About HPC 2019 High availability
Hi All,
I would like to inquire about the High availability feature built into HPC 2091,
Can jobs be assigned by two Head nodes simultaneously or only one Head node?
If there is only one, how can we know which one it is?

Divide and display value if in appropriate tax year
I am trying to make a sheet that will work out a depreciation for a set of tools for each financial year given depreciation of a given number of years for each tool.
I want to go along a row and check if that column year (from Row 2) is within a range of years (J and K columns give the start and end) and if it is have that cell equal to the value of the H column.
I made a formula to do this but it requires updating for every single cell as the feilds move when you drag the formula across.
Any Ideas

Is this even possible to include a hidden personal email address for F1 users on profile card
Checking in to see if this is possible –
Goal:
To pull personal email addresses from F1 users that are stored in PeopleSoft and add them into the MS profile card in the email spot, then hide them from public viewWe want to have the ability to send manually curated news and automatic “news you may have missed” from the newsfeed via our SharePoint intranet to their personal email addresses
Current state:
Staff’s personal email addresses are stored in PeopleSoft, and they have the ability to edit themWe have processes that run each week comparing AD Attribute Information against PS Attribute Information and updates accordinglyAll staff have access to PeopleSoft and use their Microsoft loginStaff are authenticated through AzureThis group of staff have F1 licenses and tend to be seasonal workers; it’s cost-prohibitive to upgrade their licenses
Ideal state:
The solution uses existing O365 or other corporate software, such as a Microsoft DelveThe solution pulls staff’s personal email address information from PeopleSoft, where it’s currently stored and allows staff to opt in and out from thereAlternatively, we use an MS application like Delve for staff to add their email address and opt in or out of corporate communicationsThe solution provides the ability for the staff’s personal email address NOT to be displayed in the MS profile card found when hovering over a staff person’s name

Copilot in Sharepoint
Hi,
We are trialing Copilot in our business and are experiencing an issue with Copilot searching our Sharepoint folders and files to generate responses. Copilot seems to take information based on the user’s activity rather than doing a broad search. This results in information being influenced by projects the user has had direct involvement in, discarding other potentially more relevant information. This is a problem for us as we are a management consulting company and have a vast storage of past projects that we would like used in aspects of future proposals. If the person searching has not had direct, relevant, project participation then Copilot won’t retrieve relevant information.
This is not an issue around access as all staff have full access to most of our Sharepoint data with a few exceptions.
Has anyone else found this and worked around the issue?

TLS 1.3 and older versions
Here is the annoucement today or at least that which I received today.
—————————————————————————————————————–
Following the announcement on 10 November 2023, we’re continuing our transition to requiring TLS 1.2 or later for all connections to Azure services.
To minimize disruption to customer workloads, several services will continue supporting TLS 1.0 and TLS 1.1 versions and complete their transitions by 31 August 2025 when TLS 1.2 or later will be required for all connections to Azure services (unless explicitly indicated in service documentation). The list of remaining services will be updated as transitions to TLS 1.2 or later complete.
While the Microsoft implementation of TLS 1.0 and TLS 1.1 versions isn’t known to have vulnerabilities, TLS 1.2 or later versions provide improved security features, including perfect forward secrecy and stronger cipher suites.
Customers still using TLS 1.0 or 1.1 should transition their workloads to TLS 1.2 or later versions to ensure uninterrupted connectivity to Azure services.
————————————————————————————————————
Now when was TLS 1.0 first commissioned? according to StackExchange in May of 1996.
TLS 1.0 is so bad most organizations stopped using it a long time ago. Personally, I have used TLS 1.3 since it has entered the market. And this is driven by the OS version as to when it is released as the protocol is so elementary to network communictions, in conjuction with tcp/ip, that it makes no sense whatsoever to even fire up your computer and think about doing anything meaningful without TLS. And TLS 1.3 is a complete rewrite from the ground up with no known security issues, assuming of course, one is not being targeted by a government body using quantum computers.
So the point is why is Microsoft just announcing the retirement of TLS 1.0? Why not, also, the retirement in tandem with TLS 1.1? The two place very serious risks on network communications over the internet often without one even knowing they are using these less secure versions.
On a VM for less than $10 a month I can use TLS 1.3 as a standard built into linux but Microsoft has this TLS 1.0 security hole still built into its products like Azure. At the same time Microsoft will upsell you and push Microsoft Defender for the Cloud for $1,995.00 per month to keep you up to speed of the security holes which Microsoft has failed to correct or allowed to persist. It seems as though some things never change with Microsoft.

How to easily set up a VPN between Azure and AWS using managed services (Updated 2024)
Introduction
Setting up a secure VPN connection between Azure and AWS doesn’t have to be complicated. In this guide, we’ll demonstrate an easy and straightforward method to establish a multicloud static VPN using only managed services—no need to manage virtual machines or third-party appliances. This method provides a quick and reliable way to connect Azure VPN Gateway and AWS Virtual Private Gateway over IPsec tunnels (without BGP config), ensuring secure communication between the two environments.
This post is an updated version of a similar guide I published three years ago, reflecting changes in services and adding valuable troubleshooting tips to streamline the process.
For more advanced scenarios, such as integrating dynamic routing with BGP (Border Gateway Protocol) to support automatic route exchanges, we recommend referring to the official Azure VPN Gateway Documentation for in-depth guidance.
Step 1: Set Up Your Azure Environment
1.1. Create a Resource Group
Go to Azure Portal > Resource groups > Create.
Select your subscription and region, and give the resource group a name like RG-AzureAWSVPN.
1.2. Create a Virtual Network (VNet) and Subnet
In the Azure Portal, go to Virtual Networks > Create.
Name the VNet AzureVNet and specify an address space of 172.16.0.0/16.
Under Subnets, create a subnet named Subnet-AzureVPN with the address range 172.16.1.0/24.
Add a GatewaySubnet with a /27 address block (e.g., ) for the VPN gateway.
1.3. Set Up the Azure VPN Gateway
Go to +Create a resource, search for Virtual Network Gateway, and select Create.
Fill in the details:
Name: AzureVPNGateway
Gateway Type: VPN
SKU: VpnGw1 (or higher if needed)
Public IP Address: Create a new one and name it AzureVPNGatewayPublicIP.
Active-Active Mode: Leave disabled unless high availability is required.
If you need to ensure High Availability, enabling the Active-Active mode will made needed the following additional configurations on the Azure side:
Create a second Public IP Address for the Virtual Network Gateway
Create a second Local Network Gateway pointing to the public IP address of the Tunnel 2 on AWS side
Create a second VPN connection pointing to the Tunnel 2 on AWS side
Configure BGP: Leave disabled for this lab
This process can take up to 30 minutes.
Step 2: Set Up Your AWS Environment
2.1. Create a VPC and Subnet in AWS
In the AWS Console, go to VPC > Create VPC.
Use an address space (e.g., 10.0.0.0/16) for the AWS-VPC.
3. Under Subnets, create a subnet with a name like Subnet-AWSVPN and the address space 10.0.1.0/24 for your subnet.
2.2. Create an AWS Virtual Private Gateway (VGW)
In the AWS VPC Console, go to Virtual Private Gateway and create a new VGW named AWS-VPN-VGW.
2. Attach the VGW to the VPC.
2.3. Set Up a Customer Gateway (CGW)
In the AWS Console, go to Customer Gateway, and create a CGW using the public IP of the Azure VPN Gateway. Name it Azure-CGW.
2.4. Create the Site-to-Site VPN Connection
In AWS Console, go to Site-to-Site VPN Connections > Create VPN Connection.
Select the Virtual Private Gateway created earlier.
Select the Customer Gateway created earlier.
Set Routing as Static, and define the Azure VNet subnet (172.16.1.0/24) as the static route.
Download the VPN Configuration File
After the VPN is set up, download the configuration file.
Select Generic for the platform and Vendor agnostic for the software.
Select IKEv2 for the IKE version.
2.5. Enable Route Propagation
After creating the VPN connection, go to Route Tables > Select the existing route table > Route Propagation > Edit Route Propagation, and enable propagation for the VGW.
Step 3: Finish the Azure Side Configuration
3.1. Create the Local Network Gateway
In the Azure Portal, go to Local Network Gateway > Create.
Name the gateway AWSLocalNetworkGateway, and enter the public IP of the AWS VPN tunnel (from the configuration file).
Set the AWS VPC CIDR block (e.g., 10.0.0.0/16) as the address space.
In the next tab (Advanced), leave the option Configure BGP Settings defined to No
3.2. Create the VPN Connection
Go to Azure Portal > Virtual Network Gateway > Connections > + Add.
Configure the connection:
Name: AzureAWSVPNConnection
Connection Type: Site-to-site (IPsec).
Virtual Network Gateway: Select AzureVPNGateway.
Local Network Gateway: Select AWSLocalNetworkGateway.
Shared Key (PSK): Use the shared key from the AWS VPN configuration file.
IKE Protocol: Set to IKEv2.
IPsec/IKE Policy: Use Default, or configure custom policies per AWS (AES128, SHA1, DH Group 2).
DPD Timeout: Set to 45 seconds.
Connection Mode: Leave as Default unless specific behavior is required.
Step 4: Add Routes and Configure Security
4.1. Check the Route for Azure Subnets in AWS Route Table
In the AWS Console, go to VPC > Route Tables.
Check if the AWS Route Table has a route for the Azure VNet subnet (172.16.1.0/24) with the VGW as the target. If the route propagation enabled before was done correctly, you should be able to see the routes to Azure subnet (172.16.1.0/24) automatically added:
4.2. Add an Internet Gateway (IGW)
To test connectivity between Azure and AWS, first deploy a virtual machine in the appropriate subnet on each cloud provider—an EC2 instance on AWS and a VM on Azure. Once both machines are running, connect to each VM using their respective public IP addresses. After logging in, use the private IP addresses of both instances to run a ping test and verify private network connectivity between them.
An Internet Gateway (IGW) is required for the EC2 instance to be accessible via its public IP address. Without the IGW, the EC2 instance won’t be reachable over the public internet, preventing you from running the connectivity test using the private IP address. This is the sole purpose of deploying the IGW.
Create an IGW: In the AWS Console, go to VPC > Internet Gateways and create an IGW named AWS-IGW, then attach it to the AWS VPC.
Update Route Table: Add a route to 0.0.0.0/0 pointing to the IGW for external connectivity.
After adding the new route, you should have 3 routes as below:
4.3. Set Security Group and NSG Rules
AWS Security Group: Ensure the Security Group for the AWS EC2 instance allows ICMP (ping) and other protocols (e.g., SSH) from Azure.
Azure NSG: Similarly, ensure the NSG attached to the Azure VM’s NIC allows inbound traffic from AWS.
Step 5: Test Connectivity Between Azure and AWS VMs
5.1. Ensure the VPN is established
1. From Site-to-Site VPN connections on AWS, go to Tunnel details and check that the Tunnel 1 is UP:
From Azure side, check if the status of the VPN connection is Connected:
5.2. Ensure ICMP Traffic Is Allowed
Both the AWS Security Group and Azure NSG should allow ICMP (ping) traffic.
5.3. Test Connectivity with ping
From the Azure VM, ping the AWS VM using its private IP:
2. From the AWS VM, ping the Azure VM using its private IP:
Troubleshooting Common Issues
1. Missing Static Route in AWS VPN
Ensure that the static route for the Azure VNet subnet (172.16.1.0/24) is added in the AWS VPN configuration. Without this route, AWS will not know to send traffic to Azure through the VPN.
2. No Inbound Traffic on Azure VPN Gateway
If Azure VPN Gateway shows data out but no data in, check the AWS route table and ensure the correct static route to the Azure subnet exists.
3. Custom IPsec/IKE Policies
If the default policies aren’t working, apply custom IPsec/IKE policies based on AWS configuration (AES128, SHA1, DH Group 2 for Phase 1 and Phase 2).
4. Further Troubleshooting
For additional troubleshooting guidance, refer to the official Azure VPN diagnostics documentation: Troubleshoot VPN with Azure Diagnostics.
Conclusion
By following this guide, you’ve successfully set up a VPN connection between Azure and AWS using managed services. Ensuring that the route for Azure’s subnet is added to the AWS Route Table is crucial for proper communication between the two clouds. If you need more advanced configurations, such as BGP for dynamic routing, consult the Azure VPN Gateway documentation.

Available Hours Incorrect
I’ve read the other posts on Bookings incorrectly showing timeslots as available, and this is a slightly different case.
My available hours are 9.15 – 2.45 most days, but yesterday I edited my availability on Thursdays to extend up to 4.15pm. From then, and still now the next day, Bookings is showing availability and allowing bookings up to 4.15pm all 5 days instead of only on Thursdays.
On the advice of a colleague, I just checked the custom availability settings for my individual meetings and all of them were set with availability up to 4.15pm each day. I don’t know why they were set to that. And I don’t know why the system would use the custom settings when I had selected to use my regular meeting hours on each one. But I’m mentioning it in case it’s relevant.
For now, I’ve resolved it by using the custom availability and it’s behaving correctly. But I want to be able to use the global setting instead of having to change the custom setting in every meeting type when my availability changes. Is there a chance there’s a bug? Or something else I need to do differently?
Thank you.

Request: Folder tree view for SharePoint sites Documents
Hi there Microsoft.
Many of my end users say they “hate SharePoint” .. but in discussing it with them, it’s clear that there is one main reason that many people much prefer using File Explorer than the browser view for managing files and folders.
Since Windows 3.1, and for every version including the current, file explorer has always had a folder pane on the left, which allows you to expand or contract a folder tree to expose multiple subfolders – which allows a user to easily drag and drop a file or folder from one location to another.
Sure, they can click on the 3 dots, or select the item, and then use copy/move, and browse to the new location, but … that seems cumbersome to many end-users compared to what they are used to in the Windows ui.
We are trying to get away from using the “sync” functionality to put SharePoint sites into people’s file explorer, and encourage them to instead use the browser view of their SP site shared Documents.
I fail to understand why Microsoft wouldn’t include a core file management functionality which has existed in its all of its gui operating systems for over 30 years, into the modern SharePoint.
It can’t possibly be hard to add the option for a folder view panel when browsing SharePoint documents in a browser, which you can expand and contract …
– if possible they could even access the Documents folders of multiple SharePoint sites which they have access to within the same tenant, so they can easily drag and drop files between sites’ libraries.
Please consider giving your users this option and adding this feature.
Thank you.

Abstract: Container images, AI weights, WebAssembly modules, and software packages – what’s the link? They are all examples of some of the many artifacts found throughout a software supply chain. With so many different artifacts, the real question becomes, “Is your software supply chain as secure as your production environment?”
In this keynote, we will navigate the journey of these artifacts from source to production, and showcase how to secure your software at each step of the supply chain using cloud native open-source tooling. With the help of key CNCF projects like in-toto, Notary Project, Ratify, and Copa, you will learn how to ensure your software is secure, consistent, and reliably delivered to production.

Drop Down List Filter Question
So I used a filter function formula to filter data based on specific category or vendor name like so:
However, what I realized is that what this filters is readable data not editable data. If I wanted to edit the data I would have to go to a different tab where the table resides and make the necessary changes which will automatically update when going back to the readable data tab like I showed in the image above.
My question is, is there a way to use a drop down list to directly filter a table that way I would be able to edit and filter my table in the same tab? Like this for example which I photoshoped together:
So if there is something I can put in the actual Filter function formula that can make what I’m asking work that maybe you excel experts might know and tell me that would be great. By the way this is my filter function formula: =FILTER(FilterTest,(FilterTest[Category]=L3)+(FilterTest[Vendor]=L4),””).
Although if its not possible using the filter function formula maybe you excel experts might have a tutorial video link that I can watch that will help me with trying to solve this problem.
I’ve spent days and hours trying to find videos or forums but I have had no luck.
Thank you and I look forward to your help

Nested Dynamic Filtering on web parts does not work
I created a Sharepoint page and added an MS list web part, which I use as a “filter” selection. Then, I added a second MS list to display the main list of content items, configured with Dynamic filtering based on selecting the “filter” list.
Then, I added a Document library web part, which is again configured with Dynamic Filtering based on the selection of the second content item list.
Unfortunately, when you select an item from the “filter” list and then select an item from the second “content” list, the document library does not update based on the selection.
HOWEVER..
If I select an item from the second “content” list without selecting an item from the “filter” list, the document library updates and shows the filtered content correctly.
Any idea why it would not work and how to fix this? Seems like it should work

OneDrive “Unable to share right now”
When I wanna manage my files and folders from the web, it shows the pic bellow:
1. The error shows from the web is Pic 1, I tried Chrome and Edge, the same result.
2. When I try from the PC Client, it gets nothing but circling. Pic 2.
3. It happens to all my own files and folders. Because :
1) When I manage and re-share the files and folders that shared to me, it’s OK.
2) When I log into the site with account of my friend, using my PC and same browser, it’s OK.
4. So most probably that the issue is from the MS server and from my account.
p.s. I’m using personal account with @outlook.com.
Please help! Thanks a lot.
