Save as PDF command to create PDF’s which retain high resolution JPG’s or PNG’s
It is possible to use the File… Save as PDF command to create PDF’s with high res JPG’s or PNG’s in place without the resolution being downgraded?
I have created sample files with resolutions of 200, 300 and 600 ppi which are successfully stored in the Word file.
I’m aware of options to export via the print dialogue, PDF maker, third party apps etc. I’m specifcally referring to the File, Save as PDF option.
I have set the output to Standard (publishing and printing), PDF/A compliance is turned OFF and Optimize for Image quality set ON. The Tools compress dialogue is set to use default resolution although I have tried High Fidelity. The file options Advanced dialogue for Image quality and size has been variously set to High Fidelity or 330 and the Do not compress images set to ON.
I undertand the EMF / WMF / SVG, etc could be used but the requirements are that the Save as PDF option is the one that must be used and JPEG’s and PNG’S used for pictures and graphics. From tests this simply doesn’t seem to work and the Word dialogue options do not significantly affect the output quality of the images. Can anyone confirm that these options do not work and if that’s the case why they don’t work and the point of including them if they don’t?
Cheers
Brad
