Formule faire la somme selon deux conditions
Bonjour,
Merci!

Welcome to the New Era of Microsoft OneDrive: AI, Productivity, and Memories at Your Fingertips
OneDrive is your gateway to seamlessly managing files, photos, and memories across work, home, and everywhere in between. Trusted by 94% of Fortune 500 companies millions of small businesses, and countless individuals, OneDrive is transforming how the world collaborates, stores, and connects.
At today’s OneDrive , we unveiled a powerful lineup of new features designed to help you work smarter, stay organized, and relive life’s best moments – all through the magic of AI. Whether you’re an IT Pro managing enterprise-grade compliance or a parent organizing family memories, OneDrive has you covered.
Let’s take a closer look at what’s new.
Copilot Agents: your custom AI assistant
One of the most exciting innovations shared today is that Copilot Agents are coming to OneDrive! Think of Copilot Agents as a custom-built AI assistant, designed by you and tailored to meet your specific needs. Here’s how they work:
Create Your Own AI Assistant
With Copilot Agents, you can gather relevant files, documents, and data into a powerful, shareable assistant that knows everything about your project. They’re simple to create. You can even customize it with a unique name and icon, making it instantly recognizable across your workspace.
Automate and Simplify Repetitive Tasks
Imagine you’re organizing a conference, and you need to repeatedly provide the same information to various stakeholders. With a Copilot Agent, you can automate this process by directing it to respond to common requests, like “show me the event agenda” or “summarize the latest budget figures.” This custom assistant works for you around the clock, simplifying your workload and ensuring your team has the information they need at their fingertips.
Shareable and Scalable
Once you’ve created your Copilot Agent, you can share it with your entire team. It works across platforms—whether in Microsoft Teams, OneDrive, or SharePoint—and can instantly become a valuable resource for everyone involved. This ability to scale the impact of your work will fundamentally change how you manage projects and team collaboration.
Collaboration at a New Level
The true power of Copilot Agents lies in their flexibility. Just like any other file, you can copy, share, and organize them with ease. Need to onboard a new team member? Instead of sending them multiple links, emails, and files, you can simply share your Copilot Agent in a Teams chat. With one click, your teammate can start interacting with the agent, asking questions, and getting real-time answers. This transforms how teams collaborate, making knowledge transfer seamless and more efficient.
Copilot Agents will be a game-changer for how you work, helping you focus on what matters most while your custom AI takes care of the repetitive, time-consuming tasks.
But the news doesn’t stop there, let’s get into more exciting OneDrive innovations.
Your OneDrive at work: faster, smarter, and the best way to collaborate
OneDrive is your unified files app across the entire Microsoft 365 ecosystem—integrated seamlessly with Office, Teams, SharePoint, and Windows. And today, we showed off even more capabilities to help you work smarter, faster, and more collaboratively than ever before.
Lightning-fast performance, online and offline: We’ve supercharged OneDrive’s web experience. You can now view, edit, and organize your files with speed—even when you’re offline. From browsing large libraries to filtering documents, everything is faster, smoother, and more responsive.
Smarter search experience to easily find what matters: Our improved search experience is a game-changer. With new filter controls and more detailed results, find the exact file or folder faster and easier—whether it’s stored in your OneDrive, a shared library, or a folder from a teammate. This update is rolling out now and will be available to commercial customers by the end of 2024.
Bring vivid customization to your workflow with Colored Folders: In a world of endless digital content, a little color goes a long way. OneDrive is now extending support for colored folders to Windows File Explorer, allowing you to personalize and organize your files with vibrant hues. Available starting today, this feature is all about helping you stay organized with a touch of creativity.
Updated Document Libraries: Coming mid-next year, we’ll be making significant improvements to the document library experience. Bringing OneDrive’s flexibility and speed directly into your most-used collaborative spaces. We’re improving the overall performance and reliability, making it easier and faster to navigate, switch to and create custom views, and filter large data sets.
Revamped sharing: Collaboration is at the heart of productivity, and we’ve made it easier than ever to share files. You’ll now see who’s working on a document in real time, and you can apply expiration dates to sharing links for extra control and security.
Intelligence with Copilot
Today marks a new milestone with the arrival of Copilot in OneDrive, available now for all commercial customers. Copilot transforms the way you interact with your files, offering AI-powered capabilities that boost productivity like never before.
Copilot Actions available now:
Summarize files quickly: Faster extraction of key information in OneDrive is a productivity booster. With Copilot in OneDrive, you can summarize one or multiple files in your OneDrive web app without opening each file. You can also generate an FAQ from a document to use or share as a resource. For example, summarize new documents that have been shared with you or easily summarize notes right before a meeting all with one-click!
Effortless File Comparison: Locating the right data or understanding the differences between multiple files is time-consuming. Now, with Copilot you can select up to five files―even mixing formats such as Word docs, PowerPoints, and PDFs―and quickly see the differences across all the files, helping you make decisions faster.
Get answers on specific files: Have a question about a document, or need to get quick insights before a meeting? Ask Copilot a question on any document without having to open a single file. Get the information you need from the documents you choose, gaining valuable insights in seconds.
More to come in 2025
Soon, you will be able to get meeting recaps directly from OneDrive to generate detailed highlights, key points, and even organizing them into actionable insights. Also, you will soon have the ability to convert files into presentations-turning Word documents into detailed PowerPoint presentations!
There’s a lot more we are working on for Copilot in OneDrive coming in 2025. Stay tuned for more updates and news in the coming months!
Secure and easy to manage
At the heart of OneDrive’s evolution is our commitment to making it secure and easy to manage, particularly for IT professionals who rely on it to safeguard their organization’s data.
Site Policy Comparison Report : Managing thousands of files and ensuring they meet compliance standards is no small feat. That’s why we’re introducing the AI-driven site policy comparison report. With a few clicks, you can identify similar sites and which policies they are missing, to ensure your organization remains compliant. Will be in public preview end of 2024
Microsoft Graph Data Connect (MGDC): We’ve improved our OneDrive Sync Health Reports by integrating them with MGDC, allowing admins to export data into Power BI or Excel for customized reports. Whether you’re monitoring backup errors or inactive sites, OneDrive gives you the tools you need to stay in control. Now available in public preview.
Restricted Content Discoverability: Security is key when deploying AI tools. With our new Restricted Content Discoverability (RCD), files in libraries that have this policy configured will not appear in Copilot-generated results, ensuring the right level of access and control. Will be in public preview end of 2024.
File-Level M365 Archive on SharePoint: Soon, you’ll be able to archive individual files within your SharePoint Document Libraries that haven’t been accessed in years, making it easier to declutter and manage storage. Archiving doesn’t mean goodbye—archived files remain searchable and can be reactivated at any time. This feature will be in private preview early 2025.
While work is ever so important to your day-day, living in the moments, at home with family, friends, and loved ones is just as important. We are excited to announce a few updates to your personal OneDrive experience!

With Microsoft Designer directly integrated into OneDrive, you’ll be able to edit your photos effortlessly—whether it’s removing a distraction, changing the background, or adding text. We will be bringing these capabilities across OneDrive platforms, allowing you to make changes easily, wherever you are.
Personalized views -Organizing your digital life can be overwhelming, but OneDrive’s AI is here to help. OneDrive will create personalized views for you, automatically grouping your files and photos based on —whether it’s family moments, work documents, or your favorite hobbies. [Visual Scripting] How to add component type to the variable?
I saw in the Mesh Toolkit projects (for example PhysicsEffectsGallery or ScienceBuilding) that you applied script type to the Object Variable. I cannot do it by myself. The search doesn’t give me anything. How can I do it? It is very useful because when I use a generic type like GameObject, I make frequent mistakes and drop the wrong object.

Join the Windows Insider Program: The Windows Insider Program allows users to evaluate and use preview versions of Windows’ features. It also enables users to assess and advise on these versions, giving them a glimpse of what’s to come and allowing them to have a say in their development.
User Groups: Many (Microsoft’s Most Valuable Professionals (MVPs) and IT professionals hold regular meetups on social media platforms like LinkedIn and Eventbrite. Sometimes, a Microsoft Staff member may follow or speak at the session and capture the end user’s feedback.
Microsoft Learn: A Microsoft-managed website that provides resources for products and features. The content is created and updated by various contributors, and readers can vote up or down and give feedback to ensure the content is correct and current. You, too, will find ‘learning paths’ for various product to learn more at your pace in a structured fashion.
MVPs attend Product Group Interactions (PGI) events or Other Microsoft 365 events: Microsoft’s Most Valuable Professionals (MVPs) often have the privilege of attending non-disclosure (NDA) PGIs where Microsoft shares what’s in the pipeline and solicit feedback from this prestigious global community of three thousand plus.
The big question: Does Microsoft review customer feedback?
Of course, they do. Upon submitting your feedback, each Microsoft product team meticulously analyzes, categorizes, and prioritizes the suggestions based on user demand and potential impact on the overall user experience. For these reasons, a team member may enact with you to gather more information.
And I can personally attest: Before becoming an MVP, a product manager contacted me for more clarity and in-depth details about a bug discovery and feedback that I gave. He also asked my opinion regarding a potential feature upgrade they were considering. I learned that it is a two-way engagement and do need our help and guidance.
Examples of Feedback in Action
Here are examples illustrating how Microsoft has utilized user feedback to enhance its applications:
Improved collaboration tools: Following users’ complaints about poor app performance in Microsoft Teams, the product group worked hard to rebuild and deliver “New Teams” – a faster, simpler, and more flexible collaborative application.
Accessibility features: Microsoft’s products have become more inclusive and accessible to people with disabilities thanks to user engagement and feedback. Various features like screen reader compatibility and keyboard shortcuts have been added to these products based on voicing your needs.
Improved results: Microsoft 365 Copilot, a product designed to reduce work efforts, is in the “refining” stage. Users’ engagement will help the product development teams with real-life scenarios for better prompting, navigation, and data accuracy.
Tips for providing effective feedback.
To make sure your feedback is clear and helpful, avoid vague comments that could cause misunderstanding of your expectations. Use these suggestions to make your message effective and actionable:
Be Specific: Clearly articulate the issue or feature you’re addressing, providing specific details, and mentioning the operating system (PC or Mac), and version you’re using.
Provide Context: Explain how the issue or feature affects you, your team, and department’s workflow or productivity.
Offer Suggestions: Instead of merely identifying problems, propose potential solutions or improvements, enriching the feedback process.
Be Respectful: Recognize the dedication of the developers behind the products and offer constructive feedback, fostering a collaborative environment conducive to meaningful improvement.
Be visual: Microsoft engineers work best with visual clarity when you can provide it – in the form of screenshots, repo steps, and short videos.
Here is a sample guide you can use:
Application & Feature: [Teams – Green Screen]
License: [Free Version, Personal/Family Plans, Business, or Enterprise plans]
Operating System: [PC, Mac]
Version: Here are the instructions for finding the app version.
For Office Desktop Apps, you can select File | Account | About App.
For the web applications, you select the File tab and choose About.
Current Behavior: [State current bug or inefficiency. Include screenshots when possible.]
Impact: [Minimum Users, Department, Organization, Compliance Requirements]
Suggestions/Improvements/Benefits: [Provide expectations, suggestions, and benefits. Include screenshots when possible.]
And now, my feedback to you, fellow Microsoft 365 user.
Don’t think your feedback goes unheard, even if you don’t get a response from Microsoft. Keep in mind, Microsoft has an estimate of 300 million users. Microsoft reviews and values your suggestions. Like any other company, they track and report bugs, resolutions, and feedback metrics to the leadership teams. They have OKRs like the rest of us, and the more data they can chew on, report out, and make informed decisions on, the better.
The next time you encounter a feature that could be better or have an idea to enhance your workflow, don’t hesitate to speak up. Your voice matters, and Microsoft is listening. Together, we can (and will) make Microsoft 365 (continuously) better for the next generation.
You influence change. Be a change maker!
Thanks for reading. And let me know what you think in the comments below.

Power Pages – Move to Azure App Service?
Hi all,
A NonProfit we’re helping are developing their website in Power Pages and “want to host it in Azure App Service”, I assume to make better use of grants.
I see there are a couple of features in Preview that support some degree of code customization:
But from what I’ve seen, it’s not possible to export a Power Page to any codebase with full integrated functionality from the Power Pages portal but rather disconnected code snippets.
Do we have a Power Pages expert here who might confirm or deny my suspicions and whether this request is feasible at all? Thank you all for reading.

Filtering messages based on reason code
Hi All,
I have a scenario where close to 2 million Messages have to be read from MQ into ADLS via Logic Apps.
I have used MQ Connector to read the messages and upload to blob, but this seems to be very slow inspite of scaling up the Logic APPS.
I have tried to have parallel thread to handle this in the workflow but there seems to some issue with the parallel thread.
is there a way to filter out the messages based on reason code so that i can read only if the messages exists.

Multitenant SaaS, Enterprise Application and SCIM
Hi there,
We are developing a multitenant SaaS application. The developers have produced a SCIM endpoint and we are now deploying it in our evaluation environment.
The application is installed and an App Registration has been created in TenantA. We have then created the Enterprise Application in Tenants B&C using the powershell command New-AzureADServicePrincipal – but the option for SCIM is not available within the Enterprise Applications blade in each tenant.
If I create an application in Enterprise Applications manually in tenants B&C, SCIM option is available, but the Enterprise Application is not tied to the App Registration in Tenant A.
We are not in a position to add our application to the gallery yet (although it looks like submissions are closed to this as well).
How do we get our application consumed in Tenants B&C, including allowing the creation of the SCIM configuration??
many thanks,
Ian

Deleted several 1000 emails storage has not gone down!
So Microsoft told me I have too many saved emails and ned more storage. I have since deleted several thousand. I have deleted the ‘Deleted’ box. I have deleted the emails in the ‘Recovery’ box. I have refreshed Hotmail and restarted my laptop several times. I have also linked to Outlook as I saw suggested. However, my email total has only dropped by c 40 emails! I see a lot of others have the same problem and I have done everything I can find suggested. I feel like I am being scammed to buy more storage – what should I do?

What’s new and improved with Microsoft Graph connectors
We are thrilled to announce new Microsoft Graph connector features and enhancements to support Microsoft 365 Copilot extensibility. Microsoft Graph connectors allow you to bring external content into Microsoft Graph, making it accessible alongside your Microsoft 365 data (e.g., Word documents, SharePoint content, PowerPoint decks, Teams chats, and more) across various Microsoft 365 experiences, including Microsoft 365 Copilot.
The updates detailed below are meant to provide users with more flexibility, control, and efficiency in managing their data. Imagine having more of your valuable enterprise systems accessible at your fingertips—this is the power of Microsoft Graph connectors in enhancing knowledge available to Microsoft 365 Copilot and your Copilot agents.
Customize Microsoft 365 Copilot with Copilot agents
Agents are AI assistants designed to automate and execute business processes, working with or for humans. They range in capability from simple, prompt-and-response agents; to agents that replace repetitive tasks; to more advanced, fully autonomous agents. With Copilot agents, you can do this by bringing the power of agents right into the flow of your work.
Use Microsoft Graph connectors to index external data into Microsoft Graph to ground Microsoft 365 Copilot and Copilot agents in specific, relevant knowledge. Read more about our recent Microsoft 365 Copilot Wave 2 announcement.
New Microsoft Graph connectors
We heard your feedback and are excited to offer brand new Graph connectors for Confluence on-premises and SharePoint Server. You can now index Confluence pages, blogs, and wikis and SharePoint documents and webpages from your data center or server instance. These additions provide businesses with more options to connect existing data sources to Microsoft 365, enhancing overall productivity and collaboration. Learn more in our documentation.
We’re also excited to announce the availability of Graph connectors to more data sources, in preview. To sign up for the preview of these new Graph connectors and other new features, please complete this Form. If a Graph connector for your preferred data sources is not yet available, please share your feedback and request development through this Form.
Quick setup experience for Graph connectors
We’re announcing the release of a new quick setup experience for some Microsoft Graph connectors that reduces setup time from hours to minutes. This new experience is available for ServiceNow Knowledge, Confluence Cloud, Confluence On-premises, and Jira Cloud. Learn more in our documentation.
Graph connectors SDK support for improved indexing in Microsoft 365 Copilot
We made improvements to the Graph connectors SDK to allow you to make the most of Microsoft 365 Copilot capabilities for improved indexing when building custom Graph connectors. With this update, if a connection has the “Title” and “Url” as labels and any schema property in the connection is marked as “IsContent”, the item content will be vectorized in the index.
Please note: the indexed item content will not be vectorized in case your item content does not have chunks of text in the body to vectorize or if the item only consists of sparse metadata fields. Learn more in our documentation.
Salesforce Data Source Filter
We’re introducing a new feature for the Microsoft Graph connector for Salesforce by the end of September 2024. Businesses will be able to exclude items that do not need to be indexed, providing greater control over data that is integrated into their Microsoft 365 tenant. This feature helps ensure that only relevant information is included, reducing clutter and improving overall efficiency. Learn more in our documentation.
Licensing Update
We recently shared an announcement that Microsoft 365 and Office 365 subscriptions now receive a 50 million item index per tenant at no extra cost for data ingested via Microsoft Graph connectors. This update ensures that businesses can ingest more data to be used across Microsoft 365 experiences, without worrying about additional costs. Learn more from our recent blog post.
Scenario Improvements in Microsoft 365 Copilot
We have made several improvements to enhance the capabilities with Graph connectors in Microsoft 365 Copilot:
Admins can now enhance Graph connector intent detection by adding a rich Connector description. Learn more in our documentation.
Users can now use natural language prompts with the intent to filter data based on common properties (semantic labels) in Graph connectors.
Example: Users can look for ServiceNow tickets with “Show me the ticket created by John yesterday about webpage not working”.
Users can now leverage the connection name in Copilot prompts to improve intent detection.
Example: In an organization with a repository called “InsightVault”, users can find information by using the following prompt in Copilot: “Show me past research on customer behaviour from InsightVault”
Entra Auth Support for CSV (SharePoint) & Azure DevOps (ADO) Connectors
We are migrating the OAuth Server for the ADO WorkItem Connector, ADO Wiki Connector, and CSV (SharePoint) connector to use Microsoft Entra OAuth. While this migration requires no action on your part, we recommend upgrading the OAuth provider to Microsoft Entra.
Currently, Azure DevOps uses OAuth2 authorization code and ADO App registration, while CSV (SharePoint) uses OAuth2 Client Credentials and SharePoint App registration. Learn more in our documentation for ADO WorkItem connector, ADO Wiki connector, and CSV connector.
Enhancing observability and simplifying troubleshooting with ‘Index browser’
Admins can now validate whether content has been indexed and review its associated properties and permissions, including users access to specific content with ‘Index browser’. This feature can be accessed by clicking on individual connection in Search & Intelligence portal within the Microsoft 365 Admin center. This can be used while testing, validating and troubleshooting search issues.
If users report difficulties accessing items, this tool helps ensure that content is indexed correctly and includes the relevant data. Learn more in our documentation for Index browser.
Availability across Microsoft 365 experiences
Content from Graph connectors is now available in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint. This integration ensures that users can access and manage their data across more Microsoft 365 applications.
Get started today
We are excited for you to continue using Microsoft Graph connectors as a valuable part of your AI strategy and the next wave of Copilot innovation. You can experience many of these new capabilities today through the documentation links above, and preview others in the coming weeks.
We remain committed to providing you with the tools and technologies that drive success. Stay tuned for more updates and advancements in the coming months. Thank you for being a valued part of our community!

What’s new in Microsoft Entra – September 2024
We’re excited to announce the general availability of Microsoft Entra Suite—one of the industry’s most comprehensive secure access solutions for the workforce. With 66% of digital attack paths involving insecure credentials1, Microsoft Entra Suite helps prevent security breaches by enabling secure access to cloud and on-premises apps with least privilege, inside and outside the corporate perimeter. It unifies network access, identity protection, governance, and verification to streamline onboarding, modernize remote access, and ensure secure access to apps and resources. Get started with a Microsoft Entra Suite trial.
Last November, we launched the Secure Future Initiative (SFI) at Microsoft to combat the increasing scale of cyberattacks. Security now drives every decision we make, as detailed in the September 2024 SFI Progress Report. Today, we’re sharing new security improvements and innovations across Microsoft Entra from July to September 2024, organized by product to help you quickly find what’s relevant to your deployment.

Upcoming MFA enforcement on Microsoft Entra admin center
[Action may be required]
As part of our commitment to providing our customers with the highest level of security, we previously announced that Microsoft will require multifactor authentication (MFA) for users signing into Azure. We’d like to share an update that the scope of MFA enforcement includes Microsoft Entra admin center in addition to the Azure portal and Intune admin center. This change will be rolled out in phases, allowing organizations time to plan their implementation:
Phase 1: Starting on or after October 15, 2024, MFA will be required to sign into the Entra admin center, Azure portal, and Intune admin center. The enforcement will gradually roll out to all tenants worldwide. This phase will not impact other Azure clients such as the Azure Command Line Interface, Azure PowerShell, Azure mobile app, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools.
Phase 2: Beginning in early 2025, gradual enforcement of MFA at sign-in for the Azure CLI, Azure PowerShell, Azure mobile app, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools will commence.
Microsoft will send a 60-day advance notice to all Entra global admins by email and through Azure Service Health Notifications to notify them of the start date of enforcement and required actions. Additional notifications will be sent through the Azure portal, Entra admin center, and the M365 message center.
We understand that some customers may need additional time to prepare for this MFA requirement. Therefore, Microsoft will allow extended time for customers with complex environments or technical barriers. The notification from us will also include details about how customers can postpone the start date of enforcement for their tenants, the duration of the postponement, and a link to apply. To learn more, read the blog, “MFA enforcement for Microsoft Entra admin center sign-in coming soon.”
Date change announcement: Deprecation of keychain-backed device identity for Apple devices
[Action may be required]
Earlier this year, we announced the upcoming deprecation of keychain-backed device identity for Apple devices on the Microsoft Entra ID platform. The previously announced deprecation date of June 2026 has been accelerated to June 2025 as part of our commitment to secure design and defaults. This change is being made to enhance device security and better protect your data.
Once in effect, this deprecation will ensure that newly registered Apple devices managed by Microsoft Entra ID use strong, hardware-bound cryptographic secrets, backed by Apple’s Secure Enclave. To learn more, we encourage you to review our updated documentation on this deprecation. We advise both consumers and vendors of applications to test their software for compatibility with this new datastore.
Upgrade to the latest version of Microsoft Entra Connect by April 2, 2025
[Action may be required]
In early October 2024, we will release a new version of Microsoft Entra Connect Sync that contains a back-end service change that further hardens our services. To avoid service disruptions, customers are required to upgrade to that version (2.4.XX.0) by early April 2025 (exact deadline to be announced upon version release).
Review our roadmap for a timeline of upcoming releases, so that you can plan your upgrade accordingly. We will auto-upgrade customers where supported, alongside an early 2025 release of Connect Sync. For customers who wish to be auto-upgraded, ensure that you have auto-upgrade configured.
For a list of minimum requirements and expected impacts of the service change, please refer to this article. For upgrade-related guidance, check out our docs.
New Certificate Authorities (CAs) for login.microsoftonline.com: Action required from customers who only trust DigiCert certificates
[Action may be required]
Microsoft Entra ID is introducing new Certificate Authorities (CAs) for server certificates for the domain login.microsoftonline.com. Currently, connections to login.microsoftonline.com are exclusively presented with DigiCert certificates. Starting on October 1, 2024, you may also encounter certificates issued by Microsoft Azure CAs. This update is designed to enhance security and improve the resilience of Entra ID. This could impact customers who do not trust Microsoft Azure CAs or have pinned client-side to DigiCert certificates, as they may experience authentication failures.
Recommended Action:
To prevent potential issues, we recommend trusting all Root and Subordinate CAs listed in the Azure Certificate public documentation. This documentation has included Microsoft Azure CAs for over a year. If you are an Entra ID user who uses the login.microsoftonline.com domain, it’s crucial to remove any client-side pinning to DigiCert and trust the new Azure CAs for a seamless transition. For more details on how to ensure uninterrupted and secure service, please read the Client Compatibility for public PKIs documentation.
Microsoft Copilot update to enterprise data protection
[No action is required]
Last month, we made several updates to the free Microsoft Copilot service for users with a Microsoft Entra account to enhance data security, privacy, and compliance and simplify the user experience. For users signed in with an Entra account, Microsoft Copilot will offer enterprise data protection (EDP) and redirect users to a new simplified, ad-free user interface designed for work and education.
With EDP in Microsoft Copilot, your data is private, it isn’t used to train foundation models, and we help protect it at rest and in transit with encryption. For more details on EDP, please review our documentation.
If you or your users have a Microsoft 365 subscription in addition to an Entra account, you can enable in-app access by pinning Microsoft Copilot. If you elect to pin Microsoft Copilot for your users, it will appear in the Microsoft 365 app starting mid-September, and it will be coming soon to Microsoft Teams and Outlook. Additional functionality in Microsoft Copilot like chat history is also available for users with a Microsoft 365 subscription.
For additional information about these changes, whether you or your users have a Microsoft 365 subscription or not, please visit our blog and FAQ.
We hope you are as excited as we are about these updates to Microsoft Copilot. If you would like to try Microsoft Copilot updated with enterprise data protection prior to mid-September, a private preview is available (space limited). To apply, please fill out our form.
Enable Browser Access (EBA) by default for all Android users
[No action is required]
As part of ongoing security hardening, we are deprecating the Enable Browser Access (EBA) user interface in the Android Authenticator and Company Portal apps. Consequently, browser access will be enabled by default for all Android users. This change will occur automatically, so no action is required from admins or Android users.
Restricted permissions on Directory Synchronization Accounts (DSA) role in Microsoft Entra Connect Sync and Cloud Sync
[No action is required]
As part of ongoing security hardening, we’ve removed unused permissions from the privileged “Directory Synchronization Accounts” role. This role is exclusively used by Connect Sync and Cloud Sync to synchronize Active Directory objects with Entra ID. There is no action required by customers to benefit from this hardening. Please refer to the documentation for details on the revised role permissions.
Upcoming improvements to the SSO enrollment dialog
[No action is required]
We’re making some improvements to the end user experience when users add their account to a Windows device. We’ve refined the messaging in the SSO enrollment dialog (consent) to make it easier for end users to understand the choice(s) they can make and the impact of their choice(s). The changes also include a ‘Learn more’ link on the screen. The link points to a Microsoft Learn article that provides users with more information that will further enable them to make informed choice(s). The new SSO enrollment dialog will be gradually introduced starting in October 2024. Please check here for more details.

Important Update: Azure AD Graph Retirement
[Action may be required]
The retirement of the Azure AD Graph API service began on 1 September 2024, and will eventually impact both new and existing applications. As we deploy the phase starting over the coming weeks, new applications will not be able to use Azure AD Graph APIs unless they are configured for extended access. Microsoft Graph is the replacement for Azure AD Graph APIs, and we strongly recommend immediately migrating use of Azure AD Graph APIs to Microsoft Graph and limiting any further development using Azure AD Graph APIs.
Timeline for incremental retirement of Azure AD Graph API service
Phase start date
Impact to existing apps
Impact to new apps
1 September 2024
None.
New apps are blocked from using Azure AD Graph APIs, unless the app is configured to allow extended Azure AD Graph access by setting blockAzureAdGraphAccess to false. Any new apps must use Microsoft Graph
1 February 2025
Application is unable make requests to Azure AD Graph APIs unless it is configured to allow extended Azure AD Graph access by setting blockAzureAdGraphAccess to false.
1 July 2025
Azure AD Graph is fully retired. No Azure AD Graph API requests will function.
Action required:
To avoid service disruptions, please follow our instructions to migrate applications to Microsoft Graph APIs.
If you need to extend Azure AD Graph access for an app to July 2025
If you have not fully completed app migrations to Microsoft Graph, you can extend this retirement. If you set the blockAzureADGraphAccess attribute to false in the application’s authenticationBehaviors configuration, the application will be able to use Azure AD Graph APIs through June 30, 2025. Further documentation can be found here.
New applications will receive a 403 error when attempting to access Azure AD Graph APIs unless this setting is set to false. For existing applications that will not complete migration to Microsoft Graph in 2024, you should plan to set this configuration now.
If you need to find Applications in your tenant using Azure AD Graph APIs
The Microsoft Entra recommendations feature provides recommendations to put your tenant in a secure and healthy state, while also helping you maximize the value of the features available in Entra ID.
We’ve provided two Entra recommendations that show information about applications and service principals that are actively using Azure AD Graph APIs in your tenant. These new recommendations can support your efforts to identify and migrate the impacted applications and service principals to Microsoft Graph.

Important Update: AzureAD PowerShell and MSOnline PowerShell retirement
[Action may be required]
As of March 30, 2024, the legacy Azure AD PowerShell, Azure AD PowerShell Preview, and MS Online modules are deprecated. These modules will continue to function through March 30, 2025, after which they will be retired and stop functioning. Microsoft Graph PowerShell SDK is the replacement for these modules and you should migrate your scripts to Microsoft Graph PowerShell SDK as soon as possible.
To help you identify usage of Azure AD PowerShell in your tenant, you can use the Entra Recommendation titled Migrate Service Principals from the retiring Azure AD Graph APIs to Microsoft Graph. This recommendation will show vendor applications that are using Azure AD Graph APIs in your tenant, including AzureAD PowerShell.
We are making substantial new and future investments in the PowerShell experience for managing Entra, with the recent Public Preview launch of the Microsoft Entra PowerShell module. This new module builds upon the Microsoft Graph PowerShell SDK and brings scenario-focused cmdlets. It’s fully interoperable with all cmdlets in the Microsoft Graph PowerShell SDK, enabling you to perform complex operations with simple, well documented commands. The module also offers a backward compatibility option to simplify migration from the deprecated AzureAD Module.
Microsoft Graph APIs were recently made available to read and configure Per-user MFA settings for users, and availability in Microsoft Graph PowerShell SDK cmdlets is soon to follow.
License assignment modifications will no longer be supported in the Microsoft Entra Admin Center
[Action may be required]
This is a courtesy reminder that, in mid-September, we rolled out a change that no longer supports the modification of user and group license assignments in the Microsoft Entra Admin Center and the Microsoft Azure Admin Portal. Moving forward, you will have read-only access to license assignments in these portals. If you wish to modify user and group license assignments via the user interface, you will need to visit the Microsoft 365 Admin Center. Please note that this change does not impact the API or PowerShell modules. If you experience any issues with license assignment, please reach out to Microsoft 365 support. To learn more, click here.
Dynamic type versioning in Bicep templates for Microsoft Graph
[Action may be required]
In October 2024, we’re introducing an update to the Bicep templates for Microsoft Graph public preview. The dynamic types feature enables semantic versioning for Microsoft Graph Bicep types for both beta and v1.0. During Bicep file authoring, you specify a Microsoft Graph Bicep type version referenced from the Microsoft artifact registry, instead of using a built-in Nuget package which is the current experience. Using dynamic types will allow for future breaking changes in existing Microsoft Graph Bicep resource types without impacting deployment of your existing Bicep files that use older versions of those resource types.
Built-in types are deprecated and will be retired on January 24, 2025. Until the retirement date, built-in types will coexist with the new dynamic types. Any Microsoft Graph Bicep type changes will only be available through new versions of the dynamic types.
Action required:
Switch to the new dynamic types before 24th January 2025 to avoid Bicep template deployment failures. The switch will involve making some minor updates to your bicepconfig.json and main Bicep files. Additionally, to take advantage of any updated or new Microsoft Graph resource types, you will need to update the type version that your Bicep files use. For next steps, click here.
Retirement of legacy user authentication methods management experience in Entra Portal
[No action is required]
Starting October 31st, 2024, we will retire the ability to manage user authentication methods in the Entra Portal via the legacy user interface (UI). Instead, we will only surface the modern UI which has full parity with the legacy experience in addition to the ability to manage modern methods (e.g. Temporary Access Pass, Passkeys, QR+Pin, etc.) and settings. This will not impact how end users can manage their own authentication methods or their ability to sign-in to Entra. Learn more at Manage user authentication methods for Microsoft Entra multifactor authentication.
Deprecating Enable Browser Access (EBA) UI
[No action is required]
EBA is a feature in Android broker apps (such as Company Portal and Authenticator) that enables duplicating the Entra ID device registration certificate to a global keychain location on the Android device. This allows browsers that are not integrated with brokers, such as Chrome, to access the certificate for device authentication, which is required to comply with Entra device compliance policies.
As part of our overall security hardening efforts, we’re migrating Entra ID device registration certificates and Android device identities to be hardware-bound. This will enable token protection policies in the future and protect against bypassing device compliance policies. Since the device identity will be hardware-bound, the EBA UI will no longer be able to duplicate and export keys on demand. We plan to deprecate the Enable Browser Access (EBA) UI in the Authenticator and Company Portal apps, and browser access (e.g., Chrome) will automatically be enabled during device registration.
This capability already exists for Intune MDM users. The change extends it to non-Intune users, such as those using VMWare and Jamf mobile device management (MDM) software. This will apply to all customers in the first half of the 2025 calendar year. No action is required from customers at this time.
Deferred changes to My Groups admin controls
[No action is required]
In October 2023 we shared that starting June 2024 the existing Self Service Group Management setting in the Microsoft Entra Admin Center that states “restrict user ability to access groups features in My Groups” would be retired. These changes are under review and will not take place as originally planned. A new deprecation date will be announced in the future.
My Security Info Add Sign-In Method picker user interface update
[No action is required]
This is a courtesy reminder that, starting in August 2024, the “Add Sign-In Method” dialog on the My Security Info page was updated with improved sign-in method descriptions and a modern look and feel. With this change, when users click “Add Sign-In Method,” they will initially be recommended to register the strongest method available to them, as allowed by the organization’s authentication method policy. Users will also have the option to select “Show More Options” and choose from all available sign-in methods permitted by their policy. No admin action is required.
Provisioning UX modernization
[No action is required]
We’re modernizing the current application/HR provisioning and cross-tenant sync UX. This includes a new overview page, user experience to configure connectivity to your application, scoping, and attribute mappings experience. The new experience includes all functionality available to customers today, and no customer action required. The new experience will start rolling out at the end of October 2024, but customers can still use the existing experience through January 2024.
Enhancing user experience
Moving from a browse-based to a search-based solution for access package discovery
[Action may be required]
We’re excited to introduce a new feature in My Access: a curated list of recommended access packages. This will allow users to quickly view the most relevant access packages without scrolling through a long list. The final tab will be a complete, searchable list of all visible access packages in the tenant. We’ll deploy this to all customers as an opt-in preview by the end of October, with in-product messaging to highlight the change. By the end of November, it will transition to an opt-out preview, with general availability planned for December.

PPTP and L2TP deprecation: A new era of secure connectivity
As technology advances, so must our security protocols. As part of our ongoing commitment to provide the highest level of security and performance, we are deprecating the PPTP (Point-to-Point Tunneling Protocol) and L2TP (Layer 2 Tunneling Protocol) protocols from future Windows Server versions. While these protocols have served us well over the years and will still be available to users, it is time to transition to more secure and efficient alternatives: SSTP and IKEv2.
In this post, let’s walk through deprecation considerations, reasons, and recommendations to ensure you benefit from the best security options.
What deprecation means for PPTP and L2TP?
Deprecation is not removal. Deprecation refers to the stage in the product lifecycle when a feature or functionality is no longer in active development and may be removed in future releases. Features and functionalities are added or occasionally removed from new releases of a product. If they’re removed, that’s typically because we’ve added a better option. Deprecated features continue to work and are fully supported until they are officially removed. We’re certain that you already have product lifecycles incorporated into your management strategy. Even so, the deprecation notification can span a few months or years to help you make the necessary transition. After removal, the feature or capability will no longer work.
PPTP and L2TP have been reliable workhorses in the world of VPN technology. However, with the increasing sophistication of cyber threats, these protocols have become less effective in providing the robust security necessary to protect our data. Their vulnerabilities have been well-documented, and they are no longer sufficient to meet the current security standards.
Transitioning to SSTP and IKEv2
To ensure you continue to benefit from the best available security, we recommend transitioning to Secure Socket Tunneling Protocol (SSTP) and Internet Key Exchange version 2 (IKEv2). These protocols offer enhanced security features, faster connection speeds, and improved reliability.
Benefits of SSTP
Strong encryption: SSTP uses SSL/TLS encryption, providing a secure communication channel.
Firewall traversal: SSTP can easily pass through most firewalls and proxy servers, ensuring seamless connectivity.
Ease of use: With native support in Windows, SSTP is simple to configure and deploy.
Benefits of IKEv2
High security: IKEv2 supports strong encryption algorithms and robust authentication methods.
Mobility and multihoming: IKEv2 is particularly effective for mobile users, maintaining VPN connections during network changes.
Improved performance: With faster establishment of tunnels and lower latency, IKEv2 offers superior performance compared to legacy protocols.
Steps to transition to SSTP and IKEv2
Note that PPTP and L2TP will still remain available if you want to make outgoing VPN connections based on these protocols. This is true for future Servers and Client SKU releases. However, what is being changed is that Windows RRAS Server (VPN Server) will not accept any incoming VPN connections based on these protocols.
As a result, please refer to the detailed set of instructions here for a step-by-step guide on transitioning to SSTP/IKEv2: How to install and configure Remote Access (RAS) as a VPN server.
Conclusion
The deprecation of PPTP and L2TP is a necessary step in maintaining the highest security standards. By transitioning to SSTP and IKEv2, you are ensuring that your network communications remain secure, efficient, and reliable. We are here to support you through this transition. Azure AI Search October Updates: Nearly 100x Compression with Minimal Quality Loss
In our continued effort to equip developers and organizations with advanced search tools, we are thrilled to announce the launch of several new features in the latest Preview API for Azure AI Search. These enhancements are designed to optimize vector index size and provide more granular control and understanding of your search index to build Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) applications.
MRL Support for Quantization
Matryoshka Representation Learning (MRL) is a new technique that introduces a different form of vector compression, which complements and works independently of existing quantization methods. MRL enables the flexibility to truncate embeddings without significant semantic loss, offering a balance between vector size and information retention.
This technique works by training embedding models so that information density increases towards the beginning of the vector. As a result, even when using only a prefix of the original vector, much of the key information is preserved, allowing for shorter vector representations without a substantial drop in performance.
OpenAI has integrated MRL into their ‘text-embedding-3-small’ and ‘text-embedding-3-large’ models, making them adaptable for use in scenarios where compressed embeddings are needed while maintaining high retrieval accuracy. You can read more about the underlying research in the official paper [1] or learn about the latest OpenAI embedding models in their blog.
Storage Compression Comparison
Table 1.1 below highlights the different configurations for vector compression, comparing standard uncompressed vectors, Scalar Quantization (SQ), and Binary Quantization (BQ) with and without MRL. The compression ratio demonstrates how efficiently the vector index size can be optimized, yielding significant cost savings. You can find more about our Vector Index Size Limits here: Service limits for tiers and skus – Azure AI Search | Microsoft Learn.

8x-12x
**MRL + BQ (1/2 and 1/3 truncation dimension respectively)
64x – 96x
Note: Compression ratios depend on embedding dimensions and truncation. For instance, using “text-embedding-3-large” with 3072 dimensions truncated to 1024 dimensions can result in 96x compression with Binary Quantization.
*All compression methods listed above, may experience slightly lower compression ratios due to overhead introduced by the index data structures. See “Memory overhead from selected algorithm” for more details.
**The compression impact when using MRL depends on the value of the truncation dimension. We recommend either using ½ or 1/3 of the original dimensions to preserve embedding quality (see below)
Quality Retainment Table:
Table 1.2 provides a detailed view of the quality retainment when using MRL with quantization across different models and configurations. The results indicate the impact on Mean NDCG@10 across a subset of MTEB datasets, showing that high levels of compression can still preserve up to 99% of search quality, particularly with BQ and MRL.

Table 1.2 compares the relative point differences of Mean NDCG@10 when using different MRL dimensions (1/3 and 1/2 from the original dimensions) from an uncompressed index across OpenAI text-embedding models.
Key Takeaways:
99% Search Quality with BQ + MRL + Oversampling: Combining Binary Quantization (BQ) with Oversampling and Matryoshka Representation Learning (MRL) retains 99% of the original search quality in the datasets and embeddings combinations we tested, even with up to 96x compression, making it ideal for reducing storage while maintaining high retrieval performance.
Flexible Embedding Truncation: MRL enables dynamic embedding truncation with minimal accuracy loss, providing a balance between storage efficiency and search quality.
No Latency Impact Observed: Our experiments also indicated that using MRL had no noticeable latency impact, supporting efficient performance even at high compression rates.

Targeted Vector Filtering
Targeted Vector Filtering allows you to apply filters specifically to the vector component of hybrid search queries. This fine-grained control ensures that your filters enhance the relevance of vector search results without inadvertently affecting keyword-based searches.
Sub-Scores
Sub-Scores provide granular scoring information for each recall set contributing to the final search results. In hybrid search scenarios, where multiple factors like vector similarity and text relevance play a role, Sub-Scores offer transparency into how each component influences the overall ranking.
Text Split Skill by Tokens
The Text Split Skill by Tokens feature enhances your ability to process and manage large text data by splitting text based on token countsThis gives you more precise control over passage (chunk) length, leading to more targeted indexing and retrieval, particularly for documents with extensive content.
