What’s new in MSIX: May 2024
We’re thrilled to announce that the MSIX Packaging Tool (v1.2024.405.0) is generally available. This version introduces new enhancements in the Package Support Framework (PST)-MSIX Packaging Tool (MPT) Integration designed to streamline conversions for IT professionals and developers.
In addition, we have a version (v1.2024.508.0) available to Windows Insiders. You can access this by signing up for the Windows Insiders Program. The Insiders release features the integration of Trusted Signing, which is currently in public preview. We’re excited for you to try these new features and look forward to your feedback.
Enhancements now in general availability
PSF-MPT fixup enhancements
In response to customer feedback, we have made enhancements to the PSF fixups supported through the MSIX Packaging Tool user interface. To make MSIX conversions more simple, the tool now supports additional PSF fixups including:
Process Fixups
Dynamic Library Fixup
Environment Variable Fixup
Middleware Fixup
In addition to the existing fixups, the tool also has been enhanced to provide more guidance and heuristics. This will assist IT pros in selecting appropriate PSF fixups for their applications, thereby improving user guidance.
Sparse package improvements
In the past, invoking a sparse package would display a splash screen when launching an app from the share sheet. This was a common occurrence when a user would take an image, right-click to share, and then select the Snipping Tool as the app in the share sheet. A splash screen appears for a brief moment.
We understand that such interruptions, however brief, can disrupt the user’s experience. That is why share sheet now honors the splash screen settings for sparse packages. This enhancement is part of our ongoing commitment to improving user experience and ensuring seamless interactions with applications.
Features now in public preview
Integration of Trusted Signing
One of the most exciting features in the most recent version of the MSIX Packaging Tool is the integration of Trusted Signing, which enables remote signing of apps without requiring a local certificate on the packaging machine. A primary benefit is that it simplifies the app signing process and reduces the risk of exposing the certificate. This feature is now in public preview and can be accessed by joining the MSIX Packaging Tool Insider Program.
Before you start, ensure that you create three Trusted Signing resources:
A Trusted Signing account
An identity validation
A certificate profile
If you don’t already have these resources, you can use these instructions to set them up.
Follow the steps below to take advantage of this feature in the MSIX Packaging Tool:
In the Application Package Wizard, go to the Create package flow, and proceed to Select installer.
From the drop-down menu under Signing Preference, select the Sign with Azure Trusted Signing option.
Configure the attributes with your Trusted Signing Account name and the Certificate Profile name.
From the drop-down menu, select the Azure Region name where your Trusted Signing resource is available.
Proceed with the rest of the packaging steps to generate the signed MSIX package.
MSIX Developer Survey 2024
We’re inviting developers to contribute to the enhancement of MSIX! We’ve initiated a survey to gauge your experience with MSIX and discover areas for improvement. By sparing a few minutes to share your thoughts, you can play a crucial role in refining MSIX for the developer community. Your insights will help us make MSIX better for all developers!
While these are all the features that we are announcing today, it is only possible through the feedback of community members who support shaping the future of MSIX. Please do continue to provide your input via the Feedback Hub. If you have a feature request, you can submit ideas in the MSIX Tech Community. If you’re interested in checking out the new features join the MSIX Packaging Tool Insider Program today!
Thank you for your interest in MSIX!

MDI Sensor Updates options?
Hi,
So far we have noticed that MDI Sensor updates can be “automatic” or “delayed”.
However, for our Production environment, we’d like these updates to be controlled by our team, once they have done their testing in a TEST Environment (i.e. we do not want them to be “automatic” or “delayed”).
How do we therefore change the MDI Sensor update to be “manual”, or via SCCM or similar?
Thank you,
SK

Using CHAR(COLUMN()+64) within Conditional Formatting
Hi,
I have a need to highlight a set of cells based on whether or not a date (date is concatenated based on multiple other cells) =TODAY().
Heres the background:
A1 = “2024”
A2 through A61 = “January” through “December”
I2 though AS2 = “1”, “2”, “3” through “31” (Notice from screenshot that the columns are driven by day so not every month starts on the same day… i.e. Jan 1st is a Monday, but Feb 1st is a Thursday. So the columns are offset).
=DATE($A$1,1,I2) will return “1/1/2024”
I want to use conditional formatting to highlight I3:AS6 if the result from =DATE($A$1,1,I2) is equal to TODAY(). Meaning “I2″ in the above needs to be passed the column letter variable, so that each column in the Conditional Formatting is assessed based on it’s column day number.
=CHAR(COLUMN()+64) gets me the column letter.
Here lies my issue… by replacing “I” with =CHAR(COLUMN()+64) seems to make sense, but then I don’t know how to combine it with the row number (frozen as I’m trying to eliminate the need to have 48 conditional formatting rules).
This is the best I’ve come up with in the Conditional Formatting Custom Formula but obviously it’s not working:
=DATE($A$1,1,CHAR(COLUMN()+64)$2)=TODAY()
Any thoughts or advice is greatly appreciated.

Why does this formula break excel?
I have a formula that somehow causes excel to crash and am wondering if anyone knows why. This formula returns the value of (let’s say) 1. It is a one and can be used as a one in some cases. However, as soon as I put the “grp” value into an index function or do math on it within the module editor, excel crashes (it actually crashes on save in the module editor).

SPO List View/Edit Items Created by User – Can I Change the User?
We have an existing Excel sheet with many entries and need to make it a shared list in SPO. Each user should only be able to view or edit their own entries. The problem is the list will be pre-populated (by uploading the Excel file). Is there a way for me to set the viewing/editing rights of each entry to a particular user? I looked at the permissions for test entries added by two different users and did not see a difference in their permissions. How can I initially assign entries to users? Is it possible?

Help with Formula
I require help with this formula. I want Excel to highlight row 8 in red if cells C9 through C16 have more than one occurrence of numbers 1, 2, 3, or 5 input (refer to the color chart in the attached image). Currently, the row only highlights the day of the week if it is the same number in the column. I need the row to be highlighted with any combination of 1, 2, 3, or 5 if they appear in the same row. This is for tracking scheduling purposes and will indicate if there are multiple individuals on vacation, sick, or leaving early. Please see the example attached. Columns F and G should be highlighted, but the formula does not recognize them unless it is the same number in a column.
=OR(COUNTIF(C9:C16,1)>1,COUNTIF(C9:C16,2)>1,COUNTIF(C9:C16,3)>1)

Change the percentage scale of an OKR in Viva Goals
Our OKR is measured as a percentage that’s automated daily via a Kusto query. We would like to change the scale of the OKR in Viva Goals so that the Y axis goes from 80% to 100% instead of 0% to 100%. Is this possible, if so how? And can it be done without losing data/history?

How do you set “Bookings with me” private meeting links that don’t expire?
As a time-saver, I am a huge fan of templates. Copy/Paste/Send. Unfortunately, unlike the company Bookings page meeting links, the “Bookings with me” links expire, even when it is not a single-use link.
How can I prevent link expiration? I can’t find any documentation on this.
Thanks.

Multiple Language Invitations
We are migrating next month with our first Viva-Glint pulse administration slated for September.
One of the questions I haven’t been able to solve for so far is the lack of external links or multiple languages being included in survey invites.
We are multi-national and survey in 20 languages. In the past we would send out English invitations with a top banner of links to internal translations in the other 19 languages. It is my understanding that these links will no longer be possible.
The suggestions we have received are to send out invites in the local languages based on country code, but we have a lot of international movement and don’t want to guess at what language people might want.
I’m curious to hear how other companies that have already gone through migration are navigating this change. I feel like this is a big obstacle and may impact our response rate.
Thanks!

Windows 10 is hopeless omy laptop
My laptop crashed recently and there was no way back. I bought a secondhand laptop with more RAM and I had Windows 10 installed by a professional. I cannot get Windows 10 to run properly. If I try to search Google it does nothing unless I keep emptying the cache all the time. If I play a Microsoft game like Solitaire it keeps freezing when I try to access the game. It’s really annoying. The laptop with less RAM had no problems. Is there anything I can do?

can’t restore from ios backup after enrolling onto intunes
Hi,
i have had to restore an ios device and enroll back onto intunes. this is done via apple configurator to apple business manager and subsequently onto intunes via enrollment tokens. the problem is i want to restore the device from a previous backup which then resets the device all over. and the intune data from that backup is not valid as the device was deleted on intunes during that period. it seems easy but this is proving difficult. i have followed these steps however these options are working for me Back up and restore iOS/iPadOS – Microsoft Intune | Microsoft Learn
i tried downloading company portal and logging in – it finds my details and devices however when it goes to sync with intunes to confirm device settings – it just hangs. there is ‘some’ communication as i can see the device in the device overview screen. but it says ‘not evaluated’ any help appreciated. thank you in advance

Embed Code including Plus sign

Above is the code I’m trying to use to embed a PowerApp into a SharePoint page. It works perfectly on every other option/acronym I try. It would “seem” that the plus (+) symbol is the issue. However, AI continues to tell me I can use the Plus (+) sign in an embed code.
Can someone help me clarify and/or correct this? Is there some way I can adapt so I can use a Plus(+) symbol within an embed code.
Thank you in advance.

Two datasets in one histogram
Hi,
I have a problem. I have tried for a time to get this right aaaand it does not work, although I have tried a numbered on YT videos they have not worked. Basically I want to have multiple datasets displayed in a histogram, basically a double bar histogram. I have a screenshot of my problem, O1 and P1 are the datasets with the data in the column respectively. If I ad the “explanation” only “Min V” is shown and not “Max V” with separate bars included in, for example, orange. N1 is Sector, basically every sector have a “Min V” and a “Max V”, I want the values for every sector separated in 4 bars, both for “Min V” and “Max V” where the amount of sectors are counted on the Y-axis.
Is there anyone who knows what I can to?? Please show my, preferable with a video alternative if it is possible!!

Need Powershell script to remove versioning from SharePoint Doc Library with over 500,000 items
We have recently been “recalculated” by Microsoft forcing us to purchase 1 Tb more space which is extremely expensive. We must be using at least 300Gb or so of versioning but cannot find a script that’s reliable, works with MFA and will work with over 500,000 files.
