The Rising Significance of APIs – Azure API Management & API Center
As we venture deeper into the digital era, APIs (Application Programming Interfaces) have become the cornerstone of modern software development and digital communication. APIs continue to be pivotal, acting as the conduits through which different systems, applications, and devices interact and exchange data. This growing reliance on APIs is reflected in the investment trends, with a significant 92% of global respondents indicating that investments in APIs will either remain steady or increase over the next year (2023 State of the API Report, Postman, 2023). Recognizing the critical role that APIs play in modern software architecture, Microsoft has been consistently investing in and expanding its API suite to fulfill diverse needs. Managing APIs is not a one-size-fits-all solution with different API ecosystems requiring different API management approaches and tools. Azure API Center, a new API Azure service, was recently announced General Availability (GA). Azure API Center is engineered to function independently, yet it seamlessly integrates with Azure API Management, providing customers options to manage various aspects of their API ecosystem.
Azure API Management: Your Gateway to Digital Transformation
Azure API Management (APIM) is a managed cloud service designed to streamline and secure the use of APIs. API Management acts as a secure front door to facilitate, manage, and analyze the interactions between an organization’s APIs and their users with some of their core functionalities listed below:
API gateway – operational management: API Management acts as a gateway, managing API exposure, security, and analytics during runtime.
Traffic routing: Acts as a facade to backend services by accepting API calls and routing them to appropriate backends.
API access: Verifies API keys and other credentials such as JWT tokens and certificates presented with requests to access APIs published through an API Management instance.
Operational stability: API Management allows you to enforce usage quotas and rate limits to manage the flow of requests to your APIs effectively to prevent API overuse. It also validates requests and responses in compliance with the specification – e.g., JSON and XML validation, validation of headers and query params.
Request transformation: The rich policy engine of API Management allows you to modify incoming and outgoing requests to your needs with more than 60 built-in policies and the option to build your own custom policies.
API logging: API Management provides the capability to emit logs, metrics, and traces, which are essential for monitoring, reporting, and troubleshooting your APIs.
Self-hosted gateway: API Management also offers self-hosted gateway capabilities, a containerized version of the default managed gateway to place your gateways in the same environments where you host your APIs.
Developer Portal: API Management features a developer portal, which can be generated automatically and is a fully customizable website with the documentation of your APIs. It facilitates API discovery, testing, and consumption by internal and external developers.
Azure API Center: Your Inventory for API Lifecycle Management
API inventory management: API Center allows you to register all your organization’s APIs in a centralized inventory, regardless of their type, lifecycle stage, or deployment location, for better tracking and accessibility.
Tackling API sprawl: APIs’ runtime might be managed in multiple different API Management services, multiple different API gateways from different vendors, or are unmanaged at all. Azure API Center allows you to develop and maintain a structured API inventory.
Holistic API view: While API Management excels in runtime API mediation, its inventory management capabilities are limited to the types of APIs that are supported at runtime and to the versions that are actively managed in runtime. Azure API Center supports any kind of API types, such as AsyncAPIs, and you can easily track APIs across different deployment environments.
Real-world API representation: You can add detailed information about each API, including versions, definitions, custom metadata, and associate them with deployment environments (e.g. Dev, Test, Production).
API governance: Azure API Center provides tools to organize and filter APIs using metadata, set up linting and analysis to check API design consistency for better conformance on API style guidelines. Additionally, shift-left API compliance to API teams to ensure that developers can more productively and efficiently create compliant APIs.
API discovery and reuse: It enables internal developers and API program managers to discover APIs through the Azure portal, an API Center portal, and developer tools, including a Visual Studio Code extension.
Navigating Your API Ecosystem – Example Scenarios for Azure API Center and API Management
Azure API Management is geared towards runtime API governance and observability, focusing on the operational aspects of API management, such as securing, publishing, and analyzing APIs in use.
Azure API Center, in contrast, is tailored for design-time API governance, helping organizations to maintain a structured inventory of all APIs for better discovery and governance.
Note: The following scenarios are not mutually exclusive. They have been separated for better display and clarity.
Azure API Center and API Management Workspaces
Azure API Center will continue to improve the management of APIs across different API Managment services, as organizations…
have APIM services across environments, for example, dev, test, and prod.
have more than one production APIM service in their company.
have APIm platforms from multiple vendors.

Get attachments from list item
Hello,
We’ve been trying to get the attached files in list items using the API bellow:
https://graph.microsoft.com/v1.0/sites/{site-id}/lists/{list-id}/items/{item-id}
In the response, a “Attachments” field is present, but it only informs if the list contains file attached (true/false field), and no other information. We need to generate a download URL for these files.
Is there a way to get attached files information, such as download URL, from list items using the Graph API?
Thank you.

FORMULA Ranges keep changing even if I used a Named Range
I have been having issues with ranges changing even when they are fixed $A$7:$A$1600. So I created named ranges in the Name Manager. However, I am seeing those values change after releasing it to the business users.
I ultimately want to know how can I force these ranges to stay as they were designed?
The affected cell have #N/A in them because some of the ranges in the LET statement are different from others. Once they are re-aligned, then all is good.
Some examples:
These are how I set them up originally (exception is the fb_FamilyName where the it has a crazy value which was originally a PI_PackageEditable!$BK7. Not sure how that value go to be as big as it is. Given it is not fully locked down, I can see that it could change. The others however should not change but they do.
The way they were originally set up.
Added 5 rows and things changed.
And here is another that changed even though it has nothing to do with the worksheet I am working on
Here is an example of a formula making use of the named ranges. if one of the ranges moves out of synch with the others, then the cell shows a #N/A.
=LET(
centreBalloon, FILTER(pipkg_LongDesc_Rng, (pipkg_RecordType_Rng=”COMPONENT”)*(pipkg_PCODE_Rng=$D7), “”),
firstComponentRow, MATCH(1, (INDEX(centreBalloon,,1)=”COMPONENT”)*(INDEX(centreBalloon,,8)<>”COUPON_ADDON”), 0),
centreBalloonDesc, INDEX(centreBalloon, firstComponentRow, 11),
primeText, PROPER(centreBalloonDesc)&” Bouquet with “&”[COLOUR] [SIZE] [TYPE] Balloons – “,
pieceCount, SUMPRODUCT((INDEX(centreBalloon,,1)=”COMPONENT”)*(INDEX(centreBalloon,,8)<>”COUPON_ADDON”)*(INDEX(centreBalloon,,7))),
CONCAT(primeText, pieceCount, “pc”)
)

Rolling 365 Calculation Glitch
Hi
I am trying to track days within certain countries for tax purposes using a rolling 365 calculation. I’ve followed tips from other posts but cannot get the formulas to work. Here are the specifics:
Column A is DATE going back to January 2016 Column B is COL for Colombia and has a value of 1.0 if I was in the country and 0 if I was outside the countryColumn C is USA and has a value of 1.0 if I was in the country and 0 if I was outside the countryColumn D is titled Total COL/365 and has a rolling 365 calculation formula that failsColumn E is Total USA/365 and has a rolling 365 calculation formula that fails
I am placing the first rolling 365 calculation formulas in Columns D & E on January 1, 2017 so as to allow 365 days to have elapsed. I know from using COUNT, that I was in Colombia 95 days in 2016 and 271 days in the USA.
The formulas I am using are:
=SUMIF(Date,”>=”&TODAY-365,CoL)=SUMIF(Date,”>=”&TODAY-365,USA)
In an ideal world, I want to copy the formula down and calculate the rolling 365 total for both countries through 2023 as I have the data.
Any thoughts will be greatly appreciated!
Thank you
Seth

I’m Having Issues with my Excel in formatting charts and changing data of charts
Hello Tech Community, I’m new because Microsoft support team suggested me to come here and ask all the doubts and get them cleared.
I’m Using the Excel LTSC version, in that when I created a dashboard for practice purpose, I wasn’t able to change the data of a chart, and I’m not able to format charts(paste special isn’t working),because of this I had to create same charts with colour code and size dimension and everything again and again manually which was a huge pain.
so I asked chatgpt and tried almost all methods except reinstallation, after nothing works, I’ve reinstalled also, still no use.
even my mentor also don’t know what to do.
it doesn’t have to do anything ‘protected sheet/workbook’
because I’ve tried that also.
From the main data set in sheet 1 I created pivot tables in a separate sheet (sheet 2), from that I created charts in another separate sheet (sheet 3 – Dashboard), and when I tried to change the data of a chart – not working, when I try to copy the style I created in a chart to another similar type chart – not working(paste special isn’t working).
so Excel specialists, Please Help me.

Import yaml from Github to Sentinel
Does anyone know how to create Sentinel custom alerts for the IOCs from Github repos such as this one?
https://github.com/magicsword-io/LOLDrivers/blob/main/detections/sigma/driver_load_win_mal_drivers.yml
I want to import yaml rule but would like to keep it up to date with the Github changes to the rule.
MSFT themselves have so many queries in their Github repo, I was wondering whether there’s a best way to import/integrate them to MSFT solutions.

Fear Less, Create More
Using AI tools like Copilot for creating learning courses may raise some issues for instructional designers. However, I do not share these concerns, but they exist.
AI has a potential to change the way instructional design is done by automating tasks like instructional design, graphic design, and accessibility, which rely on AI’s ability to find relevant content.
Some instructional designers are not happy with the features that Copilot offers right now, feeling that they are not enough to help them in their work. I find it very useful in the development stages of content creation because of some of Copilot’s features.
Some of the problems reported by developers are in answers and limitations when using sheets that do not work well with Copilot’s features. I think there are some solutions, but Copilot is always improving.
AI-generated content may be inaccurate or irrelevant, which affects the quality of training materials. I have this concern too, so I use Copilot as a helper tool, and I always review their suggestions for accuracy.
There may be worries about the honesty of AI-generated content, especially if students plagiarize or cheat with it. My wife is a teacher and has seen this problem when grading papers. She uses software that can spot plagiarism. It’s how we adapt to the times.
These fears show the need to evaluate AI-generated content critically and use AI tools that fit personal and organizational needs to make sure they improve and support the instructional design process rather than replace it.
I always welcome change, especially in technology. I think we shouldn’t be afraid of Copilot or any AI tool that helps us. I use Copilot at least 5 times a day and it boosts my confidence and power. This is my final remark:
“The Only Thing We Have to Fear Is Fear Itself”

Toll-free pricing (before porting)
Hello
Please i need your help on this issue.
I would like to port over our toll-free number from Bell, but first I would like to understand the pricing on communication credits.
So once I port over my toll-free number from Bell, I’ll need to pay for communication credits, and then I’ll be able to start using it right away?
I need someone to make me understand this process
I believe I already have a license (i.e. I don’t think I need to buy a new one).
That said, if I go to add phone numbers (in MS Teams admin center), and try to add a Toll Free auto attendant, it says “You don’t have enough licenses to request more numbers of this type”.
In summary, I need to understand the following before I port over the number from our other provider:
1. Please which license I need, how to purchase it, and how much it costs monthly (CAD$).
I went to the “Billing” section of admin center, but didn’t find a place to “Add On Subscription”.
2. I don’t need this toll-free number for outbound calls. Only inbound
Therefore, how does this impact my need for communication credits? Are they required regardless?
