Deploy agent on Azure Virtual Machine Scale Sets
Hi,
I am looking for information if Defender for Endpoint is support to be installed on Azure Virtual Machine Scale Sets?
I have not been able to find any information either way. However, the fact that my Defender for Servers plan has not installed it on them, make me suspect they are not supported.
Can anyone please confirm? a official link would be preferred to suspicions.

Getting insights for book sales using Copilot
Hi everyone, over the last few weeks we have had a series of posts to show you some of the things that are possible to do with Copilot in Excel. Today I will once again use this table of book sales, using Copilot to find more insights.
I ask Copilot:
Which category has the best user ratings
I would also like to know which author is best, so I ask Copilot:
Which author has the highest average user rating?
After getting that response, I would like to know more than just the top author, so I ask:
Show me the top 5 authors by user rating
With that response, I can insert the Summary into a new sheet or copy the textual summary to add to a document or presentation.
Over the coming weeks I will continue to share more examples of what you can do with Copilot in Excel.
Thanks for reading,
Microsoft Excel Team

Facing issue while adding app to intunes portal using Microsoft Graph API
My application is used to automate the process of adding win32 apps to intunes portal for different tenant.
Created a blazor application with .Net 6 and imported Microsoft Graph package. While adding the app metadata to the created object of Win32LobApp inbuilt class of Microsoft Graph package, there are mandatory parameters that is required to add the app to the intunes portal. Some of the mandatory fields are not matching with the parameters that are available in intunes portal.
Below are the mandatory fields that are there in the portal for creating Win32 app in intunes portal.
NameDescriptionPublisherInstall commandUninstall commandOperating system architectureMinimum operating systemRules format – Manually Configure Detection RuleRule typePathFile or folderDetection method
Could you suggest how all these parameters can be integrated to intues using Graph API from my .Net application.

Communication problem between two Windows Server servers on port 38008
Good afternoon everyone,
I have been trying to solve a communication problem between two servers for 2 weeks. I need from virtual server A (Azure VM) to query server B (Azure VM) via POSTMAN.
Both servers are communicating with each other on standard ports.
I have made an Inbound and Outbound exception in Windows Firewall and in Network Security Groups in Azure. I am still getting errors related to timeout and no communication when I test it with telnet or Azure VM with Connection Troubleshooting.
When I try to run a GET in POSTMAN, I end up with a failure to communicate error.
Any ideas on how to fix this?
I can put you more details – let me know what you need. Thank you

Modify playlist view to add additional field?
I want to use the stream playlist view to curate a community training video series that we have been hosting for our new PMO. We have monthly training calls that we record, but we also want to make the link to the PPT slides visible within a playlist format. I was hoping there might be a way to modify the view of a playlist in a similar fashion to editing other MS List views but I can’t seem to figure it out.
Ideally wanted to be able to show a button in the sidebar thing. See my janky mockup image for what I’m describing

Improving Project Management: A Proposal for Integrated Metrics
Improving Project Management: A Proposal for Integrated Metrics
In the dynamic world of project management, the ability to assess progress and challenges quantitatively is essential. An innovative suggestion for Microsoft would be to develop an integrated tool that not only allows the inclusion of the total monetary value of the project, but also offers a detailed breakdown of costs by stage, along with an assessment of the degree of difficulty associated with each of these stages.
Imagine an intuitive interface where managers can enter the financial value of the project and then detail the estimated costs for each step. In addition, they could assign a degree of difficulty, perhaps on a scale of 1 to 10, to each stage of the project. This difficulty metric would help identify potential bottlenecks and allocate resources more efficiently.
This proposal would not only make it easier to visualize the project’s financial outlook but also promote.

Maximizing Azure Resource Insights: Introducing the Azure Inventory Gateway
Introduction
Azure Resource Graph (ARG) is an efficient tool for querying Azure resources, but it doesn’t always provide the full scope of information you need about them, especially when it comes to in-depth details.
This is where Resource Inventory Gateway comes into play. ARG’s limitations – such as not retrieving all attributes or configurations for a resource – force users to make additional API calls to Azure Resource Manager (ARM). Instead of manually querying multiple resources, this gateway automates and consolidates those calls, returning a complete data set.
TLDR; GitHub Repository
Why we build the Azure Inventory Gateway?
ARG (Azure Resource Graph) missing attributes:
Azure Resource Graph is a powerful service that allows you to explore and query your Azure resources across multiple subscriptions quickly and efficiently, providing detailed insights without needing individual API calls but it is not includes all ARM attributes.
Azure Resource Manager (ARM) Rest API capability
ARM is designed to handle queries for a single resource at a time.
To retrieve data from multiple resources, whether across a single subscription or multiple subscriptions, you need to execute multiple API calls.
The Azure Inventory Gateway simplify the achievement of this capability.
What is Azure Inventory Gateway?
Azure Inventory Gateway is a .NET-based gateway that simplifies the management and aggregation of REST API calls.
This solution provides an endpoint where you can send an API call along with variables. It processes the request and returns a unified response by aggregating the results from the APIs calls.
Currently it is including 2 interface gateways:
ARM Gateway – Interact with Azure Resource Manager (ARM) REST API.
Cost Gateway – Interact with Azure Cost Management REST API.
Azure Workbook
Workbooks provide a flexible canvas for data analysis and the creation of rich visual reports within the Azure portal. They allow you to tap into multiple data sources from across Azure and combine them into unified interactive experiences.
You can use the Azure inventory Gateway in Azure workbooks.
To make a call to the Azure Inventory Gateway, you need to use the custom endpoint data source and provide the appropriate API call along with the necessary variables.
You can find all details here.
Examples
Azure OpenAI Model Deployments
List all deployment models across all my Azure OpenAI resources
This provides a centralized view of your deployment models across subscriptions and resources.
If you need to locate where a specific model is deployed, you can now easily search across all your instances.
Azure OpenAI Models
List all supported models across all my Azure OpenAI resources
This provides a centralized view of your supported models, versions, lifecycle (Generally Available, Preview), creation date, etc. across subscriptions and resources.
If you need to locate where a specific model or version is supported, you can now easily search across all your instances.
Conclusion
Azure Inventory Gateway provides a streamlined approach to accessing complete resource data, eliminating the need for multiple ARM queries and delivering unified results. This tool saves time, automates the complexity of resource management, and expands the capabilities of Azure Resource Graph.
To get started, check out the GitHub repository, and integrate it into your resource management workflows today. For any queries or to contribute, feel free to connect via the repo or submit feedback!

How to enroll ios device by Apple business manager
Hi All,
My ABM application has been approved, and the test device iPad has also been registered with ABM through Apple Configurator. MDM has also been assigned to him, and finally synchronized to intune,
As shown in the picture, but I don’t know how to register the iPad on intune and apply the profile. My IOS profile only displays “Ready to enroll”,
but when I use the company portal or Microsoft authentication for my iPad, I only apply the default profile, just like before using ABM. The image below still shows “Ready to enroll”,
I don’t know how to apply the profile ?

azure file share resource group name is in lowercase instead of uppercase prefix ‘mc’
I have several AKS clusters in Azure. When create the clusters with Terraform, I see a default resource group created in the format ‘MC_<CLUSNER_NAME>-aks_<CLUSNER_NAME>_<CLUSTER_REGION>’.
My setup is like this:
created AKS clusterI have some Azure file shares which are loaded as PV in kubernetesI want to backup those file shares via Azure Recovery Service vault’s backup policy and backup ‘file share’ item.
I also created a Azure Recovery Services vault. While working with protected items (file shares) in vault where I try to backup file shares, I see that the source file shares’ resource group is prefixed with lowercase ‘mc_’ instead of uppercase as stated in first line. This means:
Instead of ‘MC_<CLUSNER_NAME>-aks_<CLUSNER_NAME>_<CLUSTER_REGION>’, it’s shown as ‘mc_<CLUSNER_NAME>-aks_<CLUSNER_NAME>_<CLUSTER_REGION>’ for the file shares.
Can you tell us why is this?
The problem I am having is that, if I have some azure file shares as vault protected items and I try to import those resources in terraform state file, I get an error where terraform wants to re-create the backup items in vault as the resource group name does not match (due to ‘mc’ letter case). Azure appears to consider this parameter as case-sensitive during API calls (our suspicion), that’s why even though the resource group is prefixed with “MC_” (uppercase) everywhere else (other Azure UIs and my terraform import’s resource ID stated it in uppercase ‘MC_’ prefix, resource group UI and even Azure docs), but vault backup item for file share shows it prefixed with ‘”mc_” (lowercase) in the UI. Can you please explain why is this?
Here’s an example where I am trying to import Azure’s data into terraform state file, but this should not cause any replacement. Please note down the ‘source_storage_account_id’ entry where it says is causing replacement, due to case issue.
Case issues occur here ([a] ‘mc’ & ‘MC’; [b]) ‘Microsoft.Storage’ & ‘Microsoft.storage’):
[a] …/resourceGroups/mc_CLUSTER_NAME-aks_CLUSTER_NAME_CLUSTER_REGION/… –> /resourceGroups/mc_CLUSTER_NAME-aks_CLUSTER_NAME_CLUSTER_REGION/…[b] …providers/Microsoft.Storage/storageAccounts/STORAGE_ACCOUNT_NAME –> providers/Microsoft.storage/storageAccounts/STORAGE_ACCOUNT_NAME
From terraform plan:
# module.main.azurerm_backup_protected_file_share.my_fileshares[“STORAGE_ACCOUNT_NAME_pvc-<FILE_SHARE_ID>”] must be replaced
# (imported from “/subscriptions/SUBSCRIPTION_ID/resourceGroups/CLUSTER_NAME-projectX/providers/Microsoft.RecoveryServices/vaults/CLUSTER_NAME-vault/backupFabrics/Azure/protectionContainers/StorageContainer;storage;mc_CLUSTER_NAME-aks_CLUSTER_NAME_CLUSTER_REGION;STORAGE_ACCOUNT_NAME/protectedItems/AzureFileShare;FILE_SHARE_FRIENDLY_NAME”)

}
You can verify this case issue from here:
any resource group named in this format: ‘MC_<CLUSNER_NAME>-aks_<CLUSNER_NAME>_<CLUSTER_REGION>’.Check resources under it, some of them have it in lowercase ‘mc_’ prefix, some have uppercase ‘MC_’ prefix. 3. Check file share backup item in a recovery services vault. The share is shown in lowercase ‘mc_’ prefix.
Can you tell us why is this case shown differently? And are api calls for resource IDs case-sensitive?

Announcing the General Availability of Java experiences on Azure Container Apps
Azure Container Apps is a fully managed, serverless container platform that enables you to build, deploy, and run containerized applications. With Azure Container Apps, you can elastically scale down to 0 and expand as needed. You can design resilient microservices with unified networking and leverage GPU-enabled workload profiles to run AI-powered apps anytime anywhere. All of this means your developer gets to spend a lot more time writing code for your business and not get sidetracked by things that don’t directly contribute to your success. To take things to the next level, we’ve created a wide range of productivity experiences to help you configure, monitor and troubleshoot Java apps, which are now generally available.
Applications, especially microservices, need some type of middleware to facilitate service-to-service communication. With Azure Container Apps, you can use Spring Cloud Service Registry for service discovery, Spring Cloud Config server to externalize app configurations, as well as monitor metrics and download dump files from Spring Boot Admin.
These components are fully managed and exist in the Azure Container Apps environment. They’re readily available to serve your Java apps, so you can simply use them and let Azure handle the operational details. As a developer or DevOps engineer, you no longer need to worry about mundane tasks such as installation, version upgrades, or HA when it comes to running managed Java components in Azure Container Apps.
To ensure applications operate in top conditions and meet desired levels of throughput and availability, it’s very important that you monitor various aspects of application metrics. Azure container apps is natively integrated with Azure Monitor, providing out-of-box JVM and Tomcat metrics alongside with container metrics. This already covers the majority of diagnostic scenarios running containerized apps in the cloud. However, to tackle more complex issues like identifying memory leaks and deadlocks, we now provide a Java specific visualized monitoring experience via Spring Boot Admin, through which you can intuitively view the state of Spring apps, beans and environment variables. Additionally, you can easily capture logs, dump files, and adjust log levels with a single click, without needing to restart the application.
Deploying and running Java applications on Azure Container Apps is now more streamlined and efficient. Visit https://aka.ms/ACAJava to learn more and deploy your first Java app today!
