the console page.
Since the context menus and inability to add Tasks lists as a webpart is not working, these consoles are rendered useless, and users will need to have several tabs open on multiple screens to replicate the old SPF 2013 simple one page console.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Graduating the Python Editor to Insiders: Beta
What is happening?
Back in September, we shipped a new experiment to the Excel Labs add-in. This experiment allows you to write and edit Python formulas in Excel using a dedicated code editor with similar capabilities as those available in Python notebook environments.
We are happy to share that we are making the editor available as an in-the-box option, and we have improved the appearance and usability of the Python Editor. You’ll see a slightly different user interface that stays faithful to the original design, and we have more to come!
The Python Editor enhances the Python in Excel experience by providing a bigger editing space for writing larger code blocks as well as productivity features.
From the Python Editor, you can see a list of all the Python cells in your spreadsheet. Each cell is treated like that of a code cell in a Jupyter notebook. Within the Python Editor pane, you can edit the cells and run them. The output of the Python cell can be displayed natively in your Excel spreadsheet, whether it is plain text, numeric, or even a visualization or DataFrame.
This new Python Editor is powered by the same technology that supports notebooks in other popular Microsoft products so you can use the full range of editor features like Intellisense, colorization, and function help as you code in Excel.
With the addition of the Python Editor as a built-in Python in Excel feature, we are excited to further enhance your Python development experience.
What are the benefits of the Python Editor?
The Python Editor offers several benefits when writing and editing Python formulas in Excel.
See the flow of code execution with results: The Python Editor shows Python cells in execution order in addition to the output of each cell’s code, which can help you more easily debug and understand your code. This is useful because, Python in Excel cells execute in row major order.
Easily edit longer chunks of code: The Python Editor provides a new way to create and edit your Python code, offering more immersion when working with longer scripts.
Gain flexibility with coding workflows: The Python Editor allows you to write code, click elsewhere in the application, but not commit the code to Excel until you are happy with it. This gives you more flexibility and control over when and how you apply your code to your workbook. Additionally, when in manual recalc mode, editing and committing from the Editor will calculate just that cell (like a notebook) providing a faster feedback loop.
Try it today!
For the near term, there will still be two versions of the Editor, making it available wherever Python in Excel is available.
Built into Excel: If you are using Insiders: Beta, we have now begun the rollout and you can try out the feature by going to the ribbon and opening the “Editor” button in the “Formulas” tab. It’s next to Insert Python.
Excel Labs: The Python Editor will remain in Excel Labs as we ship to additional audiences. If you aren’t in Insiders: Beta, please refer to our original blog post for installation instructions.
Access Requirements
You need to have access to Python in Excel to make use of the Python Editor. For more information on how to get access to Python in Excel, please check out our accompanying post Python in Excel
We want your feedback!
Excel and Python users can give feedback directly within the application (go to Help > Feedback), suggest improvements on our Feedback portal, or engage with our team on GitHub.

Leveraging insider risk visibility to strengthen your data security
Recent research reveals that insider risks are surging more each day. Over the past year, an alarming 63%[1] of data breaches were traced back to insiders, whether through inadvertent errors or malicious intent. These internal threats call for innovative solutions that can dynamically adapt to data security risks, instead of the widely available fragmented and one-size-fits-all solutions, where rigid controls can stymie legitimate business activities and lenient policies might leave the door open to data loss.
Striking the right balance between productivity and data security is critical, and that’s where the user visibility of Microsoft Purview Insider Risk Management, combined with the dynamic controls of Adaptive Protection, can help. These solutions enable organizations to tailor data protection strategies by integrating insider risk levels, determined by user activities, with different policy engines, allowing for automatic adjustments of policies as insider risk levels change.
Microsoft Purview Insider Risk Management correlates various signals, such as unusual access patterns and data exfiltration, to identify potential malicious or inadvertent insider risks, including IP theft, data leakage, and security violations. Insider Risk Management enables customers to create data handling policies based on their own internal policies, governance, and organizational requirements. Built with privacy by design, users are pseudonymized by default, and role-based access controls and audit logs are in place to help ensure user-level privacy.
The evolution of dynamic controls with Adaptive Protection within access management
This week we’re thrilled to announce the general availability of the integration between Adaptive Protection in Microsoft Purview and Microsoft Entra Conditional Access. Organizations frequently struggle to implement effective data security and access management because they rely on fragmented and siloed solutions. These disjointed approaches hinder the consistent rollout of new security controls and can create exploitable gaps. Microsoft’s integration of Adaptive Protection and Conditional Access, however, offers a streamlined and integrated solution that seamlessly automates access controls for users based on their insider risk levels, thereby reducing the complexity of managing multiple disparate systems.
Consider a scenario where an employee at an organization is flagged as a potential insider risk; they are working on a sensitive project and they start to demonstrate risky activity detected in Insider Risk Management. With the integration of Adaptive Protection and Conditional Access, the organization can swiftly apply access policies to this employee if needed, and these policy controls can increase as the employee’s activities become riskier. The policy will then automatically ramp up controls and can restrict access to critical applications and systems without manual involvement of the data security admin, thus adding a protective layer against insider risks.
In Conditional Access, admins can now combine insights on insider and sign-in risks, to protect data against both external and internal threats with a comprehensive and multi-layered security strategy against unauthorized access, data leaks, and theft. With Conditional Access now being used to tackle both external and insider threats, your data remains secure, thereby bolstering your organization’s resilience against evolving cyber threats.
This protection is complemented by other important capabilities offered with Adaptive Protection. In general availability since last May, the integration of Adaptive Protection Microsoft Purview Data Loss Prevention (DLP) enables enforcement of automatic data protection controls. With users moving in and out of scope of specific data loss policies based on their risk levels, organizations can streamline security measures without extensive manual oversight. Another innovative stride, currently in public preview, is Adaptive Protection’s integration with Microsoft Purview Data Lifecycle Management (DLM), enabling organizations to automatically preserve emails and files.
This process can be exemplified in a scenario where an employee working on a sensitive project is flagged for insider risk levels as their activities grow riskier over time. Initially, when exfiltrating confidential data, they get a warning but are allowed to proceed. After resigning for a new job, stricter controls are enforced, including exfiltration restrictions and a terms of use agreement that they must acknowledge before accessing apps that contain sensitive information. As their risk level increases even more based on continued risky activity, they might have access and exfiltration activities outright blocked, with a policy preserving possible deleted content for audits.
By providing dynamic controls that adjust to changing insider activities and potential incidents, Microsoft is helping organizations fortify their defenses against unauthorized access, data leaks, and data theft. This comprehensive strategy not only protects sensitive data but also reinforces organizational resilience against the ever-evolving landscape of cyber threats.
To learn more about these integrations, watch our mechanics video or explore the ”Rethinking Security from the Inside Out” Report to gain insights into the insider risk landscape, the challenges organizations face with existing tools, and best practices for protecting against data breaches.
The next generation of insider risk insights
To strengthen end-to-end data security approach and provide improved visibility around sensitive data use, we’re constantly releasing new capabilities on Microsoft Purview Insider Risk Management, such as the recent addition of Copilot for Security alert summaries, the inclusion of Communication Compliance signals, and creation of indicators across Microsoft Fabric and 3rd party clouds and apps.
An important development, currently in public preview on Insider Risk Management, is the enhancement of email insights to detect data exfiltration to personal accounts. This feature now provides additional information when business-sensitive data is potentially leaked from a work email account to a free public domain email, which could lead to a data security incident. Identifying when a user sends sensitive information from a corporate account to a personal account is crucial to help protect crucial data, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and preventing data loss.
Another recent public preview novelty are adaptive scopes in Insider Risk Management, a capability that allows admins to use existing adaptive scopes created within the Microsoft Purview compliance portal within Insider Risk Management policies, using queries to define user groups dynamically and providing more control for admins and policy scoping. This feature provides more powerful targeting for policies, allowing different settings to be assigned to users based on attributes from Entra ID without the administrative burden of creating and maintaining groups. For example, when a policy is scoped to all users in the United States, its coverage will be automatically updated as new users get added to the United States employee list.

Email to Calendar tasks
Hey hi, I want to start by saying I have read a few things about how to create calendar tasks from an email. However, I believe those only work for single event emails. I wanted to ask a bit more deeply. I have monthly emails of a bunch of tasks to do by specific dates, and I was curious if there was a way to take all of that and copy it onto the calendar on the appropriate days with the data I need all still intact. It is mostly an idea I am playing around with but if there is a solution I would be glad to hear it!
