Hello, I am in the process of trying to get the GPS Acquisition and Tracking Using AMD RFSoC Device example design for the ZCU111 up and running and have found that the documentation is extremly incomplete and or misleading in alot of instances.
https://www.mathworks.com/help/soc/ug/gps-acquisition-using-rfsoc-device.html
Firstly, I have gone through the entire build/compile process and finally was able to build the FPGA bitstream -> Load it on the SD card -> Run the program
I can see that UDP packets are sending consistantly on my router and see that the DAC is transmitting (with a spectrum analyzer) at 862MHz, 2.275GHz, and 3.989GHz. This is confusing, because I would expect GPS L1 to be transmitted at 1.575GHz.
Running the UDP host simulink model, and with the loopback from J4 and J5, I am unable to see anything so I am trying to debug a bit futher with a pre-built bitstream.
ISSUE1:
Per the example design I can find the bitstream here:
Copy the pre-generated bitstream to your project folder by entering this command at the MATLAB command prompt.
copyfile(fullfile(matlabroot, …
‘toolbox’,’soc’,’supportpackages’,’whdlsocexamples’, …
‘bitstreams’,’soc_GPS_top-XilinxZynqUltraScale_RFSoCZCU111EvaluationKit.bit’),’./soc_prj’);
>This file is missing, so I cannot test with a known good bitstream.
ISSUE2:
Click Load and Run to load the pre-generated bitstream and run the model on the SoC board. After the bit file is loaded, open the generated software model.
Run the model in external mode by clicking Monitor & Tune. You can control the configuration from the Simulink model.
>In order to get to the Monitor and Tune window, I have to chage my hardware settings set processing unit to APU and change Target hardware resources to external mode TCPIP. I am also unsure if this is supposed to be for the soc_GPS_top.slx model (I am assuming yes). This now brings up the monitor and Tune option, but this causes an error.
ISSUE3:
If I run runGPSAcquisitionAndTrackingHardware.m it kills the application that was already running on the ZCU111 board (I see the DAC transmit stop and the UDP stop)
I do, however, see an output from matlab, that is rather lengthy – so I will not paste it.Hello, I am in the process of trying to get the GPS Acquisition and Tracking Using AMD RFSoC Device example design for the ZCU111 up and running and have found that the documentation is extremly incomplete and or misleading in alot of instances.
