Update your sign-in technology before September 16th, 2024 to maintain email access in MacOS
Hi:
I have updated my accounts in my iPhone (iOS) and iPad (iPadOS) to support the modern authentication method. However, in MacOS (Sonoma 14.6.1, but it is also true in older versions) when trying to add a new account, the “Outlook.com” option does not appear; thus, in an actual computer (using MacOS) I can’t update my Apple Mail app to a modern authentication method. Does anybody know a solution or workaround to this problem?
Thanks in advance,
Oscar

Spinning circle when double-clicking on Access database.
For about two months I have been experiencing an intermitting problem when double-clicking on an Access database to open it or left- clicking and right-clicking on open to open an Access database. I get the blue spinning circle, and the database will not open. I can restart the computer and then it will work again. Also, I can start Access, use open and browse for the database and it will open. This only seems to be happening with Access. I use a Lenovo T15 running Windows 10. Has anyone experienced this problem and if so, is there any solution?

Is it possible to selectively convert VLOOKUP results to values in a budget.
Hi. Using Excel 2013 on Windows 10. Every month I need to pull in new values into a budget (rows = budget category line items, and subtotals and grand totals; columns = months) column using VLOOKUP and then convert those VLOOKUP results to values so that they remain fixed when I run VLOOKUP for the subsequent month at a later date in the next column to the right. However, within each month/column there are rows with the SUBTOTAL and SUM functions that I would like to preserve without having to retype them after converting all the monthly data in a column to values. If I convert the entire column to values, I lose the SUBTOTAL and SUM formulae as well as the VLOOKUP formulae. If I try to convert just the cells with VLOOKUP results, it is very inefficient because of the number of category line items (cells) involved.
I have tried to protect just the SUBTOTAL and SUM cells in the column, but I find if any cells in a column are protected/locked, then I can’t run the COPY, PASTE AS VALUE on the entire column in one go, which is my aim (although PROTECT operating in that way makes some sense). IOW, I end up having to just select the cells that have VLOOKUP and convert them in isolation, a very time consuming process because of the number of different budget line items that are being subtotalled in each budget category.
Is there a way to do this more easily? I am not very familiar with VBA, but will learn it if someone thinks that is the most likely way to automate this.

OAuth2 asks for work or school account?
Hello, maybe I am doing something wrong but this thing blocks me from using outlook mail.
So I’ve got the letter to switch to oauth2 method, did this in my thunderbird and it pops up login.microsoftonline.com window now to authenticate my account. But when I try to login, it says “Use your work or school account”, which I don’t have of course. My MS account is a personal one which I am using for like 20 years already.
This happens either when I switch existing account to OAuth2, or when I create new account in thunderbird (auto creation correctly fills all the modern server details, including server address and auth methods for both imap and smtp).
Thanks in advance

Pull data from columns in sheet A based on the value in column L and insert into another sheet
I have a sheet called ‘Personnel’ from which I would like to take values from different columns and insert it into specific fields of the next blank row of the sheet whose name matches the value in column L of Personnel.
In the sheet named ‘Personnel’ Column L has a drop down of values corresponding to grant numbers. If the value is grant number ‘101242’, take the data in column K and insert it into the next blank row of column H of the sheet named 101242. Then also take the value of column A from the same row in ‘Personnel’ and insert it into the same row as previously into column D of the sheet ‘101242’. I would like this to occur for each value in column L of Personnel to insert the name and salary into the corresponding Expense sheet for that grant.

In an attempt to pay out remaining revenue owed. B25, I’ve created a formula that would show this (D19+D20-A2)
However, I am not sure how to make it an option with the current formula in cell B25 [$185.00] =IF(D23<1,D19,+IF(D23<AB2,AF3,D19-D23))
Based on the earned FNL revenue $185.00 in Cell D19, and the earned Revenue of $545.00 in Cell D20, subtracted from the promised revenue of $650.00 in Cell A2, the remaining revenue owed from D19 is $80.00.
I’d like to show this in Cell B25. Is this possible, or do I have too many arrangements? Thanks!

Optimize your Azure costs with our expert guidance, pricing tools, and resources
Efficient management of cloud resources is pivotal for controlling costs and building resilient infrastructure. Taking a strategic approach not only maximizes return on investment but also positions your organization to innovate and manage risk. Recognizing the needs of our customers to bolster their cloud management practices, Microsoft recently launched Azure Essentials as an all-in-one showcase for prescriptive guidance, expert training, and AI-assisted solutions.
To help you optimize your cloud and AI spending, this blog aims to pinpoint the most critical Azure Pricing resources for your needs—including pricing models and calculators—and advocate our Azure Essentials best practices. We hope you’ll walk away with a solid plan for keeping your cloud environments scalable and secure without exceeding your budget.
Enhancing cloud and AI efficiency and cost awareness with Azure Essentials
As cloud environments grow more complex, effective management becomes crucial to prevent escalating costs. Azure Essentials addresses this challenge by offering Microsoft’s best practices and skilling opportunities for cloud and AI adoption. It aims to foster cost awareness, enabling organizations to make informed decisions tailored to their needs and integrate cost management into their ongoing operations.
The Azure Essentials approach enhances platform resilience, prevents cost overruns, and ensures a more efficient cloud journey, helping companies harness cloud and AI technologies with a strong foundation.
We’ve written before about the pricing options for our Azure services, which you can read here, but basically the journey comprises four important steps:
Find guidance and resources to navigate Azure pricing options: If you’re new to Azure, it’s important to understand the basics of cloud service pricing, which includes options like the free tier for exploration, and pay-as-you-go for flexible, usage-based payments.
Estimate Azure project costs: When planning a new project in Azure, it’s crucial to estimate costs accurately, and Azure provides tools like the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) calculator, Azure Migrate, and the Azure Architecture Center to help assess, plan, and optimize your migration and architecture with detailed cost comparisons.
Calculate costs of Azure products and services: When budgeting for specific Azure services, consider the various pricing resources like the Azure pricing calculator, product pricing details, savings plans, reservations, and Azure Hybrid Benefit, which offer significant cost savings and flexibility depending on your needs and commitment level.
Manage and optimize your Azure investments: To optimize your Azure spend, review your usage and costs using tools like Microsoft Cost Management, Azure Advisor, and FinOps on Azure, which offer insights, recommendations, and best practices for maximizing your cloud investments.
Integrating OpenAI cost planning with Azure budgeting tools
Effective cloud expenditure planning is crucial for aligning cloud investments with budget constraints, ensuring that businesses can scale and innovate without overspending. Azure has recently unveiled innovative features for Azure OpenAI Service, designed to empower your team with greater control and flexibility over their AI investments.
The cornerstone of this update is the ability to self-manage your AI resources — which means faster deployment and scaling of AI applications. Azure also introduced the ability to purchase Provisioned Throughput Units (PTUs) on an hourly basis for those workloads with lower-volume workloads or through a 1-month and 1-year reservation commitment for production workloads with high-volume.
To help forecast PTUs needed to for your workloads you can leverage the capacity calculator in the Azure OpenAI Studio. It is important to follow the guidance on how best to estimate, deploy, and optimize your PTUs outlined here. This approach ensures optimal alignment between your business objectives and AI capabilities, maximizing the return on your cloud investment while maintaining the agility to adapt to market changes.
Strategizing your cloud resource management with Azure tools
Maximizing the value of your cloud and AI investments requires a focus on enhancing reliability, security, and ongoing performance. Our Azure Essentials best practices aim to ensure your resources are optimized not just for cost efficiency, but also for robust security and consistent, high-level performance. Let’s explore some of the Azure offerings and tools geared toward helping you achieve that goal:
Azure strategic pricing offers
Azure savings plan for compute offers a flexible way to save on select services by committing to a fixed hourly spend for one or three years, enabling you to reduce costs while scaling your cloud workloads.
Azure Reservations allow you to save compared to pay-as-you-go pricing when you commit to using an Azure service for one or three years.
With Azure Hybrid Benefit you can save up to 85% over standard pay-as-you-go rate for Windows Server and SQL Server licenses and up to 76% for Linux RHEL and SLES subscriptions, offering an efficient path for transitioning from on-premises to cloud environments.
Azure tools
Azure Advisor delivers personalized, actionable recommendations to improve performance, security, reliability, and cost-effectiveness. By analyzing your cloud environment, Azure Advisor provides guidance to enhance efficiency, helping optimize resources while maintaining high-level performance and reducing operational costs.
Microsoft Cost Management offers real-time insights into Azure expenditures, enabling businesses to monitor spending, manage budgets, and forecast costs. With features like cost analysis and actionable recommendations, it empowers organizations to make informed financial decisions, identify savings opportunities, and ensure that cloud investments align with their financial objectives.
Unlocking Azure’s full potential with comprehensive learning resources
To demonstrate the full range of Azure Essentials resources, we’ve introduced a complimentary online learning program to equip you with practical skills and insights crucial for enhancing the reliability, security, and performance of your cloud and AI environments. Our comprehensive Microsoft Learn curriculum for Azure Essentials delves into key frameworks such as , the Microsoft Cloud Adoption Framework, and the Azure Well-Architected Framework, alongside Azure products and tools.
These resources are designed to help you improve your cloud environment’s performance, security, and reliability while maximizing the value of your Azure investment. By offering hands-on experience and industry-leading practices, we provide an in-depth exploration of Azure Essentials, enabling you to confidently navigate the complexities of cloud and AI technology management.
