Pivot Tables in Word for Mac
My very complex investment spreadsheet, which used lots of pivot tables, no longer works and the file is said to be corrupted and won’t open. In terms of design I have a master table (showing entries for stock purchases) from which the pivot tables take and show the data. The master table has about 30 columns, and around 3500 entries to date (I buy little and often). It uses lots of formulas, including things like Stockhistory. So it is a pretty complex table, but up until now I’ve had no real problems and it only takes a few seconds to refresh the data.
I’ve tried restoring previous versions but that doesn’t work. So I started a new spreadsheet. I put just 10 lines of data into my master table and set up a couple of pivot tables (writing things from new, rather than copying directly from the old spreadsheet). Excel was unable even to handle that. After I saved the document and reopened it I got an error message. It was able to open the document, but the data in the pivot table was fixed/static and the pivot table element itself had been removed.
Has some update to excel for Mac completely screwed pivot tables? Or what else might explain this?
Thanks in advance.
