I keep Word templates for projects in the relevant SharePoint sites so that all users have access to them (i.e. the document stays linked to the relevant template). I edit them from time to time, which was easy up until this morning, where now instead of the template opening when I click on it, I get a “Document 1” new document.

How am I supposed to open the template itself now?

I know I can sync the library and edit the template that way, however I often run into syncing issues as the template often ends up “in use” when people have a document attached to it open.
