Microsoft For iOS App protection policies
Hi All,
I think I know the answer but need to check.
BYOD iOS Mobile Devices
Microsoft For iOS App protection policies only apply to MS apps download from the Company Portal?
So if Outlook wasn’t downloaded from the Company Portal then the policy doesn’t apply, correct?
I have a user that has 3 iOS devices with an Outlook issue, two devices haven’t installed Outlook via the Company Portal and one devices has.
I suspect they have download the Office365 app via the iOS store (which I have no management of) but the user is pointing the finger at Intune’s policy being the issue, but so far only one one person effected.
Fingers crossed for a quick reply
Cheers

How to Bypass Administrator Password on Windows 10/11?
Troubleshooting Solutions: Bypass Administrator Password
Forgetting your Windows administrator password can be frustrating, but there are several methods you can try to regain access to your computer without reinstalling the operating system or losing data. Here are some troubleshooting solutions:
Password Reset Disk: If you had the foresight to create a password reset disk beforehand, you’re in luck. Insert the reset disk into your computer and follow the prompts to reset your administrator password. This method is straightforward and doesn’t require any technical expertise.
Safe Mode: Boot your computer into Safe Mode by pressing F8 or Shift + F8 during startup. Once in Safe Mode, you may be able to access the built-in Administrator account, which often doesn’t have a password set by default. From there, you can change your main administrator account password in the Control Panel.
Command Prompt: If you can access the Command Prompt at the login screen (by pressing Shift + F10), you can reset the administrator password using the “net user” command. Type “net user [username] [newpassword]” (replace [username] with your account’s username and [newpassword] with your desired new password) and press Enter. Restart your computer and log in with the new password.
Third-Party Password Reset Tools: There are several third-party tools available, such as Ophcrack and Offline NT Password & Registry Editor, which can help you reset your administrator password. These tools often work by bypassing or resetting the Windows password hashes, allowing you to regain access to your account.
Microsoft Account Password Reset: If your Windows 10/11 account is linked to a Microsoft account, you can reset your Microsoft account password online. Go to the Microsoft account recovery page on another device, follow the instructions to reset your password, and then use the new password to log in to your computer.
Remember to choose a method that suits your technical expertise and preferences. While these methods can help you regain access to your computer, it’s essential to use them responsibly and only on computers you own or have permission to access.

What should I do to recover deleted contacts?
Troubleshooting Solutions: Recover deleted contacts
Losing contacts can be distressing, but there are several methods you can try to recover them, even without a backup.
Check Google Contacts Sync: If your contacts were synced with your Google account, they might still be recoverable. Go to the Google Contacts website on a computer browser and sign in with the same Google account you use on your Android device. Check if your deleted contacts are listed in the “Trash” or “Recently deleted” section. You can restore them from there.
Utilize Local Backup (if available): Some Android devices offer the option to create local backups of contacts. Check if your phone has a “Contacts” or “People” app with a backup feature. If you find a backup option, you may be able to restore your contacts from a recent backup stored on your device.
Use Third-Party Recovery Tools: There are various third-party apps available on the Google Play Store that claim to recover deleted contacts. Install a reputable one with positive reviews and follow the instructions carefully. These apps may scan your device’s storage for deleted data and attempt to recover lost contacts.
Contact Your Service Provider: Some mobile service providers offer contact recovery services. Contact your service provider’s customer support and inquire if they can assist you in recovering your deleted contacts.
Explore Device Settings: Check your phone’s settings for any built-in options to recover deleted data. Some Android devices have a “Recycle Bin” feature that temporarily stores deleted items, including contacts. Look for this option in your device’s settings menu.
Consider Professional Assistance: If all else fails, you may need to seek professional help from data recovery specialists. They have advanced tools and techniques to retrieve deleted data from Android devices. However, professional services may come with a cost.
Remember, it’s crucial to act quickly to increase the chances of successful recovery. Avoid adding or deleting any more data on your device until you’ve attempted the recovery process, as new data may overwrite the deleted contacts, making them irretrievable.

Assigned to automation?
Hello
I have ran into an issue with my defender logs.
Since march 13th i stopped seeing incidents being assigned to automation in my log management tool.
We are using Splunk to get an overview for how many incidents the AiR is handling, but since march 13th it seems that incidents are no longer getting assigned to automation.
In the picture below you can see that a high volume of incidents are getting “null” as the value of assigned to, which i believe to be what should have been assigned to “Automation”
Is there anyone with similar issues or knows what the reason could be?

Conditional filling of a cell
This is not conditional formatting. I would like to ask for advice:
I have two cells and I need to insert a function into another cell that automatically fills in predefined text depending on whether both cells meet a certain condition and another text depending on whether only one of the cells meets a certain condition.
An example: If both cells contain YES, then the amount 5,000 will appear in the third cell, however, if only one cell contains YES and one contains NO, then only 3,000 will appear in the third cell.
Thank you very much for advice!

How to do I get the standard deviation from an eeg input signal in SImulink?
Hello I’m trying to make a function block that calculates standard deviation of the signal, as the standard deviation blocks do not give me the standard deviation of the SIMULINK signal (they either give me 0 or say it needs discrete values). However that doesnt work either, is there a way for me to get the standard deviationl? I want to equal the signal to 0 if the sdv is higher than a certain value.
I’ve tried the following but it isn’t working.
function y = fcn(u)

y = std(u)

Best way to do CIAM?
Hi,
we would like to test/use Entra as an IDP for external users. In our case that are customers and sales partners needing access (authentication) with different roles (autorisation) to different webservices. Customers and partners are all defined within Business Central (Dynamics 365). A classical CIAM usecase, I guess 🙂
We are kind a confused what’s the best way to achieve this through Entra. May be someone can help here and give some content to our 3 (?) possible ways to do this.
1. Entra External Identities with App registrations
There’s a menu within Entra -> Identity -> External identities. Combined with Application registration. I guess Entra security groups will come along for defining the different roles here?
There is that YT where MS chooses this way https://youtu.be/ZxHnv7OTzXI?si=9ZC4UiIgg757VJAW
For now we use that for our guest users only, which are more internal users than externals.
2. B2C Tenant
There is also a way to create B2C Tenant through an Azure Service. Things are similiar to (1) but also different coming to the details.
https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/active-directory-b2c/tutorial-create-tenant
3. External ID Tentant
And there is “External ID” which seems to be like (2) but also “better” (in MS marketing speech). Is this just the new way to do (2) or really something new? Not really looked into this. It seems that you create that tenant through Entra and not through Azure like (2).
https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/entra/external-id/customers/how-to-create-external-tenant-portal
Besides my confusion about naming and presenting “hundreds of ways” (documentations) to solve our CIAM issue. What’s your recommendation? Are there any differences with the “50k MAU” rules for licensing?

Display script comment as contents in MATLAB “Script Editor”, instead of “Current Folder” script overview
The purpose is to view, check, click and link to script lines, with comment label by %%.
In "Current Folder", when a *.m script file is selected, this overview shown on the bottom of the current folder view section realizes what I need. I call the comments labeled by %% as "key comments".
But whenever I have some changes, and save the script, this key comments overview is refreshed and jumped back to the top. This becomes inconvenience when I have a lot of key comments, and when I am editing bottom part of my script. Every time I save the script, the overview jumps back to top, and I have to scroll down and look for my editing part labeled by the corresponding key comment.
I am guessing this overview in the current folder section was not primarily deisgned for my usage case. Is there an alternative way to show and linked to the key comments in my script?

Responsible AI terms acceptance
Why accept Responsible AI terms? – AI systems involve technology, users, impacts, and deployment context. Crafting effective systems requires understanding technology, capabilities, and context. Microsoft’s Transparency Notes clarify our AI’s workings, choices, and holistic perspective. They aid in system development, deployment, and communication.
In addition to the Transparency Note, Microsoft offer guidance and resources for responsibly utilizing Azure OpenAI models, aligning with the Microsoft Responsible AI Standard followed by the engineering teams.
Roles to Accept terms – Azure account must have a Cognitive Services Contributor role assigned in order for you to agree to the responsible AI terms and create a resource.
How to Execute? – If you’re planning to use Spatial Analysis in Azure AI Vision or Text Analytics for Health in Azure AI Language, then you must create your first Vision or Language resources from the Azure portal so you can review and acknowledge the terms and conditions. Below are few examples of that.

Limited Access Features for Azure AI Services
Why Limited Access? – Microsoft vision is to empower developers and organizations to use AI to transform society in positive ways. We encourage responsible AI practices to protect the rights and safety of individuals. To achieve this, Microsoft has implemented a Limited Access policy grounded in our AI Principles to support responsible deployment of Azure services.
How to Access Limited Features? – Limited Access services require registration, and only customers managed by Microsoft—meaning those who are working directly with Microsoft account teams—are eligible for access.
The use of these services is limited to the use case selected at the time of registration. Customers must acknowledge that they’ve reviewed and agree to the terms of service. Microsoft may require customers to reverify this information.
The following Azure AI services have Limited Access:

Cognitive Account Purge
Once you delete a Cognitive Account, you won’t be able to create another one with the same name for 48 hours. To create a resource with the same name, you need to purge the deleted resource.
You must have necessary permissions to purge a resource. The least permission a subscription must have – Microsoft.CognitiveServices/locations/resourceGroups/deletedAccounts/delete to purge resources, such as Cognitive Services Contributor or Contributor.
When using Contributor to purge a resource the role must be assigned at the subscription level. If the role assignment is only present at the resource or resource group level, you can’t access the purge functionality.

Is there a way to use fill with animatedline?
I’m generating animations consisiting of various closed curves (tiles) moving about each other. I’m presently using animated line to accomplish this, but I would like to try using diffeerent colors for the individual tiles. I cannot find any way to fill them in the context of the animated line, so I’m asking if it’s possible.I’m generating animations consisiting of various closed curves (tiles) moving about each other. How can I convert MRB to GPT during windows 11 installation?
I’m in the process of installing Windows 11 but have run into an issue with my hard drive’s partition style. My drive is currently formatted with MBR (Master Boot Record), and I need to convert it to GPT (GUID Partition Table) to proceed with the Windows 11 installation. I want to ensure that I don’t lose any data in the process. Does anyone have a reliable method or any tips on how to convert my hard drive from MBR to GPT during the Windows 11 installation, I would really appreciate your guidance.

Shared Mailbox – best practice / delegation / helpdesk / owner
Hi everyone,
we are searching for “the” solution to manage our shared mailboxes. Although we are trying to get people to use Teams or other “new stuff”, but ppl stick with the things they know.
Our (IT) goal is:
After creation of a cloud shared mailbox the “owner” of this mailbox can handle the permission themselves OR each helpdesk user can add users
Automapping is working (no must)
Access reviews are easy to do
Categories / Out of Office can be set by the members of the SMB (which might kill automapping ;))
Anyone accomplished this (or better) and can send us in the right direction?
3rd party tools or PowerAutomate/PowerApp can also be a solution
BR
Stephan
