How does MATLAB downsample the output of the linear equalizer in a fractional comm.LinearEqualizer?
The documentation for the comm.LinearEqualizer explains that for fractionally spaced equalizers, where the sample rate of the input to the equalizer is an integer multiple of the symbol rate, the output of the equalizer has one sample per symbol. This seems to indicate that the equalizer is performing some sort of downsampling. How does this work?
If I take the final equalizer tap weights ("weights") and convolve them with the input to the equalizer, which is called "Data":
eq = comm.LinearEqualizer;
[FFEout,~,weights] = step(eq,Data,TrainingSequence);
FIRout = conv(Data,conj(weights),’same’);
I would expect the output of the convolution to be equal to an interpolated (upsampled). In other words, "FFEout" should be a downsampled version of "FIRout". However, this is not the case, as can be seen in the below plot; the signal is QPSK modulated, so the exact values for the I and Q channels are either +1 or -1.
The plot shows that the equalizer is working as expected (FFEout lines up nicely with the exact data). However, the fact that convolving the signal with the filter tap weights does not seem to correspond to the output of the equalizer has me confused, since the equalizer is just performing a convolution with optimized tap weights. Does MATLAB do something fancier than simple downsampling to obtain the output symbols from the equalizer?The documentation for the comm.LinearEqualizer explains that for fractionally spaced equalizers, where the sample rate of the input to the equalizer is an integer multiple of the symbol rate, the output of the equalizer has one sample per symbol. How to convert table variable to datetime and adjust timezone?
Hi there! I have a table that reads a csv file for which column A is "Time" and is in posix-millisec format. I would like to convert the values to dd-mm-yyyy format and then convert values into the time zone which the data were taken. I would like these newly formatted versions of the values to replace the originals in my table. Here is what I have put together so far.
My Table is name "T":
The following line works fine and the resultant dates are at UTC time:
T.Time = datetime(T.Time,’ConvertFrom’,’epochtime’,’TicksPerSecond’,1e3,’Format’,’dd-MMM-yyyy HH:mm:ss.SSS’)
The following line appears to work, but I am not sure how to check, and I think tells Matlab that the table variable Time is in UTC timezone so that it can be converted with subsequent commands.
T.Time = datetime(T.Time, "TimeZone","UTC")
This is where I get lost: How can I convert all of the values in T.Time to be in ‘America/New_York’ timezone so that when I plot T.Time vs <Stuff> my time axis reads in New York time?
I tried the following but it throws an error "Error using . To assign to or create a variable in a table, the number of rows must match the height of the table."
T.Time = ‘America/New_York’

MATLAB App Designer – Reading Data
Hi, I’m back. This is quite a long question so I’ll try my best and include as much info as I can to get the question across. In a Matlab script, I have the matrix final_unshuffled has an order, with easy being the first row, medium being the second row, hard being the third row, and expert being the fourth. I have another matrix called FINAL_Shuffled_Columns which is ‘imported’ or ‘read’ (I’m not sure what the technical term is) which is read by an app I have which uses a .Text command to replace the button names with the string names of FINAL_Shuffled_Columns, See Below:
%NB: This is under my Start-Up Function:
function StartUp(app)
MATRIX_VALUES();
mybuttons = [app.Button1,app.Button2,app.Button3,app.Button4,…
app.Button5,app.Button6,app.Button7,app.Button8,…
app.Button9,app.Button10,app.Button11,app.Button12,…
app.Button13,app.Button14,app.Button15,app.Button16];
str = string(FINAL_Shuffled_Columns);
for i = 1:numel(mybuttons)
mybuttons(i).Text = str(i);
end
end
Later on in the code, I want to reference another matrix from the same script called final_unshuffled (See below). However, when I try to run this I get an error saying I have to explicity initialize finalUnshuffled, which means rowAsStrings doesn’t get recognized correctly. I don’t understand because both FINAL_Shuffled_Columns and final_unshuffled are in the same file? So how could one get read but the other one, not? I tried adding final_unshuffled as a property as well and that didn’t work.

function handle with input parameters
I need to invoke the ‘eigs’ function to calculate the lowest eigenvalue of a hermitian matrix, which I do not construct explicitly. I thus use a function handle to realize the action of the matrix on a vector. My code is like this
[evector, evalue]=eigs(@fun_Htimesx, dim, 1,’smallestreal’);
In the function ‘fun_Htimesx’, I have
function y = fun_Htimesx(x)
global H transx_many transy_many qx qy Lx Ly
That is, the hermitian matirx ‘H’ and many other parameters are set as global variables so that I do not need to pass them to the function handle.

Rules – Outlook Desktop
I have recently added a Web based email provider but still want to use Outlook (2019) as my front end. At present I created a new Profile for the IMAP based account but still want to access my existing POP3 based account until all contacts have updated to my new email address.
My issue is with Rules in that I assumed that Rules would be applied at the Account level but that appears not to be the case as they seem to be applied at the Profile level. Based on advice from another thread I then added the condition “message has arrived through the ********* Account” to one of my rules as a test. However, when checking the Rule in the other Account I find that the same Account reference has also been applied in that Account which is clearly not what I want to happen.
This leads me to think that the Rules are applied at Profile level and not at Account level despite A different account being specified in the Rule settings.
Has anyone a similar experience or suggested solutions?

Need help simplifying my nested IF formula
So I have been tracking my progress in transcribing classical music pieces by using nested IF statements to determine whether a multi-part piece is partly or completely done from inputs in the individual parts. For something like a 4 movement symphony or sonata, that nested IF statement looks like so:
=IF(E13=”Partly”,”Partly”,IF(E13=”Yes”,IF(E14=”Yes”,IF(E15=”Yes”,IF(E16=”Yes”,”Yes”,”Partly”),”Partly”),”Partly”),”No”))
And the results:
All movements cells set to the value of No = No in full piece cell
Partly in first movement cell = Partly in full piece cell
Any movement cells from the first to the second to last set to Yes +/- last movement set to Partly = Partly in full piece cell
All movement cells set to Yes = Yes in full piece cell
Not too bad. But what if I’m dealing with pieces/piece sets that have many many parts to them? Like say a set of 25 folk songs? Well now the nested IF formula looks like this:
=IF(E663=”Partly”,”Partly”,IF(E663=”Yes”,IF(E664=”Yes”,IF(E665=”Yes”,IF(E666=”Yes”,IF(E667=”Yes”,IF(E668=”Yes”,IF(E669=”Yes”,IF(E670=”Yes”,IF(E671=”Yes”,IF(E672=”Yes”,IF(E673=”Yes”,IF(E674=”Yes”,IF(E675=”Yes”,IF(E676=”Yes”,IF(E677=”Yes”,IF(E678=”Yes”,IF(E679=”Yes”,IF(E680=”Yes”,IF(E681=”Yes”,IF(E682=”Yes”,IF(E683=”Yes”,IF(E684=”Yes”,IF(E685=”Yes”,IF(E686=”Yes”,IF(E687=”Yes”,”Yes”,”Partly”),”Partly”),”Partly”),”Partly”),”Partly”),”Partly”),”Partly”),”Partly”),”Partly”),”Partly”),”Partly”),”Partly”),”Partly”),”Partly”),”Partly”),”Partly”),”Partly”),”Partly”),”Partly”),),”Partly”),”Partly”),”Partly”),”Partly”),”No”))
And with operas, it gets even worse cause I have multiple levels of these nested IF formulas like so:
Full Opera Level, Nested IF formula includes Overture and individual acts:
=IF(F2506=”Partly”,”Partly”,IF(F2506=”Yes”,IF(F2507=”Yes”,IF(F2532=”Yes”,IF(F2553=”Yes”,IF(F2580=”Yes”,IF(F2603=”Yes”,”Yes”,”Partly”),”Partly”),”Partly”),”Partly”),”Partly”),”No”))
Act Level, Nested IF formula includes individual scenes:
=IF(F2508=”Partly”,”Partly”,IF(F2508=”Yes”,IF(F2512=”Yes”,IF(F2515=”Yes”,IF(F2518=”Yes”,IF(F2521=”Yes”,IF(F2524=”Yes”,IF(F2528=”Yes”,”Yes”,”Partly”),”Partly”),”Partly”),”Partly”),”Partly”),”Partly”),”No”))
Scene Level, Nested IF formula includes individual sections within, very comparable to the symphony/sonata example I mentioned before.
Is there any way to simplify this down while still keeping the changes that result for each piece/piece set/opera level as I complete the individual movements/pieces/opera sections?
So I have been tracking my progress in transcribing classical music pieces by using nested IF statements to determine whether a multi-part piece is partly or completely done from inputs in the individual parts. For something like a 4 movement symphony or sonata, that nested IF statement looks like so:=IF(E13=”Partly”,”Partly”,IF(E13=”Yes”,IF(E14=”Yes”,IF(E15=”Yes”,IF(E16=”Yes”,”Yes”,”Partly”),”Partly”),”Partly”),”No”))And the results:All movements cells set to the value of No = No in full piece cellPartly in first movement cell = Partly in full piece cellAny movement cells from the first to the second to last set to Yes +/- last movement set to Partly = Partly in full piece cellAll movement cells set to Yes = Yes in full piece cellNot too bad. But what if I’m dealing with pieces/piece sets that have many many parts to them? Like say a set of 25 folk songs? Boundary conditions in pdepe for 1D parabolic velocity profile

Unable to resolve the name ‘half.typecast’
Hi guys,
I’m trying to understand the following line of code, where data is a 4D array of type uint16.
data_single = single(half.typecast(data));
I tried to digest the line by doing the following
B=half.typecast(data);
,but I’m getting the following error

My problem is not with the single part, but with half.typecast() part. Any feedback will be appreciated.Hi guys,

exploring options for virtual desktops for my team
Hello, I oversee a team of 4 members primarily based offshore. I aim to grant them access to our browser-based application, which currently imposes restrictions based on region. They access the application by remotely connecting to my laptops using software like Anydesk or TeamViewer. Subsequently, they utilize browsers to carry out their tasks. I’m exploring alternatives to bypass the necessity of using my laptops and provide them with access via a virtual machine hosted on platforms like AWS or Microsoft’s solutions, among others. As this area is unfamiliar, I seek guidance on determining the most cost-effective solution and its pros and cons. Thank you. Read More
Forms Feature Request – Response link copyable
We have a form set up to collect and monitor some “issues”. When I get a response, there’s a button with a link to “Go to comment”.
PROBLEM: I don’t use my default browser for office365. I can’t find a way to get the url without having to log into office/sharepoint/forms in my default browser. I can Open Hyperlink, but can’t Copy Hyperlink.
I noticed the headers and <a href> tags differ between the 2 email sources. I “withheld” the url for privacy, though you shouldn’t be able to access it if I didn’t.
REQUEST: Can we get the hyperlink in the Go to comment link automatically generated by forms to allow Copy Hyperlink?
Interestingly, I replied to the email instead of trying to get the url opened. In the response from the sender, if I scroll down to the bottom of the email, I’m able to Copy the Hyperlink!

Formula Assistance
Hi there
I would be grateful for some help with creating a formula please. I’ve attached a screenshot below.
I have a spreadsheet where staff enter each new job as it comes into the office. I want the cells in the Date Required column to automatically fill themselves as the staff member enters a date in the Date Received column. The date to automatically fill should be 14 days after the date entered in the Date Received column.
THEN we would like to quickly see which jobs in the Date Required column are about to come due. To do this we would like see the cell which is displaying a date within 2 days of todays date to turn red (background colour of the cell not the letters) unless the word ‘Completed’ is written in the Job Status column.
I trust this makes sense and hope someone can help me.
Thank you very much.
Kim

Unable to Sign in to Azure Portal
Hi team,
I am unable to sign in to Azure Portal. I am on a free trial on azure and have running VMs that I need to deallocate. It never used to ask me verification email this time and when I put the right verification email I do not receive a security code there in the recovery email. I am able to login to my Hotmail which does not ask me for verification email. I am also sure that the verification email matches the one I put. Please someone from the team help me resolve this issue.
