ERROR: “Bad Request – Request Too Long” When Signing In To Microsoft 365 Using Work Profiles
When the following conditions are true:
Using the latest version of Microsoft Edge browser.When the browser is signed in to any Microsoft 365 account.When browsing to any Microsoft 365 website.
I receive the following browser error:
Bad Request – Request Too Long
HTTP Error 400. The size of the request headers is too long.
When I sign in to any Work Profile, no matter the account/tenant, the moment I browse to any Microsoft 365 page i.e. any website that redirects via: https://login.microsoftonline.com/, I receive the error above e.g. https://office.com, https://admin.microsoft.com, https://portal.azure.com etc.
If I sign-out from the Work Profile, everything works fine (i.e. I am presented with the usual Microsoft 365 sign-in dialogue for username and password, then 2FA code, then the expected page appears), if I then sign-in > browse > error … sign-out, works fine, sign-in, error etc. … consistently repeatable.
Using ‘Browse as Guest’ or any ‘Personal’ or ‘Work Profile’ without signing in works fine.
TROUBLESHOOTING ALREADY CARRIED OUT
Deleted/recreated all profiles.Signed in / out multiple accounts on multiple tenants.Sync options > all, some, none.‘Automatic sign in on Microsoft Edge’ enabled & disabled.‘Allow single sign-on for work or school sites using this profile’ enabled & disabled.‘Automatic profile switching’ all options on & all off.Deleted all cache/cookies, from all time in all profiles.Reset settings in all profiles.Completely uninstalled/reinstalled Microsoft Edge (i.e. Safe Mode > delete all files > all profile data> all temp files > all registry entries).
Q1 What could cause this error, only when the Work Profile is signed-in?
Q2 Aside from syncing settings, how would signing-in to the Work Profile effect OATH requests to https://login.microsoftonline.com/?
Q3 Has anybody experienced this or something like this before?
Q4 Are there any troubleshooting steps I haven’t tried?

Little brown boxes in my icons (and Dropbox) despite clicking “Always keep on device” in OneNote
I’m seeing little brown boxes in the corners of many of my icons, even with files inside my DropBox folder. I know this is caused by OneNote. I clicked on my OneNote folder and selected “Always Keep Files on this Device” but the brown boxes are still appearing, even inside Dropbox, which is weird because they are not cloud folders. Can one interfere with the other? Is there a way to fix this?

I do not want automatic back up to OneDrive
Often, when I click on a folder inside my Documents folder, the folder appears to be presented in the OneDirve folder and/or suggests that I back up to OneDrive. I only want to back up selected folders/files. When I go to the Sync and Backup folder and I unselect all folders, I am not allowed to save changes. At least one folder must be selected to save changes.
The situation is annoying. How do only backup folders/files (inside the Documents folder) manually and eliminate the backup prompt described above?

Finding Unique Values
Hi Magicians!
Column B of Sheet 1 in the attached file contains the data exported from an accounting software. The Ledger Account Names are separated by Carriage Return (Alt+Enter) character. The last line is Narration, which is also separated using Carriage Return.
What I am trying to do is to create a single dynamic formula which derives a list of Unique Ledger Account Names used in the entire range. Narration line is to be ignored.
I am using Excel 365.

Recently, I encountered a problem in my rescheduling, I have activities which started earlier than their predecessors, and after rescheduling they reschedule as retained logic, when i uncheck split task in option menu, msp ignores them compeletly and wont reschdule their remaining work in my new date, how can i make msp reschdule task remaining work without retaining their network logic?

Lesson Learned #506:Why Custom DNS Returns Public IP Instead of Private IP Azure Private Endpoints
These days, I was working on a simulation to understand why custom DNS servers resolve the public IP instead of the private IP when using Azure Private Endpoints.
Here, I would like to share some lessons learned about this topic.
We have many definitions on how to configure DNS servers, create Forward Zones, Conditional Forwards, Forwarders, etc., for the DNS database.windows.net to resolve the private IP of the Azure SQL Server Private Endpoint.
Lessons Learned
During several tests, I found that when we define the Private Endpoint configuration for Azure SQL Server, it is crucial to include the Azure Private DNS Zone.
DNS Server Without Forward Zone for database.windows.net:
If my DNS server has not defined database.windows.net in its Forward Zone, it will automatically try to query other DNS servers. Depending on the situation, these external DNS servers could reply with the public IP.
Busy DNS Server or Timeout Issues:
If my DNS server has defined database.windows.net in its Forward Zone but is very busy or times out, it might still try to query other DNS servers. Disabling recursion on our custom DNS server could prevent this, but it might impact other necessary resolutions, such as those used for redirection. Again, depending on the situation, these external servers could reply with the public IP.
Using Azure DNS IP (168.63.129.16) as the Last DNS Server:
In some scenarios, I included Azure DNS IP 168.63.129.16 as the last DNS server. Depending on how DNS requests are processed, sometimes the client machine uses 168.63.129.16 to resolve the IP. If I do not have the Azure Private DNS Zone defined, it will return the public IP.
Recommendations
Given these scenarios, I would like to suggest configuring the Azure Private DNS Zone even when using Conditional Forwards and custom DNS configurations.
When the DNS server that processes the request is 168.63.129.16, it will first check if there is an Azure Private DNS Zone. If one is defined, it will return the private IP instead of the public IP. Without the Azure Private DNS Zone, the IP returned will always be the public IP.

SharePoint online tenant content types with Word quick parts across site collections
Hi,
I have created new content types at tenant level and in these content types uploaded a Word template with Quick Parts linked to metadata columns from a SharePoint sites document library.
When I create new document libraries on new site collections and add content types from the tenant level, the connection in Word Quick Parts seems to disappear.
If I remove a Quick Part and add the same again to the Word document, the correct content is retrieved from the metadata column.
Why is the connection lost?
Are Word Quick Parts unique per document library or per SharePoint site?

Not sure how to explain just what I want. I have a picture of a vehicle with a vignette around the exterior of the vehicle, and I wish to insert this picture under text inside a text box, but do not want the white background beyond the vignette the to show. There must be a simple option and have been through all the ‘layout options’ with no joy. Any ideas appreciated, or is it beyond the capabilities of Word?

Today, I will be interviewing David Attamah, a Gold Microsoft Learn Student Ambassador. An Electronic Engineering student from University of Nigeria in Enugu State, Nigeria. He loves everything Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Power Platform.
What are your personal experiences in the Microsoft Learn Student Ambassadors program?
The Microsoft Learn Student Ambassadors program provided a platform for me to develop skills, engage with a vibrant community of fellow ambassadors, Microsoft MVPs, Cloud Advocates, and most importantly, Microsoft employees. This is one of the best Student Ambassadors program and I can confidently say that it stands at the top of similar programs.
This program gave me the energy to try out things I never thought I could do. I got introduced to Microsoft tools and technologies; Azure, Microsoft 365, Power Platform, Copilot, et cetera. I had the opportunity of hosting over 30 skilling events both online and in-person.
As an Ambassador, I always find opportunities to learn, mentor, collaborate, contribute, share, and have fun.
I have mentored both prospective student and current student ambassadors. I have collaborated with fellow student ambassadors in one initiative or another. There is this particular one that I lead with 5 other student ambassadors where fellow ambassadors had to sign up every quarter to participate to skill up their community in Microsoft technologies. Up to 1000 individuals benefited through such initiative by getting free Microsoft certification exam vouchers.
I still continue to contribute in the Ambassador community by creating guides to help Ambassadors who just joined the program. The list is endless.
With being so active in the Microsoft Learn Student Ambassadors Program, does this interfere with your studies?
The program is flexible, no matter how engaged a student is, the program will not be a barrier.
Being a student and an Ambassador, there was a time, it was difficult for me and other times, it seemed easy.
We all have different capacities and strengths and this all boils down to time management. Making sure that the program does not get in your way as a student. Finally, be sure to have fun as an Ambassador.
What have you benefited from the Microsoft Learn Student Ambassadors program?
A lot of these benefits can be seen in the previous question I answered. But being specific, aside from the Microsoft Learn Student Ambassadors Program swags I have received, I have free access to some premium platforms and tool like Microsoft 365, LinkedIn Learning, Visual Studio Enterprise subscription.
I have received free Microsoft exam vouchers. This program increased my confidence. I have sent proposals to Vice Chancellors of different schools to introduce Microsoft technologies in their school. I have access to a global community of people who use Microsoft technologies. I can simply send a chat instead of an email. The benefits keep increasing as the need arises.
What advice do you have for students and why do you think they should join the Microsoft Learn Student Ambassadors program?
This is one of the best global student community that a student who is 16 years and above in an institution can join.
You don’t need to be an expert in anything nor do you need to have prior knowledge of any technology. You need to be a learner, be open-minded, be willing to try new things.
Be sure to reach out to a current Microsoft Learn Student Ambassador if you need to ask one or two questions.
Take advantage of the free premium tools and platforms you have access to in building yourself while you’re in the program. Put yourself out there in the world through this program.
