Could someone please explain something to me?
I have quit Onedrive for some time now, as I don’t need a ‘Backup’ I do my own regular Image backup to an External HDD.
But I notice that when you expand the Onedrive file (see attached photo) you seem to see that you have a duplicate of everything you have in your computer’s ‘Documents’ and ‘Pictures folders’. Is Onedrive storing a complete second copy of Documents and Pictures etc. using up double the space on your computer’s hard drive?

Command vs. Powershell
I think I mucked up some a setting related to Command/Powershell. Now if I run Command from the Start icon, I get a Command window – but if I pin it to the task bar, the next time I open from there, I get Powershell! How do I fix it so I get a Command box when I open it from the task bar – I already have a Powershell icon there.

Shutdown/restart screen is missing
Hello, my OS stopped to show shutdown/restart screen phase text (Restarting…/Shutting down…), there’s just blank black screen.
Since the system restarts/shuts down it may be a cosmetic issue but also can indicate something deeper is broken, so I’d prefer to have it fixed.
There’s no error messages or unusual behaviour otherwise, I’m having 23H2 updated to Moment 5 recently. Can I get some ideas what gone wrong?

Excel hyperlink default software to open FileName .pdf
A hyperlink to a “.pdf” type file is created in an excel cell.
Clicking on this hyperlink opens the file.
The problem is that the default software to do this is Adobe Acrobat not the default software I have set in my Settings > Apps > Default Apps.
It seems that Excel has a mind of its own when it comes to this function/action (Opening a Hyperlink to a “.pdf ” file elsewhere in the computer).
This is a new recent problem as for many years the default setting was always used.

How to Fix Quick_books won’t open on windows 10/11?
If Quick_Books won’t open on your Windows 10 or 11 computer, there could be various underlying issues. Here are steps to troubleshoot and resolve the problem:
1. Restart Your Computer
Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve many issues. Restart your computer and try opening Quick_Books again.
2. Run Quick_Books as Administrator

How do I download YouTube videos in laptop Windows 10
Hi, everyone, I have a headache right now, and I hope friends here can help me. I use a Windows 10 laptop, and recently I want to download YouTube videos to desktop computer, so that I can watch them when I don’t have an Internet connection. Whom to report when several days after a ‘file submission’ displayed status is ‘In progress’…
Hello all,
could anyone be so kind to tell me whom should I report these issues to, when :
– after several days (since submission took place on June 29, 2024) reported Status for same below mentioned ‘Submission ID’ is still displayed as ‘In progress’ ?
– no details for an already Submitted ‘File submission’ are available (because after clicking on ‘ 90d794a0-3a0d-4bc2-9d8f-2169d477fb30‘ only this error message is shown ‘The details for the submission were not found or the submission has expired. You can view recent items in your submission history.‘) ?
P.S. If I’d rather (better) submit this post/question into another Discussion Space then please just let me know ASAP.

Can’t select multiple items with ctrl-click
Hi,
MS has changed mouse behavior in New Outlook. This seems an unusual move because PC users generally know how to use their keyboard and mouse – and have done for ~40 years. ctrl – left-click has, as long as I can remember, always enabled the user to select multiple items – text, files etc. But in New Outlook (not other MS programs) this has been disabled. This is a fundamental GUI operation. I can only imagine that the developer responsible has not been using PCs very much (or very long). Perhaps they are only accustomed to touch screens and / or are a very young child?
The mouse behavior has also been changed for activating pop-up options, namely spell-check, which is now left-click (was right click). This means that roughly 2 billion users accustomed to spell checking / using pop-up edit menus now have the inconvenience of learning a new and pointless set of operations (Incidentally, the old operation of left click – delete, to enter a word and change a character, not archives the email!).
In conclusion, I think MS should admit this was a mistake and put back the conventional controls. And probably re-assign those employees (or creche residents) responsible. Despite what many people think, I do no believe MS is in the business of deliberately annoying their customers.
Finally – when I tried to find out where to raise this as an issue / bug, I found there is not longer any online way to do this and there are only various software tools to try to fix issues yourself. Since this fits best into the category of feedback / bug repot, I really think MS should reinstate such online services.

Using Reporting Services (project), I am able Create and Run reports. But I cannot deploy the project. (target report selected in properties)
I am hoping to deploy the report (report project) from my Startup project inside my projects Solution. However, when I deploy the project from Solution Explorer, it shows username and password dialog box, that I never entered during SQL installation setup. (does not work when entered)
So I tried to run reports using ReportViewer, which I know to run *.rdlc reports by default. Information that I read online says that ReportViewer will NOT run *.rdl files. However, I am okay with using ReportViewer with *.rdl reports, if possible.
All help and guidance appreciated in advance,

Feedback: Please Include Customer Identifying Info In Booking Email
The emails we get from the Bookings have no customer identifying info.
It has their name, assigned staff member, and the date & time etc., but that’s it.
So we have to go in to Bookings just to get their email*, copy it, and manually paste it elsewhere (Freshdesk).
It’s such a waste of time for something that should be included.
Please consider adding it as an option!
(*Sometimes we use their mobile if we can’t find customer using their email.)

SharePoint Global Navigation Blank
I am struggling with getting the Global navigation working, not sure if I am doing something wrong or if it’s a timing issue?
I have read many MS and other pages and videos on Navigation and hub sites and think I understand it a bit but clearly, I am missing something.
Steps Taken
Via SharePoint Admin & Site Settings & PowerShell
Created a Comm site (HomeSite)Set as the Home site, via PS [Set-SPOHomeSite -HomeSiteUrl https://…]Registered the HomeSite to a Hub siteChanged the “look and feel” on the HomeSite, eg theme colors, layoutThe Global Navigation link is shown under the site’s Settings menu with;Enable global nav “On” changed custom logo for visual testing (and is shown on all pages now)Confirmed Hub Settings is “Shown in navigation”Associated another site (Site2), with the HomeSite Created two more Comms sites (HrDeptHub) & (Onboarding)Associated Onboarding to the HrDeptHub siteAdded a parent association to the HrDeptHub to the HomeSiteasdf
But in the end, I am not seeing any menu changes (horizontal page menus on the Comms site) and the Global Navigation is empty. I am logged into the site as the Site Owner and have a test user with basic permissions only.
Oddly the Theme settings/colors on the HomeSite (hub) are not propagating to the associated sites. In another test with 2 brand new sites (CommSite1 hub) & (Teamsite1), branding/colors are enforced on the associated TeamSite1. But I the Global Nav is empty, and the top Hub navigation (horizontal) only shows items from the site itself.

SharePoint form “Edit Columns” with “Conditional Formula” and available field properties
I am trying to find out where I can find a complete list of the available “properties” of a column, so I don’t have to continually ask in a forum.
For example, I am trying to set a “conditional formula” to show a column on the default New Experience forms when the current user a specific person (people column-single input).
eg
=if([$CurrentUser.email] == ‘name @ domain dot com’, ‘true’, ‘false’)
What are the right properties and where can I find the list for this or any column for that matter, so can learn to solve these questions on my own.
AND
Similarly the correct syntax/properties to use for say a people column, MS help shows this,
=if([$Owner.email] == ‘name @ domain dot com’, ‘true’, ‘false’)
I assume “Owner.email” is the created by person’s email but that is not working when I change it to local user/email.

Data Retention, Compliance, and Litigation Holds
We recently revamped our data retention policies and now I need to set up everything in M365. In the past, we would enable litigation hold under the user’s account. Since that only does email, that is not enough.
We are now drastically shortening our retention policy and it’s critical that all data for a user is accessible if they were brought into a litigation issue. So if we were subpoenaed, I would “freeze” the users data and then it would be possible to search if we were required 1/2/3 months down the road. Is the best way to do this by starting an eDiscovery search and placing everything on hold but not searching for anything? Then, if we were required to search the account, I would edit that eDiscovery hold to include specific queries? Or maybe I would create a “Litigation Hold” retention policy outside of the new default one that would hold their data indefinitely? That seems like a pain to exclude the user and then add them to the other and probably not efficient.

Sorting on multiples in same column
Hi there – Cannot figure this out. I have a list of items in a column as follows:
5″ White
5″ Red
5″ Blue
11″ White
11″ Red
11″ Blue
17″ White
17″ Red
17″ Blue
There are several more sizes but I need to sort this sheet so that the colors fall in order and the sizes order as 11, 17, 5.

And so on. The colors are in a specific order not based on alphabet.
