Looking for a best practice for using Active Directory sync users to M365 without Exchange Server
Dear Exchange Team
I’m looking for a best practice for my organization about using both Active Directory and M365
We have a Domain Controller on-premise installed Azure AD Connector to sync all accounts on-premise to M365.
Besides, we have an Exchange Server 2013 installed Hybrid Configuration Wizard (HCW) to migrate all mailboxes from on-premise to Exchange Online. This is complete.
For now, I would like to decommission the Exchange 2013 completely. As current I have to maintain the Exchange Server with 1.5 TB its database, this is a waste of resource and it’s a lot of effort to maintain both environments like that.
I’m still using Active Directory to synchronize users to M365 and then creating mailboxes for them in M365. However, after reading many articles on the subject, I still haven’t found a way to create on-premises accounts for new employees, synchronize those accounts to M365, and then create mailboxes for them from Exchange Online.
Is there a solution for this case?
Thank in advanced!

How can I download audio from Youtube? Any good youtube audio downloader for PC?
As a music enthusiast who often needs audio clips for personal projects, I find myself frequently turning to YouTube for its vast collection of content. However, downloading audio directly from YouTube can be tricky task in 2024, especially on a Windows PC.
Anyone know a good YouTube Audio Downloader that supports batch downloading audio from YouTube site? I’ve come across several online tools and software, but the music files are in low quality with noise. In addition, these online youtube downloaders have limitations and sketchy pop-ups.

iOS MS Edge URLAllowlist configuration
Hi, I’ve spent many hours to try a lot of ways to allow only 2 URLs on Intune Managed iPads without success. Here is the working Managed Device App Policy : https://i.imgur.com/J4JkW3B.png (every key work). I want to add 2 websites allowed and every others blocked. I read I could do this with the URLAllowlist configuration key without using the URLBlocklist key. Here is what I try in the configuration value (tried with * and www and does not work) :
<array> <string> https://*.google.com </string> <string> https://*.yahoo.com </string> <string> edge://* </string> </array> (saw this in a reddit post)
<array> <string> https://*.google.com </string> <string> https://*.yahoo.com </string </array> (saw this on official MS docs)
https://*.google.com | https://*.yahoo.com
I also try a Managed App Configuration policy instead of a Managed Device one. Here is the configuration (which does not work at all) : https://i.imgur.com/k3Osjty.png I’m running out of ideas on how to do this, even though it seems basic. I didn’t think I would have trouble doing this specific config as the auto refresh kiosk mode was not too hard to set up. If someone have a clue I would be very grateful. Sorry for my english as it is not my native language.

Security Baseline Version 23H2, greenfield deployment
Hi,
Is there a best practice to start rolling out the Microsoft security baseline. I am in a Greenfield situation where I would like to use this baseline as a starting point. This by first adjusting the baseline by removing what I think might be causing issues for the user. There are a lot of settings in this baseline so I am sure some of them will causes issues for users. Since you simply can’t disable the policy and all settings will be reverted what is the best practice around this?
Make a copy of the existing baseline adjust settings and re-apply the correct settings?
I read that Intune is tattooing some settings an the only way to reverse is to wipe and re-deploy, or manually fix in registry.
Any advice on this, maybe not use the baseline and built template gradually.

XML data to Table using Power Query
I have a query to get XML web contents which I would like to use in a table in my worksheets. I’ve managed to filter out all the unneeded and unnecessary data from the resultset, but I don’t know how to convert the current data I have into an actual table.
This is my current query, which returns the dataset below.
let
BaseLink = “https://web-api.tp.entsoe.eu/api?securityToken=SECURITY_TOKEN”,
QueryParamDocType = “&documentType=A44”,
QueryParamProcessType = “&processType=A62”,
QueryParamRegion = “&in_Domain=10YNL———-L&out_Domain=10YNL———-L”, // Netherlands
QueryParamStartTime = “&periodStart=202405312300”, // 31st of May 2024, 23:00
QueryParamEndTime = “&periodEnd=202406302300”, // 30th of June 2024, 23:00
Source = Xml.Document(Web.Contents(
BaseLink &
QueryParamDocType &
QueryParamProcessType &
QueryParamRegion &
QueryParamStartTime &
QueryParamEndTime)),
#”Removed Columns” = Table.RemoveColumns(Source,{“Name”, “Namespace”, “Attributes”}),
#”Expanded Value” = Table.ExpandTableColumn(#”Removed Columns”, “Value”, {“Value”}, {“Value.Value”}),
#”Removed Top Rows” = Table.Skip(#”Expanded Value”,8),
#”Expanded Value.Value” = Table.ExpandTableColumn(#”Removed Top Rows”, “Value.Value”, {“Value”}, {“Value.Value.Value”}),
#”Removed Top Rows1″ = Table.Skip(#”Expanded Value.Value”,2),
#”Removed Alternate Rows” = Table.AlternateRows(#”Removed Top Rows1″,0,7,1),
#”Expanded Value.Value.Value” = Table.ExpandTableColumn(#”Removed Alternate Rows”, “Value.Value.Value”, {“Value”}, {“Value.Value.Value.Value”}),

#”Removed Alternate Rows2″ = Table.AlternateRows(#”Expanded Value.Value.Value.Value”,1,1,49)
in
#”Removed Alternate Rows2″
(Not worrying about the column names right now, I will fix those once I’ve got everything in a table)
There’s a start record every 49 rows and in between those are 24 rows with position, which indicate the hour of the day and 24 rows with price.amount, which has the value I need for calculating the hourly prices.
I’d like to have a table that looks somewhat akin to this:
StartPositionPrice.Amount2024-05-31T22:00167.862024-05-31T22:00267.77……
This Query is somewhat dynamic. I want to be able to retreive data from different dates, without having to do a lot of work in dissecting a table.

ChatToolCall.FunctionName always returns keyword ‘python’, is that a bug?
I used the sample code ChatWithTools in azure-sdk-for-

The only change I made is that the ‘options’ is passed to chatClient.CompleteChat function to make it work.

Enable Annotation Tools for Screen Sharing
Hello,
I hope this message finds you all well. I am writing to request an enhancement to the screen-sharing and annotation capabilities in Microsoft Teams, specifically to improve the experience for interactions with external parties.
Feature Request:
We kindly request the following enhancements to be considered for future updates to Microsoft Teams:
Enable Annotation Tools for Screen Sharing: Allow external meeting participants to use annotation tools, such as drawing, highlighting, and pointing, directly on the shared screen when interacting with external participants. This feature would greatly enhance the ability to guide users through complex processes and provide visual instructions.
I understand Microsoft developed something over the past couple of years, but the feature didn’t work as promised. All that needs to be done is to copy the Zoom/Slack solution.
Can someone help me with where I can follow a feature request?
Thanks,
Brad

Windows 11 24H2 update KB5040435 will not install
I received KB5040435 which is a cumulative update. Goes all the way through and then says something is wrong and uninstalls. Error code is 0x8000f0922 Tried multiple times. Tried the update troubleshooter, DISM and SFC. I did a restore point of a month ago. 24H2 26100.1080 now.
The process takes a long time to uninstall and go back. Since the Updates are totally automatic, the process will repeat every time there is a new update unless I select the delay option. I have tried to install the out of date hide show utility, but I cannot get it installed.
Am I domed to live with this forever?

Validate open text responses in Microsoft Forms
I’m excited to share that you can apply more rules to your open text questions in Microsoft Forms, enhancing the accuracy and quality of the data collected! Now you can create rules that help you validate the format of answers like emails and URLs. You can also require specific text in the answer and provide minimum or maximum length requirements. Let’s dive in and see how we can better use this in our daily work. You can also try setting restrictions yourself with this template.
Imagine you are creating a customer satisfaction survey. You add the following restrictions to your open text question to ensure the responses are meaningful and actionable:
Input must contain a certain word
To gather customers’ feedback on their overall experience with a specific product, ensure their response includes keywords such as “experience” to guide them in providing relevant feedback.
Input length
In such a form, we usually ask customers for additional comments or suggestions. We can set a character limit for responses, such as no more than 250 characters, to encourage clear and sufficiently detailed feedback that is easy to analyze and take action on.
Email validation
In the end of the survey, you need to ask respondents to provide their email address for follow-up. Now you can validate that the input is a properly formatted email address to ensure accurate communication.
Responder experience
When responders open the survey, they will find default text in the text box reminding them to input answers in the correct format. If they enter an incorrect format, they will be unable to submit the form.
We only listed a few options you can use for your open text questions. Please refer to the table below for all the rules available.
