Role based access control administrator role not working for Managed Identities
Hi,
I was testing with conditions available within “Role Based Access Control Administrator”. The condition was /role assignments/write can be used to assign permissions only to service principals & not to any user, group. Similarly except Privileged roles. I dont have to a specific option for Managed Identity, so choose to restrict it to Service Princiapl. Now when i assign this to an user it works as expected. The user is not able to assign back any roles to other users or groups. But when tried with a Managed Identity it fails. That Managed Identity is not able to assign permissions to other MI’s. i just recieve the below error:
╷│ Error: authorization.RoleAssignmentsClient#Create: Failure responding to request: StatusCode=403 — Original Error: autorest/azure: Service returned an error. Status=403 Code=”AuthorizationFailed” Message=”The client ‘1cddb99b-58d8-49ba-b77a-ef3e55242591’ with object id ‘1cddb99b-58d8-49ba-b77a-ef3e55242591’ does not have authorization to perform action ‘Microsoft.Authorization/roleAssignments/write’ over scope ‘/subscriptions/<<sub-id>>/providers/Microsoft.Authorization/roleAssignments/cbc0b177-e87c-69dd-15c4-0fea750aac9a’ or the scope is invalid. When I translate this error:
The Client “managed identity name” with object id…. does not have authorization…to assign “Managed Identity Operator”
Now for more details, this is the MI to which i have assigned that RBAC role with conditions set.

Bug Report: Icon Upload Popup Displays Crashed Default Image
Dear Microsoft Teams Developer Support,
I am writing to report a bug encountered in the Microsoft Teams Developer Portal. After deploying my app to the Developer Portal, I attempted to upload an icon for my app via the Developer Portal under the path: Developer Portal > App > Branding.
However, upon clicking the “Upload Icon” button, the popup that appears shows a crashed default image for both the outline icon and the color icon.
Steps to Reproduce:
Deploy an app to the Microsoft Teams Developer Portal.Navigate to Developer Portal > App > Branding.Click on the “Upload Icon” button.Observe the popup that appears, displaying the crashed default image for both the outline and color icons.
Expected Behavior: The popup should display the current default icon or a placeholder image, allowing me to upload a new icon without any visual issues.
Actual Behavior: The popup displays a crashed default image, which is the same for both the outline icon and the color icon, making it unclear if the icon upload will be successful.
Screenshots: Please see the attached screenshot illustrating the issue.

Lesson Learned #507:Error 4429 – View or function ‘XYZ’ contains a self-reference.
This last week, we worked on a service request where our customer got the following error message: “Msg 4429, Level 16, State 1, Procedure Viewd, Line 2 [Batch Start Line 9]
View or function ‘Viewa’ contains a self-reference. Views or functions cannot reference themselves directly or indirectly. Msg 4413, Level 16, State 1, Line 10 Could not use view or function ‘viewB’ because of binding errors.”. Following I would like to share the lessons learned about this error.
This error means that a view or function has been defined in such a way that it references itself, either directly or indirectly. This can lead to infinite loops and performance issues, which SQL Server prevents by issuing this error.
For example, CREATE VIEW ViewA AS SELECT * FROM ViewA or indirectly using the following code.
CREATE VIEW ViewA AS
SELECT * FROM ViewB;
CREATE VIEW ViewB AS
SELECT * FROM ViewA;
In some situations, we can also observe a view (ViewA) that calls a function, and the definition of that function calls the same view (ViewA). Use these DMVs we could check for indirect references that might be causing a circular dependency.
SELECT
referencing_object_name = o1.name,
referencing_object_type = o1.type_desc,
referenced_object_name = o2.name,
referenced_object_type = o2.type_desc
FROM sys.sql_expression_dependencies sed
JOIN sys.objects o1 ON sed.referencing_id = o1.object_id
JOIN sys.objects o2 ON sed.referenced_id = o2.object_id
WHERE o1.name = ‘ViewA’ OR o2.name = ‘ViewA’;

Once in Clipchamp, thanks to the ‘no experience necessary’ interface, you can take advantage of an easy to use, drag-and-drop mechanism that allows students and educators to immediately create engaging video presentations by combining videos, images, webcam footage, voiceovers, and animations. The webcam and screen recorder can take instructive content to a new level, making lesson plans and explainers not only quick and easy to assemble, but also incorporating creativity through adding virtual backgrounds.
The teleprompter is a great tool to assist with drafting and reading scripts. Gaining confidence in public speaking – particularly for students – can boost their future interviews and collaborative work.
Of course, we want to ensure that educators and students alike have access to cutting-edge technologies, which is why intelligent features have been prioritized to help streamline your creative process with AI technology.
Now, students and educators can use Clipchamp to easily use AI to create automatic captions for videos, as a focus on accessibility ensures everyone can enjoy and understand the content.
Text to speech is another great opportunity for users to become more familiar with using intelligent tools in their creative process. For those who prefer a more professional voiceover that also saves time, simply type what you wish to convey, and it will be brought to life using one of Clipchamp’s voices. Users can also make edits to their transcript, improving the flow or even shaving time off their creations.
Clipchamp arrives integrated with the tools educators and students use every day, as an integral part of the Microsoft 365 ecosystem. This means that the software is already trusted by many of those in educational settings, thanks to centralized IT controls, single sign-on, and robust security features within the Microsoft 365 ecosystem.

IBM Cloud Pak for Integration on Azure Red Hat OpenShift Now Generally Available
Integration is crucial to every business. While data and applications are at the core of IT (information technology) infrastructure, without integration, data remains locked in silos, and applications become isolated and complex. This lack of integration hampers business agility, slowing down operations and hindering change.
Businesses strive to reduce data exchange barriers through digital transformation to boost innovation and speed to market. However, transformation efforts can increase IT complexity and create more restricted-access business data. Effective integration is crucial for a successful digital journey, enabling secure data sharing between applications and services across hybrid cloud environments. With effective integration, businesses can boost efficiency, productivity, innovation, and knowledge sharing. Applications and data become more accessible, environments more resilient and agile, and new integrations faster and simpler to deploy.
With IBM Cloud Pak® for Integration, organizations can unlock their business potential, deliver new experiences, improve customer outcomes, and enable scalable automations across the enterprise. Cloud Pak for Integration is a hybrid integration platform that brings together a comprehensive set of integration components optimized to work together, deployed on Red Hat® OpenShift®.
Cloud Pak for Integration meets and expedites any integration need, whether it is accessing and sharing information via APIs (Application Programming Interfaces), quickly responding to business events, or securely and reliably accessing and updating record systems at scale using robust messaging and connectivity. This paper explores how Cloud Pak for Integration, deployed on Red Hat OpenShift, provides integrations within Microsoft Azure.
What is Azure Red Hat OpenShift?
Azure Red Hat OpenShift (ARO) is a fully managed container services platform that enables businesses to focus on deploying applications and accelerating innovation by offloading cluster lifecycle management to Red Hat and Microsoft. Jointly engineered and supported by Microsoft and Red Hat, ARO integrates natively with the Azure portal, reducing complexity and expanding toolsets with native applications and integrations with Azure services.
Azure Red Hat OpenShift (ARO) enables customers to allocate resources to deliver business value rather than managing the underlying platform.
Why ARO for CPI (Cloud Pak Integration): A Real-World Scenario
Consider a multinational retail company that has embraced digital transformation to enhance its customer experience and streamline its operations. The company has a complex IT landscape with various applications, including customer relationship management (CRM), enterprise resource planning (ERP), and point-of-sale (POS) systems, all of which need to integrate and communicate seamlessly. To achieve this, the company decides to adopt IBM Cloud Pak for Integration (CPI) on Azure Red Hat OpenShift (ARO).
Scenario: Enhancing Customer Experience and Operational Efficiency
Challenge: The retail company wants to provide a unified and personalized shopping experience to its customers across multiple channels (online, mobile, and in-store). This requires real-time data integration from various sources, such as customer profiles, purchase history, inventory levels, and promotions. Additionally, the company needs to ensure high availability and scalability during peak shopping seasons, like Black Friday and holiday sales.
Solution with ARO and IBM Cloud Pak for Integration:
Integration Hub: By deploying IBM Cloud Pak for Integration on ARO, the company creates a robust integration hub that connects its CRM, ERP, and POS systems. ARO’s managed OpenShift service ensures the integration platform is always up-to-date, secure, and scalable.
Real-Time Data Synchronization: Using IBM App Connect within the Cloud Pak, the company can achieve real-time data synchronization between its systems. This allows customer data from the CRM to be instantly available to the POS systems, enabling personalized in-store experiences and targeted promotions.
Event-Driven Architecture: Leveraging IBM Event Streams, the company implements an event-driven architecture where critical events, such as low inventory alerts or high-value customer interactions, trigger automated responses. This ensures proactive inventory management and enhances customer service.
API (Application Programming Interfaces) Management: With IBM API Connect, the company exposes APIs for its e-commerce platform, mobile app, and third-party partners. ARO’s scalability ensures that these APIs can handle high traffic volumes during peak periods without performance degradation.
Enhanced Security: Azure Key Vault is integrated to securely manage and store secrets, such as API keys and certificates, used by the integration platform. This enhances the overall security posture of the company’s IT environment.
Cost Efficiency and Performance: ARO’s managed service model reduces the operational overhead and cost associated with managing the infrastructure. The company benefits from Azure’s pay-as-you-go pricing, which aligns with its fluctuating resource demands.
Outcome: By deploying IBM Cloud Pak for Integration on Azure Red Hat OpenShift, the retail company successfully integrates its disparate systems, providing a seamless and personalized shopping experience for its customers. The solution scales effortlessly during peak shopping seasons, ensuring high availability and performance. Additionally, the company achieves operational efficiency and cost savings by leveraging Azure’s robust infrastructure and managed services.
This real-world scenario illustrates how ARO, combined with IBM Cloud Pak for Integration, can address complex integration challenges, enhance customer experiences, and drive business success.
Deploying Cloud Pak for Integration on Azure Red Hat OpenShift
Why Azure Red Hat OpenShift (ARO) for Cloud Pak for Integration on Azure?
Cloud Pak for Integration is built for deployment on Red Hat OpenShift. A Red Hat OpenShift cluster must be configured and running to install and configure Cloud Pak for Integration. Azure Red Hat OpenShift (ARO) provides a managed Red Hat OpenShift cluster and is a supported configuration for Cloud Pak for Integration. Customers need not manage their own Red Hat OpenShift clusters or Day 2 operations such as updates, patching, monitoring, etc.; instead, they can leverage Microsoft and Red Hat’s proactive management with Azure Red Hat OpenShift, focusing on business needs rather than infrastructure management.
Cloud Pak for Integration on Azure Marketplace offers deployment plans for new or existing Azure Red Hat OpenShift (ARO) clusters.
Integrating Azure Services with IBM Cloud Pak
IBM Cloud Pak solutions are designed to leverage the robust infrastructure and diverse services provided by Microsoft Azure, enhancing their capabilities and providing additional value to enterprises. Key Azure services that can be seamlessly integrated with IBM Cloud Pak components include Azure Files for managed file shares, Azure Key Vault for secure management of secrets, Azure Container Registry (ACR) for storing and managing container images, and additional storage options like Azure Blob Storage and Azure Managed Disks. By integrating these Azure services, IBM Cloud Pak solutions can achieve enhanced performance, security, and scalability, allowing enterprises to fully capitalize on the capabilities of both IBM software and Azure infrastructure.
Why Cloud Pak for Integration on Azure Red Hat OpenShift (ARO)?
Cloud Pak for Integration is a unified integration solution optimized for deployment on Red Hat OpenShift. Its components can be deployed as containers using OpenShift operators, leveraging Kubernetes container orchestration.
Traditionally, integration products were deployed as complex middleware infrastructure. Changes were challenging, and risky impacts on other business functions. Cloud Pak for Integration simplifies this by offering a single integration solution deployable within hours, delivering faster innovation with flexibility and efficiency.
Designed for cloud-native deployment, Cloud Pak for Integration uses Kubernetes Operators for standardized, powerful deployments with workloads that can deploy, run, scale, update, and restart independently. This removes complexity and maximizes flexibility.
Cloud Pak for Integration provides a comprehensive, consistent integration platform deployable on Azure and anywhere with OpenShift. Flexibility extends to licensing, allowing deployment of any capability with any capacity across containers or VMs under a single entitlement.
With consistent deployment capabilities, Cloud Pak for Integration simplifies building, deploying, operating, and updating integrations for end-to-end solutions. DevOps ensures automated operations, safeguarding and scaling workloads as needed.
Pre-built integration templates are available in the included asset repository, and can be modified before deployment, and new integrations can be rapidly created using guided preset defaults for ease of use. Assets can be flagged as approved to denote compliance with key corporate policies with the potential to enforce those policies at deployment.
Integration assemblies in Cloud Pak for Integration automate integration deployment. An integration assembly manages all integration solution aspects as a unified object, simplifying updates and migrations with a dedicated configuration and deployment tool, and helping to provide an audit point of control.
Summary
Integration is essential for business transformation and agility. Cloud Pak for Integration on Azure Red Hat OpenShift (ARO) offers a scalable, secure, and resilient deployment environment managed for you, providing a comprehensive integration solution for connecting and exchanging data across applications. Automation, AI (ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE), and the cloud power business transformation, ensuring data accessibility, security, and responsiveness.
Cloud Pak for Integration can be deployed into an Azure ARO environment from the Azure Marketplace.

DOES NOT UPDATE HP CLJ E78523 PRINT QUEUE
Good morning
I have installed on a HP LJ MANAGED E78523DN MFP the UP APP that HP has in its workpath.
The configuration of the printer in AZURE occurs correctly, and the installation of the printer on the user’s computer as well. There are no configuration or installation errors.
The problem is that it gives error of printing in the queue and does not print (logically).
I have seen that the refresh of the print queue does not do it and the refresh time goes up without any update.
I have a video in which you can see the failure more clearly.
I have escalated the problem to HP and they confirm that their APP works correctly after several tests and review of the internal LOG of the machine.
I leave an image in which you can see the error
Can you give me a clue where I can look, is there any way to see LOGS of the portal, has something similar happened with HP or other manufacturers?
Thank you very much

I have installed a standalone Win Server 2025 LTSC Preview Build 26052, which was successfully updated to Build 26063.1 through Windows Update,
on a pretty old but trusty laptop (i7-Q720, 8GB DDR3, SSD 860 EVO 250GB).
On this particular laptop I like to experiment on, so I have at times installed Win 7, Win 8.1, Win 10 and Win 11, but also Win Server 2012 and Win Server 2016.
The most recent installations were Win Server 2016 and finally Win 11, up till last month.
Now I performed a clean installation of Win Server 2025, but right from the start, I cannot enable sign-in with either PIN or Fingerprint, which of course worked just fine on Win 11 and Win Server 2016 and on any other OS.
The error displayed is: “The device doesn’t meet your organization’s requirements for Windows Hello”.
On top of that there is a warning displayed that: “Some of these settings are managed by your organization.”,
but maybe that’s irrelevant, or something to do with my tinkering.
The laptop is not connected to any Domain, and have not set up any work or school email accounts.
I have set up a new user, member of Administrators, and have tried with either the new user or the built-in Administrator user.
I have installed all drivers, all updates, and have looked anywhere I could think off.

Can anyone recommend a Windows 10 password reset tool USB?
I’m having a bit of trouble and I hope everyone here can help me. I recently forgot my Windows 10 computer password and I tried several methods but none of them worked. I heard that I can use some kind of Windows 10 password reset tool to reset my password, but I don’t know much about it.
If anyone knows of any good Windows 10 password reset / recovery tool USB, please let me know. I’m looking forward to your recommendations, thank you!
PS: I really should have made a password reset disk before. I didn’t expect to forget my password at that time, so I didn’t prepare it in advance, and now I really regret it.

Lost Access to the MTC Community After Alias Change
Hello,
I’m a MCT and can’t access the MTC community site that I previously could access. My MTC doesn’t expire until January 18, 2025. I recently added an alias email for security purposes and think that maybe is causing the issue. My email in my profile shows my alias rather than my original email address. Now I’m also worried the community site is exposing my alias which I use for security purposes. Please help.

Migrating file shares over 100GB to SharePoint Online
We currently have several file shares on an on-premises Windows server, with some shares exceeding 100GB. We intend to migrate these files to SharePoint Online. However, I have been informed that it is not possible to migrate over 100GB to a single SharePoint site.
Could someone confirm if this limitation is accurate? Additionally, if this is indeed the case, are there alternative methods for migrating these shares without having to split them?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Why Am I Getting the Quick-Books Administrator is Editing the User Information Message?
Why am I receiving the ‘Q.B Administrator is Editing the User Information’ message when I try to manage user settings? I’m the administrator and need to update user information in Quick-Books, but this notification keeps appearing and prevents me from making changes. How can I proceed with editing user details despite this message?

Windows Server 2025 an Nanoserver
Hello everyone,
Windows Server 2025 is already heading in the right direction.
Especially in the production environment where you still have to be completely self-sufficient without a connection to the cloud.
The only thing missing is that you can install Windows Nanoserver 2025 again as a VM with local domain connection for ASP.NET and services with .NET8.
Greetings
Michael
