How to Compare USB Flash Drive Folders for Duplicate Files
I have a USB flash drive filled with thousands of MP3 song files. Some are organized within an “Artist” folder, while others are scattered in a folder called “Random.” I decided to revamp my music collection by creating a “Done” folder with organized artists and albums, such as Garth Brooks’ albums with complete details like album art, genre, and release year.
I am looking for an easier way to identify and remove duplicate files based on artist names or group names. Currently, I manually search for each artist in the “Random” folder to eliminate duplicates. Is there a more efficient method, perhaps a free program compatible with Windows 11, that can help streamline this process? I want to avoid having multiple copies of the same songs with incorrect file names but correct tags.
If you have any suggestions or recommendations to simplify this task, please let me know. Thank you!

Troubleshooting with SFC /Scannow: Identifying and Fixing Consistently Corrupted Files
Hello,
I have encountered a situation on my Windows system where when running the sfc /scannow command, it often reports errors found in specific files, most notably BthA2dp.sys, BthHfEnum.sys, and bthmodem.sys. Windows indicates that it has successfully repaired these files, but the errors reappear even after reinstalling the wifi/bluetooth drivers.
While my wifi/bluetooth card functions well without any noticeable issues, the consistent recurrence of these repair notifications concerns me. I recall reading somewhere that it might be common for Windows to repair these files periodically, but I would appreciate your confirmation on this matter.
Is there a permanent solution to prevent these files from continually showing as corrupted and repaired? Any guidance on resolving this recurring issue would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

Troubleshooting Issues with Microsoft Print to PDF Functionality
I’ve recently set up a new Epson printer and everything is running smoothly, except for the fact that MS Print to PDF is not functioning properly. Despite removing it in Windows features and attempting to reinstall it, an error message pops up. I then tried to use the DISM commands to remove and reinstall it, but unfortunately, it was unsuccessful.
During the process, I disabled the feature using the command:
“`bash
dism /Online /Disable-Feature /FeatureName:”Printing-PrintToPDFServices-Features” /NoRestart
“`
After which I attempted to enable the feature again with the command:
“`bash
dism /Online /Enable-Feature /FeatureName:”Printing-PrintToPDFServices-Features” /NoRestart
“`
However, I encountered the following error: 0x800f0922. As a result, the DISM operation failed to execute.
Additionally, in my printer management settings, I noticed that there is no port listed for FILE: or PORTPROMPT. Could this absence of ports be the root cause of the issue? If so, how can I rectify this and restore the missing ports?

Incorrect Files Displayed on USB Drive
I’m encountering an issue where the file changes I’m making on a USB disk seem to be cached by Windows 11, even after making modifications on Windows 10. Despite replacing files labeled “abc” with “xyz” on Windows 10, Windows 11 still displays the original “abc” files instead of the updates. This dilemma arises despite using the 22H2 version of Windows 11. Attempting to copy one of the old files generates an error, understandably, as the file is no longer present. I’ve observed that Windows 11 continues to list outdated files that have been replaced. Interestingly, when I attempt to eject the disk in Windows 11, it refreshes and displays the correct files (even if the ejection process fails). Is there a specific setting or adjustment I can make to prevent this issue and improve the file synchronization between Windows 10 and 11?

“Ensuring Computer Stays Active for 7 Hours to Record Data”
I have an ESP32 microcontroller connected to my Windows 11 Home laptop via USB. It is logging sleep data for about 7 hours using Tera Term on the laptop. Last night, on my laptop, I configured the power settings by going to Settings > Power and Battery > Screen and Sleep. I set the options as follows:
– Screen turns off after: 5 minutes when plugged in
– Device goes to sleep after: Never when plugged in
However, I discovered in the morning that my laptop had gone to sleep after 3 hours. I had to press the power button to wake it up, and I found that Tera Term had stopped collecting data after exactly 3 hours and 22 seconds. I’m unsure if there is an error on my part in setting up Windows 11 to keep the laptop awake throughout the night while still plugged in, allowing Tera Term to continuously log data, or if this issue is a Windows 11 OS glitch. Any tips or guidance on this matter would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your assistance.

Windows login locked out after BIOS update due to TPM issue
Hello everyone,
I recently updated my BIOS on Windows 11 and encountered some issues. After the update, I am unable to sign into my account. The PIN is not being recognized, and even my account/email password is being shown as incorrect.
During the BIOS update, I was prompted about clearing TPM and opted for yes, although I do not have BitLocker enabled.
I am quite stuck on how to regain access to my account, as attempting to reset the PIN on the login page results in a failure message prompting me to retry.
I attempted a registry edit to enable passwordless login, but unfortunately, I was still unable to access my desktop.
System Specs:
– CPU: AMD 5900X
– Motherboard: ROG Strix X570-E Gaming
– OS: Windows 11 Pro

Folder for Windows Input Experience
When I powered up my computer this morning, I noticed a new file in the Downloads folder. The creation timestamp matched the time I woke the PC.
Exciting update: I’ve identified the file! I’m quite surprised that I had never encountered it before. (It pertains to emoji gifs)

How to create a list of units to show only those moving in the next 90 days?
I have a huge Excel list (I called Master Tracker; see screenshot) of units scheduled to move on a given date. I am using Excel 365. The list will capture one year ago from today and one year in the future from today. My master tracker is updated constantly as we add more units every month.
Monthly, I create a roll-up report for my boss which I call the “Baseball Card”. I use a PowerPoint slide (see screenshot attached) to show only the units scheduled to move within the next 90 days but, I have been doing this manually and using the Master Tracker as my reference. The yellow portion in column B in the Master Tracker shows already the units that are within the 90-day window from “today” (5AUG24).
Tired of doing manual calculations, I took the Excel Master Tracker and created a second tab called Baseball Card (see screenshot attached). The purpose of this tab is to substitute the PowerPoint presentation (Baseball card) done manually to reproduce all my data by using Excel formulas as much as possible.
I am doing well so far but the challenge I have now is to come up with a way to display a list (rows will vary depending on how many units) of “Forces projected next 90 days”. This list must display only the units (By MSC, by unit, and by country) within the next 90 days from today. I thought a Pivot table would do the trick, but I already tried and couldn’t figure it out. I really would appreciate any help on this.

SharePoint Document Library Request Sign-Off comments not displaying
I am attempting to use the native SharePoint feature in a document library… Select the file, and then select Automate and select Request Sign-Off.
The process works fine accept for the following.
When the user receives the message, they select the accept option and fills in the comment box.
The document is posted to SP as approved but the comments are not displayed.
When selecting the document and then looking at the information section on the right side of the screen, under “Activity”, SharePoint displays “this item has no comments”.
How do I view the comments provided by the user who approved the document?
Thanks.

Troubleshooting Screenshots Issues: A Guide to Resolving Problems
When capturing a screenshot on my new Windows 11 computer, I press the Windows key along with the Print Screen button. The screenshot is then saved in a folder named “Screenshots” within the files. However, I am encountering an issue where the screenshot appears as computer code when I try to open it. This problem is new to me, as I have not faced any difficulties with taking screenshots using the described method before. I seek assistance in resolving this issue.

Recent File List Missing from Jump List After 11/15 Updates
I rely heavily on the “recent files” feature on my jump lists to attach files to my Gmail emails. However, following the installation of Windows updates on 11/15, this option seems to have vanished from my system.
Despite ensuring that the “show recent files” settings are correctly configured in both my personalization and system settings, no solution from available tutorials or online research has resolved this issue.
The recent files were consistently displayed until recently, making me suspect that the problem may have been triggered by the Windows updates installed on 11/15.

Can you suggest a no-cost Windows 11 PE tool for fixing the MBR?
The free version of AOMEI does not support creating a bootable USB drive, and it seems that Gandalf’s tool requires a $20 donation. Do you know of any free software that can be used to create a bootable USB drive?

Troubleshooting Black Screen Issue When Loading MSI Katana GF66 with Windows 11 Pro v. 23H2
I am experiencing difficulties booting into my MSI Katana GF66 laptop, running Windows 11 Pro version 23H2. Initially, an Explorer window refused to appear on the screen while minimized, leading me to open Task Manager. Unfortunately, Task Manager became unresponsive, forcing me to close and reopen it. Despite attempting to restart Explorer from Task Manager, the issue persisted. Following a forced shutdown using the power button, I am now completely unable to boot into Windows.
Initially, the boot process was excessively slow, eventually leading to the login screen. However, after entering my password, the screen turned black without Windows loading. Despite numerous attempts using the “F” keys, I struggled to access the advanced startup options.
It is crucial for me to avoid resetting Windows at all costs due to various reasons. As an experienced corporate IT help desk professional with 25 years of expertise, I am capable of performing this task on my own. Hence, I am in search of alternative methods to repair what appears to be a corrupted boot partition.
The actions I have taken thus far include accessing Windows Advanced Startup Repair Options, which unfortunately informed me that it could not repair the issue. I also launched the command prompt from the Advanced Startup Repair and ran SFC /SCANNOW, which detected and purportedly repaired issues. However, DISM did not recognize the necessary options or switches for cleanup image or restorehealth.
Despite my efforts, I was unable to access Safe Mode, encountering errors during the process. Following online research, I found suggestions to run commands such as BOOTREC/FIXMBR, BOOTREC/FIXBOOT, BOOTSECT /NT60 SYS, and BOOTREC /REBUILDBCD to address potential boot-related problems.
Currently, I am seeking classic diagnostic software that can be booted from a USB flash drive, akin to the older “Hirens” utility. I possess a secondary laptop, a 12-year-old HP DV7 Entertainment running Windows 10 Pro, which I have had fewer issues with compared to the newer MSI Katana.
I am in urgent need of assistance with resolving this issue and would greatly appreciate prompt support. Thank you for your help.

Read Aloud on Mac vs. Read Aloud on iPad
This should be simple, but it’s proving not to be.
I recently discovered that the Read Aloud voice on my iPad is worlds better than the Read Aloud voices available on my Mac.
I’ve downloaded the two “Premium” voices on the Mac, Ava and Zoe, and neither come close to the “female” voice on the iPad, which does a truly remarkable job of reading text out loud.
Does anyone know how to access that same female voice that’s on the iPad on the Mac?

ADF Lookup Stored Procedure Error
I have a stored procedure that has the following format:
If (@x = 1)
BEGIN
RETURN SCOPE_IDENTITY()
END
ELSE
BEGIN
RETURN COLUMN1
END
I’m using a Lookup in ADF and it gives me an error: The specified Stored Procedure is not valid. It could be caused by that the stored procedure doesn’t return any data.
How can I get the value from this stored procedure in ADF and save it to a variable without changing the stored procedure to say SELECT ID = @Scope_Identity() and keeping the RETURN xxxxx?
