Help with Task Duration: Start Finish vs Actual Time worked.
Fairly New to MS Project. I am having a hard time understanding Start to Finish of a TASK vs Duration.
Example: Task was started on Oct 1st and finished on OCT 15th. The TIME it took the Resource person do actual do the task was about 2 hours of work…… BUT the task was not finished till 15 days after it started.
How do I set up this task to NOT measure the resources time spent as (360 Hrs), but still have it show on the GNATT that the task was started on OCT 1 and completed on OCT 15th.
FYI, I am trying to do this for ALL TASKS on my project.
Please Help.

Openstreet maps on azure websites
Hi,
I am at the beginning of starting my own project. I come from a database tech background and have not kept up to date with all the Web frameworks. The project will run on azure and I will use visual studio. I need to be able to access opensteet maps for mapping and coordinates. So what I need to do is go to open street maps. Click somewhere on the map and a special tag should come up which I am populating in c# based on coordinates and country.
I will to do the same on android, ios. Is xanarin my best option here?
So there is MVC, the new .net core, web forms, some other framework. I didn’t particularly like the .net core as there seems to be no designer with toolbox and components. Or do I use umbraco framework. I also saw a project called OSMsharp on github.
What .net tech should I go for as I have to use openstreetmap and no Google maps, am i limited by this?. Thank you!

What’s new in Microsoft Intune October 2024
The changing leaves and lengthening shadows on my side of the globe are harbingers of the winter to come and of ghosts, goblins, and other frights that are part of the Halloween celebration. Foremost among the things that scare me—and other IT professionals I know—are security breaches. We are almost a year into our Secure Future Initiative (read more about it in this article by Charlie Bell, Executive Vice President, Microsoft Security), and new Microsoft Intune features are oriented toward improving security. Below are some of the features on offer to help thwart hackers’ “tricks” and a “treat” to help keep the focus on fun when the work day is done.
Anti-spoofing updates for on-premises devices
Spoofing, the act of forging digital credentials to assume a false identity, has long been a strategy for bad actors trying to infiltrate systems. As part of the effort to combat certificate spoofing in on-premises environments, a May 10, 2022, security update, KB5014754 made changes to the Active Directory Kerberos Key Distribution Center (KDC), requiring “strong mapping” for all certificates. This required all Simple Certificate Enrollment Protocol (SCEP) certificates delivered through Intune and used for cert-based authentication against KDCs to have additional security identifier (SID) information embedded in the certificate that associates it with a device or user. Enforcement of this change is scheduled to begin February 2025. In this post, we detailed how Intune might address these new strong mapping requirements for comanaged devices. As a result of customer feedback, we elected to explore an alternate solution.
That solution arrives this month, in the form of support for an SID variable in SCEP profiles as part of the subject alternative name (SAN) value. This initial release supports Windows, iOS/iPadOS, and macOS devices, and we expect Android support to follow next month.
There is a lot of nuance and detail to this operation, and we recommend testing thoroughly before implementing broadly. Be sure to follow the Intune Customer Success blog for an upcoming in-depth article from our engineering partners.
Working time
With this month’s release, IT administrators can now configure notification muting and block access to the Microsoft Teams app for shift workers based on their working time status. This guards valuable time “off the clock” needed to rest and recharge, and it helps employers reduce their liability for notifications outside of working time. Note that the Working Time API must be integrated with your tenant before configuring this capability (or some users could lose access). Read more in the documentation.
Quiet time
When notifications are muted via Intune, which is indicated on the conversation, users will not get pop-up windows or notification badges on app icons. However, they will still be able to see sent messages if they open the app.
Blocking access
When access is blocked outside of working time, a user trying to open the app will get the message shown below when the app checks to see if they are clocked in.
Windows Autopilot device preparation ready for China
In China, Microsoft services including Intune are operated by 21Vianet, an independent data service provider. 21Vianet meets local requirements for secure, reliable, and scalable cloud services, which results in some feature differences for Intune. This month we’re introducing Windows Autopilot device preparation to this market. Prior to this release, devices had to be manually provisioned by IT departments. Now, with this release, the time required to get a new device prepared for end users will be reduced significantly, which will also improve user experience.
Let us know how Intune can help allay your fears as an IT pro. Add your comments, too, if you’re excited to implement these capabilities.

From Challenges to Triumph: The Judge Group’s AI Transformation with Microsoft 365 Copilot
Welcome back to Grow Your Business with Microsoft 365 Copilot, your monthly resource for actionable insights to harness the power of AI at small and medium sized businesses.
In today’s fast-paced small business environment, staying competitive means embracing innovative solutions that drive efficiency and growth. Microsoft 365 Copilot is designed to meet these needs, offering businesses a powerful tool to enhance productivity and streamline operations. Many small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) face challenges in managing their digital presence, customer interactions, and internal processes. These hurdles can impede growth and limit the ability to respond swiftly to market changes.
We spoke with John T. Battaglia from The Judge Group, a mid-sized global professional services firm specializing in business technology consulting, learning, staffing, and offshore solutions. Established in 1970, the company has grown into an international leader in their industry. With over 30 locations across the United States, Canada, and India, The Judge Group partners with some of the most prominent companies in the world, including over 60 of the Fortune 100. After encountering significant challenges with employees using their own AI tools, The Judge Group made a strategic decision to transition to Microsoft 365 Copilot for its security features, unmatched efficiency, and AI-driven insights. Since adopting Copilot, The Judge Group has become power users, fully integrating the tool into their daily operations.
In the following sections, we will explore some of the specific challenges The Judge Group faced and how Microsoft 365 Copilot helped them achieve better outcomes.
Managing complex projects with AI
One of the pain points The Judge Group faced was managing complex projects across multiple stakeholders. They often found it challenging to keep everyone on the same page and ensure timely completion of tasks. Copilot helped provide insights and simplified workflows to streamline project management. For example, during a presentation to a nonprofit company’s board, Copilot was used to gather key details of the meeting with ease such as generating real-time summaries, tracking action items, and providing instant access to relevant documents using Microsoft Teams with simple prompts. This technology superpower impressed the board, who initially thought Copilot’s capabilities were more similar to those of its competitors. They were amazed by the added bonus of AI-driven insights, which helped prioritize tasks and allocate resources more efficiently—far exceeding expectations.
Security and Compliance
The Judge Group experienced notable challenges early on in their AI journey, particularly in the areas of data security and compliance. Employees independently opted to use their own AI tools leading to substantial security concerns, especially for the legal team. The previous tool posed significant risks to sensitive information, making it challenging for The Judge Group to ensure their data was protected and adhering to the strict guidelines and regulations they have in place to safeguard their operations and instill confidence in their stakeholders.
“We realized that [employees independently opting to use their own AI tools] was a massive scare for our legal team. That’s when we decided to go on this AI journey with Copilot to protect our information and improve our processes.”
John T. Battaglia
Switching to Microsoft 365 Copilot provided enhanced security features and compliance management. Not only did Microsoft 365 Copilot adopt established data privacy and security policies and configurations, but their compliance approach also ensured that all AI capabilities were developed, deployed, and evaluated in a compliant and ethical manner. This comprehensive strategy not only safeguarded their operations but also provided peace of mind across the organization.
Decisive steps were also taken to enhance their data security and privacy settings in SharePoint to mitigate “oversharing.” They implemented SharePoint Advanced Management (SAM), to further simplify governing and protecting SharePoint data. This allowed them to control access to specific areas of their site or documents when collaborating with vendors, clients, or customers outside their organization. They emphasized the importance of knowing who they were sharing with, determining if the recipients could re-share the content, and whether they needed to protect the content to prevent re-use or re-sharing.
Management, Adoption, and Training
Another challenge was ensuring compliance with responsible AI policies. To address this, they adopted a phased rollout approach for Copilot, starting with a pilot group and gradually expanding while providing targeted training and support. This strategy ensured that all team members adhered to the guidelines, improving the organization’s workflow and productivity. The phased rollout allowed The Judge Group to identify and address any compliance issues early on, ensuring a smooth implementation of Copilot.
The rollout consisted of several training initiatives, including role-specific training sessions tailored to the unique responsibilities and workflows of different teams within the organization. This approach ensured that each team member received relevant and practical training that directly applied to their daily tasks and served as a collaborative space where team members could share their experiences, best practices, and learn from one another. The emphasis on social learning within teams helped accelerate the learning curve and adoption rate, creating a supportive environment that encouraged continuous improvement.
In the pilot phase, The Judge Group prioritized roles such as project managers, IT administrators, and customer service representatives. Each role faced unique challenges and required specific training to ensure success. Project managers focused on using Copilot for task management and resource allocation, while IT administrators concentrated on compliance and security aspects. Customer service representatives received training in leveraging Copilot for customer interactions and support.
The key takeaways were the importance of making the training relevant to the role, continuous support, and fostering a culture of collaboration and learning.
Approach to Adoption
The Judge Group meticulously crafted a strategic adoption plan, with fun engaging campaign materials. They equipped the adoption team with all the necessary skills including “Train the Trainer” sessions to ensure they could effectively support the campaign for a successful launch.
Executive sponsors and champions were also actively engaged and trained within priority persona groups. Consistent and active communication was maintained across these groups to keep everyone informed and energized. By capturing and tracking adoption and utilization metrics for campaign target users, The Judge Group was then able to measure the impact of the adoption campaign using the Copilot Dashboard to help make informed data-driven decisions for optimization. The Copilot Dashboard was used to track various adoption metrics, such as “Total actions taken,” “Copilot assisted hours,” “Total actions count,” “Total active Copilot users,” and “meetings summarized by Copilot.” This allowed The Judge Group to monitor the progress and impact of their AI initiatives effectively.
The ongoing training series serve as a collaborative place where team members could share their experiences, best practices, and learn from one another. This emphasis on social learning within teams accelerated the learning curve and adoption rate, fostering a supportive environment that encouraged continuous improvement.

Looking for meetups for Brian Levine from Finchloom while attending Ignite in Chicago NOV 2024
Hello, Americas partners!
We are sending our Senior Partner Brian Levine to Ignite this year in Chicago in November 2024 to represent Finchloom – a 100% Microsoft Only partner based in Los Angeles, CA.
We are looking for ideas to partner with another firm to grow our business. It has to be complimentary so we can help each other. We do Azure Infrastructure, Modern Work (Including), and Security. One user session stuck on AVD host
I have a user that has a black screen when logging into their AVD host pool and I can not log out their session. I have tried to sign out the session from task manager, PowerShell commands, and from the Azure portal. I suspect there is a process running on the user session that is preventing it from logging off. Has anyone run into this issue? There are 10 other user sessions and prefer not to shut down the host. DMARC hacked bypassed with empty header.from or only semicolon
WRAP UP
On the 26th of September 2024 an email was delivered to one of our Exchange Online mailboxes from the Internet through EOP that spoofes one of our accepted domains although this domain is protected by a DMARC reject policy and by DKIM and SPF nobody as allowed to use this domain as a sender domain.
INTRODUCTION
Microsoft Support refused to support this case more or less because I insisted on the DKIM and SPF configuration being perfectly fine. They pointed me at community or their paid support.
The domain in question (here: spoofeddomain.de) is only kept by me as an accepted domain in Exchange Online for the purpose of receiving email, but for sending email. The MX points at EOP. I have disabled DKIM in order to make sure nobody can get a DKIM pass and to contribute to nobody can get a DMARC pass using this domain as sender domain. For the same reason I have set the SPF record “v=spf1 -all” prohibiting any IP to send in the name of this domain.
ANALYSIS
Outlook shows the following as sender: f.last@ <spoofeddomain.de email address removed for privacy reasons>
Clicking on properties Outlook shows…
Displayname: f.last@
Email-Address: spoofeddomain.de email address removed for privacy reasons
The Authentication Results Header shows the following:
Authentication-Results-Originalspf=fail (sender IP is 81.17.30.196) smtp.mailfrom=spoofeddomain.de; dkim=none (message not signed) header.d=none;dmarc=none action=none header.from=;
CAUSE
The attacker seems to be able to work around the mechanism of the EOP that determines the header.from. As a consequence he is able to spoof spoofeddomain.de because the EOP has no header.from domain that it could get a DMARC policy for. If it had, it would have come to a DMARC fail, because we have DKIM disabled and “v=spf1 -all”.
ASSESSMENT
I think the best way to argue Microsoft is right, is to say that spoofeddomain.de is not the actual header.from according to RFC. Furthermore the sender shown in Outlook is not unambigous. However if a user wants to determine the sender domain from this, which domain should he or she determine but spoofeddomain.de?
MITIGATION
I put transport rules in place that quarntine emails with Authentication-Results or Authentication-Results-Original “header.from=;”. However since I have not established a testing process yet, I’m not sure if they will work.

Creating VBA Code to Remove Similar Data Entries in Table
Hi all,
I’m currently working with large data sets where we have 1000s of lines that are equal and opposite to another. For example you can see in the below table;
BATCHNAMEAmountDateDave’s Fund1000008/01/2024Reverses Dave’s Fund-1000020/02/2024Dave’s new Fund500024/02/2024
What I would like to do is have a VBA code that matches the “Dave’s Fund” line and “Reverses Dave’s Fund” line and removes them from the data set (but only if the values add up to nil).
I’ve began on some code that would remove any line that contains the text “Reverses” but I’d like to add in the criteria that removes the original line and checks that the values net to nil.
Sub DeleteRowsOnCriteria()
Dim lastRow As Long, dataRow As Long
Dim ACCOUNTEDBALANCE As Long
lastRow = ActiveSheet.UsedRange.SpecialCells(xlCellTypeLastCell).Row
For dataRow = lastRow To 2 Step -1
BATCHNAME = Range(“B” & dataRow).Value
If InStr(1, BATCHNAME, “Reverses”) Then
Rows(dataRow).Delete
End If
Next dataRow
End Sub
Would anyone have any idea on how to add to the code to achieve it’s aims?
Many thanks,
Daniel

Once the deployment is complete, it’s time to log into the HCX Manager using your vCenter credentials from AVS. Here, HCX allows you to download the OVA or copy the link, which you can import into a Content Library. For this demonstration, I show downloading and importing for deployment on-premises
Deploying from an OVF Template
With the OVA downloaded, it’s time to log into our vCenter and deploy from an OVF template. Just upload the file from your desktop and follow the simple steps.
Importing into the Content Library
Another way to approach this is by importing into the Content Library. I go back in and create a Content Library in the on-premises vCenter, assign a meaningful name, and import using the URL provided from the HCX settings in AVS.
Activating On-Premises HCX Connector VM
With the necessary components in place, it’s time to activate our on-premises HCX Connector VM. Grab the key from your AVS private cloud’s HCX settings, give it a name and you’re to activate the VM.
Configuring HCX ️
With the key in hand, paste it into the activation section of the HCX connector. Once activated, restart the appliance, and after about 15 minutes, you should see your vCenter up and running in the HCX Dashboard. Now you’re ready to configure your HCX settings.
Last Steps
After a few more configurations, setting up HCX roles, and waiting for the plugins to show up in vCenter, you’ll see your HCX deployment and configuration finally complete. You’ve successfully downloaded the OVA, imported it, deployed HCX on-prem, and enabled it in the Azure VMware Solution private cloud.
Part 2 will cover we will be creating the Site Pairing to connect the On-Premises HCX appliance to the AVS HCX appliance.

Used a template and the “anyone can respond” option is greyed out
I used a template and the “anyone can respond” option is greyed out. The administrator options are set up correctly. I tried copying the form but of course it has the same problem. Is there any way to copy the information to another blank form or changing to response option?

Hololens 2 nightmare!
The device as far as I know is bricked due to a faulty update released by Microsoft. For some reason the device is not charging above 1 LED light (Even when charging it overnight).
Microsoft customer care suggested to re flash the device which is a simple straight forward process but the device is nowhere the minimum 40% charge because of some restriction.
Getting into EDL mode by pressing the Brightness UP + Brightness DOWN + Power button until the LED’s disappear only enables me to update the driver using the device manager window.
Thinking this as a bypass to the 40% charge requirement, tried connecting to the ARC software with the latest .ffu file and the recovery .ffu file (in case the process got stuck).
ARC opens a page which says unable to connect to the server (which I understand) but will not let me choose the manual package file I have downloaded. The option is greyed out. Tried everything but no luck.
Tried to solve this using the Windows Recovery tool which was used to recover LUMIA phones back in the day, the device does not want to connect to anything.
If anyone has any ideas on solving this, I am all ears!
P.S.
All of this looks suspicious

End User Portal for Defender
Hi guys,
We’d like to introduce a way of allowing line managers and in some cases end users to be more self-sufficient in monitoring, tracking and remediating their own device vulnerabilities.
Is anyone aware a way of delegating some of the information available in the Defender Dashboard to users and teams? Even being able to see an individuals secure score would be a start.
Thanks in advance.

Line Chart Has Gone Crazy
Hello all,
This is my dataset:
I’m trying to show a trend analysis.
When I have “Tickets Issued” and “Abandoned” shown, it’s cluttered, but it’s ok.
Now pay attention to the y-axis and the data labels. When I add “Total Served”, the axis points doubles and the graph plots way above what it should be. The green and orange line should be much closer, and there should be no point above 4000.
Even when I reduce the vertical axis bounds to 4000, the graph doesn’t change.

Fixing a #SPILL! error
My formula sometimes results in a spill error, and I’m unsure why. I have the formula =LET(Num, N2, All, SEQUENCE(Num), Factors, FILTER(All, MOD(Num, All)=0), Factors) listing the factors of the number in cell N2, and a simple =SQRT(O3#) to show the square root of those factors in the next column. The factor-finding formula always works, but the square root formula results in the spill error when there are too many factors. Why is this and how do I fix it?

Removing Screen flicker and adding efficiency to Copy Paste Macro
Hello smart excel users,
I have a macro that I’ve made that pulls data from other reports. I typically get to use .range = .value2 because I use table 99% of the time, however, in the case of my stand alone reports I cannot use tables and I have to use merged cells. because of this, I have not been able to come up with a good macro that removes the need to copy and paste data a bunch of times between workbooks and it causes the screen to flicker like crazy when going back and forth between the two workbooks (disabling screen updating will not work as its two separate windows) and unfortunately I need a bunch of copy pastes instead of just one due to the limitations revolving around copy paste of merged cells and paste area size differences…..
I’m sure there’s a way to get all the data that I require to be pulled over without the extensive back and forth but I have not found a solution yet.
I have attached two sample workbooks. The one which is TEST REPORT has a button that can be clicked. It prompts you to select the source data that I have also attached and should pull the data from the source report.
Please let me know If you have any ideas on how it could run smoother and potentially remove the horrendous screen flickers.

Creating New Account
I have been unsuccessful in creating a new account in OneDrive because four different times after going through the five-step puzzle solving routine and successfully completing it with the correct answers and was told I had proven that I was a real person, then the same 5-step puzzle solving routine comes back up again as if I had not passed it. I have tried using my other email and by creating a new email – neither of which was successful??? Looks as if Microsoft doesn’t want me as a customer. But any help would be appreciated. B. Butler
