Opening Subprojects in their own window
Morning folks,
I am a project manager. I am working in project for desktop, and my dependents are checking off tasks in project online. I have created a master project with many different subprojects. This has been really helpful to track how our ongoing client work affects eachother, as it all pulls from the same limited resource pool. Thus, when a client is delayed, this master project helps me visualize how all the projects work at the same time.
As our busy season ramps up, we are going to be working on over a hundred different projects, which means there will be over a hundred subprojects in the master project file. These subprojects are linked to the master project, but there is no easy way for me to open up the subproject in a new window. If I doubleclick the subproject in project for desktop, it does not open up a new window. It seems like the only way I can open this subproject is by scrolling through the list of projects in my PWA or typing it into the search bar exactly (as typing in the first few letters of the name does not auto-populate the rest of the name, which is annoying). Is there a way I can open the subproject directly from the master project file, or do I always need to painstakingly find it by searching in my PWA?

I need to change admin user for Azure SaaS Twilio SendGrid subscription/account
We have a SaaS Twilio SendGrid subscription in Azure. When navigating from the Azure resource, the user shown as “admin user” in the Sendgrid UI (https://app.sendgrid.com/) is wrong/outdated and needs to be updated. According to Twilio support, this must be done in Azure since everything regarding the account is managed there, but I cannot figure out how to change the admin user.

4. Microsoft Reflect updates – Check-in reasons
Elevate your learners’ voices by letting them share the reasons behind their emotions during check-ins, using research-backed options tailored to the specific question. When a student responds, they select their emotion and, if enabled, provide one or more reasons behind their feelings.
Once responses are collected, you can view them in a way that aligns with your focus—whether it’s understanding the overall class dynamics or identifying specific students who need extra support. To help you take action, the reasons are categorized into focus areas, each offering strategies backed by years of research from experts at the Stanford Graduate School of Education.
Reflect check-in reasons empower you to understand why students feel the way they do, view responses in ways that prioritize what matters, and use research-backed strategies to make a positive impact.
Try these new capabilities of Reflect right in your browser, in the new Windows app, in your Microsoft Teams class, or integrated into your LMS. To learn more, visit Reflect website.

Introducing Server-Side Test Criteria for Azure Load Testing
We are excited to announce a powerful new feature for Azure Load Testing: the ability to set test criteria on server-side metrics. This enhancement allows you to define precise failure conditions based on the performance of your server-side components, providing greater insight into performance bottlenecks and resource throttling issues.
Why Server-Side Metrics Matter
Traditionally, Azure Load Testing has empowered users to define test-failure criteria tailored to client-side metrics. By setting threshold values for these metrics, users could determine when their load test should be considered a failure. However, performance bottlenecks often originate from server-side resource constraints. By allowing test criteria configuration on server-side metrics, we provide a more comprehensive monitoring solution.
Getting Started
To leverage this new feature, follow these steps:
1. Assign a Managed Identity to Your Load Testing Resource
First, you need to assign a managed identity to your Azure load testing resource, which can be either system-assigned or user-assigned. This Managed Identity can fetch metrics from the app component.
System-Assigned Managed Identity
Here’s how to assign a system-assigned managed identity:
In the Azure portal, navigate to your Azure load testing resource.
On the left pane, select Identity.
In the System assigned tab, switch Status to On and select Save.
Confirm the assignment by selecting Yes on the confirmation window.
Once the operation completes, the page will display the Object ID of the managed identity, allowing you to assign permissions to it.
User-Assigned Managed Identity
To assign a user-assigned managed identity, follow these steps:
Navigate to your Azure load testing resource in the Azure portal.
On the left pane, select Identity.
Under the User assigned tab, click on Add, then select the user-assigned managed identity you want to assign from the list.
Select Add to confirm the assignment.
The selected user-assigned managed identity will now be associated with your load testing resource, and you can grant it the necessary permissions.
2. Grant Permissions to the Managed Identity
Next, grant the managed identity permission to read metrics from your app component:
Navigate to your app component in the Azure portal.
On the left pane, select Access Control (IAM), then select + Add, and choose Add role assignment.
On the Role tab, search for Monitoring Reader or Monitoring Contributor under Job functions roles.
On the Members tab, under Assign access to, select Managed Identity.
Click on Select members, search for and select the managed identity for the load testing resource, and click Next.
Select Review + assign to finalize the permission assignment.
3. Configure Failure Criteria on Server-Side Metrics
Finally, configure the failure criteria for server-side metrics within the Azure Load Testing portal:
Navigate to your Azure Load Testing resource and click on Create Test.
Under the Monitoring tab, configure the app components you want to monitor during the test.
Configure the Metrics reference identity, ensuring you use the identity granted access previously.
On the Test criteria pane, fill in the Resource ID, Namespace, Metric, Aggregation, Condition, and Threshold values for your test.
Select Apply to save the changes.
When you run the load test, Azure Load Testing will use these test criteria to determine the status of the load test run. The dashboard will display the status of each test criterion, and the overall test status will be marked as failed if at least one criterion is met.
You can even integrate your tests in your CICD pipelines to check for server bottlenecks with every release and deployment.
Conclusion
The new server-side test criteria feature for Azure Load Testing provides a robust mechanism for identifying and addressing performance bottlenecks. By configuring failure conditions based on server metrics, you can gain deeper insights and ensure the reliability and performance of your applications.
If you haven’t tried Azure Load Testing yet, you can create a resource, test your application and set failure criteria on server metrics today. If you are already using Azure Load Testing, we look forward to your feedback on this feature!
Thank you for your continued support.

Is there a way to get a cell to show alternate text based off deliberate characters found in a cell?
Hello, Is there a formula that will either place “Discount” or “Received” in a cell if another cell contains the characters “%” or “-” in it respectively.
I have enclosed a image to better demonstrate below. The idea is if I place 12% in col. A it will find the percentage character then in col. C will show “Discount” but if it is a date with a dash then it shows “Received”. If it finds neither I’d like it to be blank. The cells in column A are formatted as TEXT.
Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.

SQL try catch in activity has no effect
I am trying to build a dyamic pipeline for multiple customers.
My source is a Synapse Serverless view on top of a Azure DataLake. Sometimes a customer hast (currently) no data in some views. In this case the views throw an error.
Msg 13807, Level 16, State 1, Procedure omteam, Line 2 [Batch Start Line 0]
Content of directory on path ‘*/omteam/*.csv’ cannot be listed.
Msg 4413, Level 16, State 1, Line 569
Could not use view or function ‘dbo.omteam’ because of binding errors.
I created a sql try catch for such a case:
BEGIN TRY
DECLARE @sql nvarchar(4000) = ‘SELECT * from dbo.omteam where DataLakeModified_DateTime between ”1900-01-01T00:00:00” and ”2024-08-19 11:39:55.0000000”’
exec sp_executesql @sql
END TRY

IF(ERROR_NUMBER() = 13807)
SELECT ERROR_NUMBER() AS ErrorNumber,
ERROR_SEVERITY() AS ErrorSeverity,
ERROR_STATE() AS ErrorState,
ERROR_PROCEDURE() AS ErrorProcedure,
ERROR_MESSAGE() AS ErrorMessage;
ELSE
THROW
END CATCH
The SQL Statement works now in SSMS. In ADF the try catch has no affect, the activity still fails.

Editing a Teams Town Hall Invite
When you send a Teams Town Hall invite you can customize the email to edit everything except that it leaves the domain name of your tenant at the bottom of the invite for example:

There does not seem to be any options in Teams Admin to change this. We have multiple companies using a single tenant and it’s displaying a message that includes the tenant domain which we don’t want.

Unintended effect VBA code for drag and drop
Hi,
I am working on making an excel spreadsheets for my colleagues to fill in, not that they are not Excel savvy. The issue with my spreadsheet is that:
1. it has many lines with formulas/equations, and if the user would drag and drop any of the cells they are allowed to edit, they will brick the references of the formulas.2. also, the cells they are allowed to edit are “data validation” cells, meaning that the data validation will be removed if they drag and drop the cell.
So, I thought it would be best to block the drag and drop function. I am doing it with the following VBA codes :
————————————
Private Sub Workbook_Activate()
Application.CellDragAndDrop = False
End Sub
———————————–
Private Sub Workbook_close()
Application.CellDragAndDrop = True
End Sub
———————————–
The issue here is that. I can only copy data from my spreadsheet to other spreadsheets, and not the other way around. I have asked several people (and Chatgpt, of course). But there seems to be no easy fix for this issue. It is crucial for the people filling in this spreadsheet to copy data from other spreadsheets to the one that I am sending them.
So, any help regarding this issue would be super appreciated!
Best regards,
Aram

Excel pivot linked to OLAP CUBE refresh fail once workbook is re-opened
Hi all
I have an Excel pivot that is connected to an OLAP Cube. When I create the connection it works fine, but as soon as the workbook is saved and re-opened, I am unable to interact with the pivot or refresh the data. All other users are experiencing the same problem.
Errors we are getting:
Answer “Yes” and enter password and then error:
The connection to datasource works if it is a new connection, but have to recreate the file every time which is very frustrating. Office 365.
Tried interacting with the pivot on re-opening without refreshing the data, but that results in the same error messages.
Thanks

Filter, Sort and Print SharePoint Lists
Our hope is to have one list with resources from our entire organization. We would like folks searching the list to filter by the type of resource, city and the like. Then with filtered results, we would like to print a branded report so that we may give or send to a citizen that may wish to seek these service options.
How could Power Automate take the filtered list the user requested at the list level, and print it in a formatted report?
We are a service organization that has many divisions. Each division has a word document with a list resources. Many of the resources overlap. In an effort to reduce the many, many Word documents, we would like to create a list in SharePoint. The list would include the name of the resource, the area of help like “General”, “Crisis”, “Counseling”, the name of the division who is responsible for the resource, and other fields like email, website, phone numbers, etc.Our hope is to have one list with resources from our entire organization. I am making a timeline for some projects in Excel using a stacked bar chart, with the project names going down on the y-axis and dates going along the x-axis. I have managed to make the date axis have major intervals of 4 weeks, with 1-week minor intervals, but ideally I’d like the major intervals to be monthly – e.g each line is the 1st of each month.
I have followed guides online to try and do this, which have told me that in the “Format Axis” tab there should be an option to set the units and intervals to months, but for some reason this isn’t showing for me.
I will attach a scrubbed version of the excel document for reference.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Install of new Config Manager (MECM) – Issues with RDC library
Hello. We installed SCCM 2012 a few years ago. In recent years, this has really only collected dust and been little used.
But now, it has been decided that we will set up new hardware with server 2022 where SCCM 2022 will be installed.
What we’ve done is uninstall the old instance so we can start with a clean one.
I see that the entries we had on our DCs – in “System/System management” disappeared after we removed roles and uninstalled SCCM2012.
I have followed a step by step guide to install new standalone instances on 2 sites.(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wCElfLBLyX0)
Everything apparently goes well with new users, SQL installation, rights etc., until MS Config Manager Setup Wiazard has to do a Prerequisite Check..
There are 2 things wrong here:
Microsoft Remote Differential Compression (RDC) library registered
Microsoft Remote Differential Compression (RDC) library must be registered for Configuration Manager site server installation. Details at https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=2186120.
Existing Configuration Manager server components on site server.
A site server or site system role is already installed on the computer selected for site server installation. Remove the site or site system role from the computer, or select another computer for site server installation.
I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the “Remote Differential Compression” feature a few times but still get the same error despite having it installed.
I can understand that I get errors on the Exisiting configuration manager server, as we have had one installed. But a bit strange to get that message when it is uninstalled.
So I’m kind of stuck on these error messages… Does anyone know how I can move forward?
